"If you have anything to say, you can say it now."
Jiang Tian poured herself a glass of water and sat down opposite him.
Is there something you're hiding from me?
Cheng Yanzheng asked with some difficulty.
Jiang Tian's posture while drinking water remained unchanged, still composed.
She cut to the chase: "Did you come here to see me, or my daughter?"
Her daughter.
Cheng Yanzheng stared at her intently.
His emotions were surging violently, but he couldn't utter a single word.
"You have a daughter..."
Jiang Tian nodded: "She's very cute, like an angel."
What a natural and composed answer.
Cheng Yanzheng met her gaze: "Why didn't you tell me? Don't you trust me? If you're hiding everything from me, why are you dating me in the first place?!"
His tone was somewhat intense.
Then, he could see the disappointment in Jiang Tian's eyes.
The Jiang Tian who had been so intimate with him just moments before gradually disappeared, and she reverted to the aloofness she had shown when they first met.
"you--"
Cheng Yanzheng looked at her with some panic.
Do you think I'm deceiving you?
Cheng Yanzheng opened his mouth.
Jiang Tian smiled and said, "I think you should remember the premise of our relationship—a limited-time experience is the initial intention behind this relationship. I don't need to explain all my experiences to you."
Her smile was polite, but cold.
From the moment Cheng Yanzheng asked that question, the distance between the two suddenly widened.
"But I know nothing about you, I know nothing about you, and you never mention your past to me."
"Because it's unnecessary. Focus on the present, and you won't need to dwell on the past."
Cheng Yanzheng gave a wry smile.
To be honest, from the beginning of this relationship, he felt like he was walking a tightrope.
Because everything is unknown.
Jiang Tian did not meet any of his criteria for choosing a partner; she was rebellious, bold, independent, brave, and charming.
The gentle and virtuous wife he envisioned had absolutely nothing to do with her.
This is the kind of person who forcefully shattered his views on choosing a partner, making him fall irrevocably in love with her.
This same person reshaped his understanding of relationships.
Jiang Tian once told him that lovers should be independent yet intimate—he may never understand her words.
A lover shrouded in uncertainty, a relationship clearly destined for tragedy—it had barely begun when he was dealt a harsh blow.
He came to her with a sliver of hope, wanting to get the honest Jiang Tian, but instead he was met with her aggressive attitude.
To be honest, neither of them did anything wrong.
But Cheng Yanzheng also clearly realized that they were not a good match.
Jiang Tian is mysterious and charming; being with her makes every cell in your body happy.
But deep down, what he longed for was a peaceful life.
He hopes that the two of them can open their hearts to each other and embrace each other fully in their intimate relationship.
But Jiang Tian didn't do that.
She didn't think she was wrong either.
Rationally speaking, she was not wrong.
Emotionally, he couldn't accept it.
Having a child is a major secret.
He received a traditional education. Putting himself in Jiang Tian's shoes, if he had a child, he certainly wouldn't hide it from her.
It seems like this is the longest the two of them can go.
Cheng Yanzheng looked at Jiang Tian, wanting to say the words "break up," but his heart was being torn apart, as if the two words were as heavy as a thousand pounds, and no matter what, he could not utter them.
Just as the two were locked in a silent stalemate, there was a knock at the door: "Emily, are you home?"
It was a girl's light and melodious voice.
"Please give me some face."
Jiang Tian looked at him and said.
Cheng Yanzheng's face was grim.
Jiang Tian opened the door, and a blonde, blue-eyed little girl stepped forward and hugged her: "I'm sorry to bother you today, but my grandparents are going to celebrate their wedding anniversary, so I need to find someone to look after them."
Welcome!
Jiang Tian spoke a few words to the person who brought the ginger candy before leading the little girl into the room.
Soon, Jiang Tang saw Cheng Yanzheng.
"Wow, is that your boyfriend? He came to see you?"
Jiang Tang looked at Cheng Yanzheng with surprise.
Cheng Yanzheng never expected Jiang Tian's daughter to be like this.
She doesn't look much like Jiang Tian, but their facial features are very similar.
"Hello, my name is Caroline, and my Chinese name is Jiang Tang (姜糖)."
Jiang Tang looked up at Cheng Yanzheng with a confident and open expression; her eyes were very beautiful.
Stared at by her, Cheng Yanzheng suddenly felt a little flustered. His face stiffened: "My name is Cheng Yanzheng."
Jiang Tang repeated his name: "Cheng Yanzheng".
Cheng Yanzheng nodded stiffly again.
"My name is Ginger Candy. I'm the kind of candy that's very sweet and makes you feel warm inside. Have you ever tried it?"
Cheng Yanzheng nodded.
Jiang Tang laughed and turned to Jiang Tian, saying, "Your boyfriend is very shy."
“Yes, so you need to be gentle with him,” Jiang Tian told her.
Jiang Tang nodded: "I am very gentle."
Cheng Yanzheng watched the mother and daughter interact, unsure of what to do.
"Ginger Candy, could you help me cook some noodles? You know, this is the only kind of food I can make. Cheng Yanzheng is a guest, so could you let him wait outside?"
"OK."
Cheng Yanzheng stood blankly in the living room, while a mother and daughter were chatting happily not far away.
He seemed like an outsider, afraid of disturbing their peace.
Dinner was very simple. Cheng Yanzheng just kept his head down and ate his food. He wouldn't speak unless Jiang Tang asked him a question.
