Compared to the cheerful atmosphere on Ye Feiyu's side, Jiang Tian was met with a heavy atmosphere as soon as she returned home.
As soon as she entered the room, she saw the man sitting on the sofa waiting for her.
Zhou Jishen thought the woman was joking, but then she actually found a job.
His gaze was fixed on her, his expression somewhat gloomy.
Jiang Tian glanced at him, then went upstairs without even saying goodbye.
"Aren't you going to explain this to me? The agreement stipulates that I need you to stay at home, for which I pay 50,000 yuan per month. Is this how you repay me?"
Zhou Jishen received a message from Jiang Tian a few days ago.
She said she had found a job and would be starting work in a few days, but Zhou Jishen ignored her.
He was well aware of the current job market. The jobs Jiang Tian could find either required physical labor or mental effort, neither of which she met.
Perhaps in a few days, she will obediently return home and continue being Mrs. Zhou.
To his surprise, when he occasionally came to the bridal suite to pick up a document, he found it empty and the lights were off.
Jiang Tian disappeared without a trace.
Zhou Jishen was furious.
Zhou Jishen had never had a good impression of Lin Qingyun's older sister.
He doesn't like lukewarm people.
Jiang Tian's timid and submissive manner even disgusted him.
She couldn't wait to leave, even though they had just received the divorce certificate and signed the agreement. This made him think that she was a two-faced person.
He hates anyone who lacks a sense of contractual obligation.
"The agreement states that I will do my best to cooperate when it's necessary to appear as a harmonious couple in front of others for social reasons. There's no rule against me going out to work, and there's no rule against me staying out all night. Which clause states that I need to stay home every day? Can you show it to me?"
"Besides, the job I found won't keep me out all night, nor will it tarnish your reputation, so you don't need to overthink it."
Looking at Jiang Tian in front of him, Zhou Jishen felt a sense of unfamiliarity.
Married for five years, Jiang Tian always played the role of a good wife, speaking softly and gently. When he was standing, she dared not sit down.
After the divorce, she dared to talk back to him.
However, he's right; it wasn't written in the contract.
He hadn't expected this woman to want to find a job, and to come back so late.
Zhou Jishen's tone was cold: "It's true that it's not written in the contract, but you should pay attention to your reputation. If someone sees a wealthy woman coming home late at night, what will they say about me?"
“They won’t care about me. Everyone knows I’m just a tool in the Zhou family, and nobody looks down on me. Actually, the boss told me to leave work a long time ago, but I didn’t come back. I didn’t want to face this empty house anymore, so I wandered around outside for a long time before coming back.”
"If I gave you a house, and you were to stay there every day watching over someone who can never come back, would you be willing?"
Zhou Jishen looked at Jiang Tian.
Jiang Tian met his gaze without flinching.
Even after all these years, this was the first time he had ever seen this woman's tough side.
"What kind of job are you looking for? Is it compliant with regulations? Does it meet the requirements? Is it a shell company?"
Zhou Jishen suddenly changed the subject.
He didn't believe she could find a good job.
"It has nothing to do with you."
Jiang Tian grabbed her bag and headed upstairs, when she heard Zhou Jishen's voice behind her.
"I won't cover for you with your mother. If she finds out you're going to work, you'll have to deal with it yourself."
"I don't need you."
Jiang Tian didn't even turn her head.
Zhou Jishen rarely felt a surge of anger.
After receiving her divorce certificate, Jiang Tian was completely different from the person she used to be.
He shouldn't have had too many expectations of humanity.
He had said everything he needed to say, and the agreement included a penalty clause if Jiang Tian caused any trouble.
He wanted to see if this woman could afford to pay the damages and whether he would have to clean up the mess in the end.
The next day, when Jiang Tian went to work, she did not see Ye Feiyu.
Ye Feiyu sent her a WeChat message: "I have an urgent matter to attend to in the United States. You continue to familiarize yourself with the work. Since I won't be there, go home early after get off work, preferably before it gets dark. This is an employee benefit, so don't waste it."
Jiang Tian quickly replied, "Okay, Mr. Ye, thank you."
Ye Feiyu received her thanks as soon as he got off the plane.
People who are both pragmatic and grateful are rare these days.
Ye Feiyu's lips curled slightly.
Facing his trusted confidants, he resumed his expressionless demeanor.
Several trusted confidants followed Ye Feiyu respectfully as the group headed to headquarters to deal with some stubborn old fogies.
Ye Feiyu needs no obstacles in his quest to expand his territory.
Jiang Tian received a call from her mother, Jiang Yuehua, in the afternoon, asking her to come home for dinner.
She didn't delay and went there at 6:30 pm.
Jiang Yuehua is currently living alone in a villa purchased by Jiang Tian's biological father, Lin Jianhe.
Lin Jianhe rarely returns home; Hong Kong is the home he considers his own. Jiang Yuehua lives alone in the mansion, upholding the dignity of his legal wife.
The empty villa had only one other person besides Jiang Yuehua: her aunt.
Jiang Yuehua was not comfortable with others living with her. The aunt usually only cooked for her and did not live with her.
Upon seeing Jiang Tian, Jiang Yuehua frowned: "What are you wearing? Didn't I tell you that girls should wear skirts to show off their elegance and grace?"
"You're wearing a shirt and jeans, who's going to think of you as a lady? Don't forget, you're Mrs. Zhou now, you need to be mindful of your demeanor at all times."
