Chapter 8: A Novel About Educated Youth (Male Second Character) and a Beautiful, Spoiled Village Flower (Part 8)

That makes things much easier; we'll know whether they're there or not after just one trip.

Since there's no harm in losing anything, why not take a gamble!

Once Chen Shi made up his mind, his immediate priority was to figure out how to get Wang Gang to the cowshed.

Since the target was the brainless Wang Gang, Shen Shi felt that this matter was not too difficult.

The straightforward Wang Gang firmly believed that Shen Shi and Liu Yiyi had a secret relationship. Otherwise, why would Yiyi care about him but not about herself?

Since entering, Wang Gang's eyes have been fixed on Chen Shi.

Even just now, when Shen Shi was so engrossed in his thoughts, Wang Gang's brows furrowed involuntarily, as if he were deep in thought as well.

They were very concerned about everything Shen did.

After making up his mind, Chen Shi sat up from the kang (a heated brick bed).

She opened the cabinet where she kept her things and took out the book she had exchanged with Liu Yiyi.

Then she pretended to be preoccupied, her brows furrowing slightly, looking somewhat sad.

With a hesitant expression, he looked at the book over and over again several times, then strode out with a resolute expression.

"With my acting skills, it'll be hard for Wang Gang not to take the bait now," Shen Shi thought to himself, giving himself a thumbs up for his acting.

Wang Gang thought the same thing as Shen Shi.

When he saw Shen Shi pick up the book, he recognized it as Liu Yiyi's. Seeing Shen Shi's hesitant expression, he felt something was wrong.

"Could it be a date?" Wang Gang thought to himself. "Oh no."

When Shen Shi went out, he followed him quickly without any hesitation.

I was delayed for about twenty minutes in the dormitory.

Although these days it was just his guess that Deng Jie and Liu Yiyi might not be in the cowshed, Shen Shi was still afraid of wasting time.

After confirming that Wang Gang was with him, he walked quickly and hurriedly.

He strode briskly to the entrance of the cowshed, when he heard Wang Gang's light footsteps behind him.

"This kid is really not afraid of being discovered, he's following me pretty closely." Shen Shi thought to himself, then slowed down and started walking around the cowshed.

I listened carefully as I walked, afraid of missing any details.

Finally, when he reached the back of the cowshed, Shen Shi keenly noticed Deng Jie's voice under the banyan tree five meters away.

He was pressing on Liu Yiyi's shoulder, his eyes red as he questioned her.

"Why did you only come now? Do you know how long I've been waiting?" His words contained five parts anger, three parts sadness, and two parts indifference.

Liu Yiyi, standing to the side, had messy hair and was still panting heavily, clearly having rushed over in a hurry.

Faced with Deng Jie's questioning, he explained in a good-natured manner.

"I... there were too many people at the educated youth settlement just now. Wang Fang kept bothering me, so I just got away and came here."

You could tell from her tone that she was really anxious, afraid that Deng Jie would be unhappy.

"Really?"

Deng Jie clearly didn't believe it; he felt that Liu Yiyi must be lying to him.

"Then why did you speak up for Shen Shi today? Why did you care about him?"

Feeling betrayed, Deng Jie questioned Liu Yiyi in a serious tone.

He narrowed his eyes slightly and asked in a dangerous tone, "You like him?"

Faced with Deng Jie's gloomy demeanor, Liu Yiyi shook her head vigorously.

"What are you talking about? How could I like him!"

Upon hearing Liu Yiyi's denial, Deng Jie was immediately in a good mood.

"Then why do you care about him?"

The problem returned to square one. Liu Yiyi shook her head and denied it again, but Deng Jie persisted. Helpless, she could only lower her head and weep.

True love indeed, there wasn't a trace of acting. Chen Shi stood aside, quietly acting as a judge.

Fortunately, he hadn't forgotten the important reason he'd come here in the middle of the night instead of sleeping.

Judging from the atmosphere between Deng Jie and Liu Yiyi, they probably won't notice him for a while.

But it's always better to be safe than sorry, just in case.

Chen Shi still followed his pre-planned strategy and quietly walked forward a little further.

After confirming that Wang Gang had arrived at his previous location, Chen Shi waited in the same spot for another two minutes.

So that Wang Gang, that blockhead, would discover the existence of Deng Jie and Liu Yiyi.

Until Wang Gang stood facing the banyan tree, staring blankly, no longer stealing glances in his direction.

The anxiety that had been hanging over me finally subsided.

Judging from his reaction, he must have seen it, but the two of them were kissing so loudly that even if he couldn't see it, he must have heard it.

When Shen Shi retired after achieving his goal, even his steps became lighter.

In a good mood, he suddenly felt that the smell of wheat straw carried by the wind smelled much better, and even the moon in the sky seemed more lovely.

After a moment of reflection, Chen Shi quickened his pace, intending to leave this place.

Delaying too long could easily cause trouble, so we hurried back to the educated youth settlement.

When they arrived at the dormitory, Zhao Yicheng and Liu Tianqing were already snoring loudly.

After quietly tidying himself up, Chen Shi climbed into bed.

So much happened in just one day, and Chen Shi, who was overwhelmed with worry, finally managed to sort things out.

I felt a sense of relief, but then I was so tired and sleepy that I fell asleep almost the moment my head hit the pillow.

The first rays of sunlight in the morning pierced through the clouds and fell upon the earth.

The first to awaken were the village's poultry, with roosters crowing and dogs barking, creating quite a lively scene.

It's cool to work in the summer mornings, so we're more efficient. We need to start work at 7:00 AM, and it's already 6:00 AM.

The people at the educated youth settlement gradually started to arrive.

Chen Shi, who was sitting on the kang (a heated brick bed), rubbed his eyes and slowly sat up.

I slept so well that I felt refreshed and full of energy.

Seeing that it was already light outside, Chen Shi stopped dawdling.

He immediately got up and started washing up.

After washing up and changing into work clothes, Chen Shi sat down at the dining table.

Unfortunately, Liu Yiyi was in charge of cooking today.

Shen Shi got up early and tidied up quickly, so he was the only one at the dinner table.

Contrary to her usual behavior, Liu Yiyi showed no intention of speaking to Shen Shi. After placing the dishes on the table, she prepared to leave.

Perhaps she remembered the embarrassment Shen Shi had caused her yesterday.

It's also possible that she wavered again last night after hearing Deng Jie's heartfelt confession.

Unexpectedly, Chen Shi spoke up at this moment: "Liu Zhiqing, I want to read that book we exchanged before again. I think we should exchange it back. After we finish eating, I'll put your copy on the windowsill in your dormitory, and you can put mine on the windowsill too."

In the original storyline, this book was a hot potato; knowing how serious the matter was, it would be foolish not to deal with it in advance.

When dealing with someone like Liu Yiyi, you can't be tactful. Chen Shi decided to cut to the chase.
