Yun Ao's body flew backwards like a kite with a broken string, his eyes full of despair and emptiness. The scene of his first meeting with Qing Yao in the past flashed through his mind like a kaleidoscope.
It was a spring afternoon, the peach blossoms were in full bloom, Qingyao stood under the tree, smiling sweetly, beautiful as a dream, but now, all this will become his last memory.
Just when he thought he was about to smash into the ground and be shattered into pieces, a soft and tenacious force suddenly came from his back, cushioning his fall and allowing him to land gently on the ground.
Yun Ao was full of doubts. He forced himself to suppress the pain and turned his head, only to see a red cat appear behind him at some point.
The cat's fur was as dazzling as a burning flame, its red eyes flashed with mysterious light, and its tail was raised high, swinging gracefully, as if saving Yun Ao was just a trivial matter.
At this moment, it was staring at Yun Ao quietly, and the look in its eyes was unfathomable, with a hint of scrutiny and also a bit of concern.
The shouts and roars of the ice beasts and fire beasts continued to be heard all around, but Yun Ao's attention was completely attracted by this mysterious cat.
He tried to ask, but his throat was dry and he could only utter a hoarse hum. The cat's sudden appearance had given him a glimmer of hope and curiosity in this desperate situation, on the brink of life and death. He just couldn't understand why the cat had appeared at this moment, or why it had saved him.
Yun Ao widened his eyes, staring at the mysterious cat with a fiery red body. He saw that the cat had a nimble posture and rushed into the camp where the ice spirit beasts and fire beasts were fighting like a red lightning. Its claws flashed with strange light and drew sharp arcs in the air.
Whenever the cat's claws touched the transparent and cold body of the ice beast, or the flaming fur of the fire beast, accompanied by a shrill scream, those beasts instantly turned into a ball of light and dissipated into nothingness.
Its movements were as fast as a ghost, moving freely among the beasts. Wherever it went, the powerful ice spirit beasts and ferocious fire beasts had no power to fight back.
The cultivators present couldn't help but stop what they were doing, their faces filled with shock and confusion, their mouths wide open, as if they were under a spell, and they couldn't believe their eyes at all.
The powerful strength displayed by this seemingly ordinary cat far exceeded their cognition and imagination. For a moment, the entire cave fell into an eerie silence. Everyone was immersed in this extremely magical and puzzling scene, and their hearts were filled with endless speculation and doubts about the origin of this mysterious cat.
Just as everyone was astonished, a loud shout suddenly came from the crowd: "I know this cat, it's Yao's cat!" The voice was like a thunder, instantly breaking the brief silence. Everyone's eyes turned to the source of the voice, only to see an old man with a look of panic on his face, his fingers trembling as he pointed at the mysterious fiery red cat.
Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned at first, and then an indescribable tension and expectation filled the air.
Their eyes began to search the surroundings anxiously, leaving no corner untouched, trying to find the familiar yet mysterious figure - Yao.
In the entire cave, the only sounds that could be heard were the rapid breathing of the crowd and the light footsteps. However, looking around, apart from the cat that was freely moving among the beasts, there were no unfamiliar faces to be seen.
In desperation, everyone's attention involuntarily focused on the red cat again.
It continued to wave its sharp claws as if no one was around, easily turning the ice spirit beasts and fire beasts into nothingness. Every attack was precise and deadly. Its powerful and elegant posture made people more certain of the close connection between it and Yao.
Everyone wondered, was the cat's appearance a coincidence, or was it Yao's deliberate act? If the latter, where was she hiding? And what was her purpose?
The fiery red cat landed lightly on the ground and slowly raised a furry paw. The pink pad of its paw was stained with the blood of the monster. It stuck out its tongue and licked it carefully as if no one was around, with an innate arrogance and indifference in its eyes.
Every lick seemed to declare to everyone its power and inviolability. The originally noisy cave was now so quiet that only the subtle sound of the cat's tongue and claws rubbing against each other was left.
Seeing this, the people around were startled and took a step back involuntarily, exchanging wary glances with each other.
Their faces were full of fear. After all, they had just witnessed the cat's brutal method of killing monsters in an instant. At this moment, no one dared to provoke this guy who looked small and cute but was actually extremely dangerous.
"This cat is so ferocious, what kind of cruel person must its owner be?" Someone in the crowd whispered, with a barely perceptible tremor in his voice.
Xiaoyi heard the whispers of the crowd and snorted in disdain. The sound coming from its throat seemed to be full of human emotions.
It walked towards Yun Ao with an elegant cat-like step and a light posture, each step carrying an innate confidence and composure.
Yun Ao's body stiffened slightly, a trace of panic flashed in his eyes, and he stepped back unconsciously. The horrific scene of the cat just killing in the herd was still echoing in his mind. Now facing it up close, the fear in his heart was difficult to suppress.
Xiaoyi noticed Yun Ao's retreat, tilted his head slightly, and a hint of imperceptible mockery flashed in his eyes.
It stopped and slowly squatted down, its round buttocks sitting on the cold ground, its tail gently wrapped around its body.
