That was indeed a clever way of putting it; after all, Shen Tunan couldn't really cut off the head of an envoy from another country.
Doing that would have had a very negative political impact.
But openly defying royal authority is a capital offense, and Batum's fate wouldn't be much better.
This kind of behavior—sending one's subordinates to their deaths just to vent one's anger—is indeed Mu Tu's consistent style.
Just as Shen Shi was waiting to see how Shen Tunan would deal with Batum, an unexpected incident suddenly occurred.
"His Majesty!"
The eunuch Wang's mournful cries rang out.
