When Shen arrived at the educated youth settlement, he saw that the courtyard and the surrounding area were packed with people.
The entrance was completely packed with people.

Shen Shi's grandfather said to Xiao Li, "Thank you for giving this old man a ride. I don't have much to offer you now, but I'll treat you to a nice meal when we get back."
After Xiao Li acknowledged and unloaded a bunch of things and a Phoenix brand bicycle from the car, he drove away.
Everyone was stunned by the scene, but since the car had driven away, they didn't stay any longer.
When things calmed down, the grandfather and grandson finally had some time to chat.
Shen Shi quickly asked, "Grandpa, what brings you here?"
"Nonsense, you're getting married, how could I not come!" Clearly still harboring resentment, the old man's tone was extremely arrogant.
"Yes, yes, yes! I know Grandpa loves me the most," Shen Shi said ingratiatingly.
The old man snorted, meaning it's good that you know.
"What's with that car? Did you strike it rich, Grandpa?"

"A bicycle is fine too, it's a vehicle anyway."
Since his grandfather had arrived, Shen Shi simply moved into the old landlord's courtyard ahead of schedule.
Having a bicycle made things much more convenient. The grandfather and grandson made two trips back and forth and moved all their belongings into the new house.
There wasn't much furniture in the room, so the two of them tidied up a bit.
"Grandpa, please sit down and have some water! You're so old, and you've come all this way and you've been so busy."
Seeing that the old man couldn't sit still, Shen Shi quickly tried to dissuade him.

The person he traded with seemed to be in dire need of a bicycle, and under Shen Shi's persuasive skills, even gave him 20 yuan.
The bride price consisted of a sewing machine, 88 yuan, two pieces of fabric, and some auspicious trinkets.
Shen Shi paid for the sewing machine himself, but the old man insisted that he, as the elder, pay for the bride price.
When Shen refused to agree, the old man said again, "Don't feel embarrassed, kid. Don't worry, I didn't take the money. I asked your parents for it when we came."
