Jiang Tian did not accept it, but she was clearly very popular with the opposite sex.
Looking at that radiant person, Du Baiwei thought of her own drab appearance and suddenly felt ashamed of herself.
Jiang Tian naturally wouldn't pay attention to an assistant who delivers documents, but Du Baiwei couldn't help but ask her after handing her the documents and having her sign them, "May I ask you a question?"
Upon hearing her question, Jiang Tian glanced at her with some surprise, and then she smiled.
"Actually, I can guess what you're going to ask. But I still hope that Assistant Du can keep your distance from your president. Putting aside everything else, I'm still married to him, and I'll be unhappy if you get too close to him."
Jiang Tian winked at her, a sly smile playing on her lips.
Her words shattered Du Baiwei's hopes.
She had painstakingly built a fortress for her unrequited love, only to have it destroyed by Jiang Tian's single sentence.
She looked at Jiang Tian, opened her mouth, but couldn't say a word.
How could those two possibly still be married?
It's been a year!
A year ago, although we don't know what happened between the two of them, the president left and Jiang Tian went abroad. It wasn't until a year later that they reunited. Their lives must have undergone some immeasurable changes.
This year, not nothing has remained unchanged; time has propelled everyone forward.
For example, the cooperation between the two companies has completely ended, and both sides have returned to their own territories with a large sum of money.
Why should they get entangled in a marital relationship? It's unreasonable.
Are you still husband and wife?
Jiang Tian nodded: "Yes. I can tell you're an upright person, so you haven't done anything out of line this year. But—I'm a rather possessive person, and I'm not happy if anyone even glances at my things. Assistant Du, perhaps you'll have a better option."
Is she asserting her sovereignty?
Du Baiwei's fingernails dug deeply into her palm.
She bit her lip, as if someone had stripped away the last layer of cover, revealing the ugliest emotions in her heart.
Is there anything more cruel in the world than having a crush on a married man and being found out by his wife?
With courage she didn't know where it came from, Du Baiwei took a deep breath and looked at Jiang Tian again: "But you don't love the president at all. If you loved him, you wouldn't have abandoned him. He was so lonely this past year."
Jiang Tian raised an eyebrow: "He's incredibly wealthy and owns countless assets. I don't think he needs anyone's sympathy."
"But he was really lonely..."
For some reason, Du Baiwei's tears suddenly streamed down her face.
Was it a twist of fate, or an arrangement of destiny?
The man she loves is still married, and his wife has even asserted her dominance over her.
How embarrassing.
She doesn't want to give it up.
"Okay, I admit he's lonely, so what? There are many lonely people in this world, does his loneliness mean it's my fault?"
Du Baiwei didn't say anything; that was exactly what she thought.
“Assistant Du, if you think it’s not clear here, then we can find a place to talk properly. I don’t want you to give up a part of yourself because you admire someone. Cheng Yanzheng is indeed a good man, but during the marriage, he still belongs to me. You should wait a little longer instead of always looking at me with strange eyes.”
"My life is busy, and your workload is also heavy. Instead of wasting time judging other people's relationships, you should really think about your own feelings."
Du Baiwei didn't want to hear it.
She pursed her lips and stared at Jiang Tian for a while, then, ignoring her astonished gaze, chose to run away.
She couldn't face Jiang Tian honestly; no matter what she said, Jiang Tian was on the moral high ground.
But she was really upset.
Du Baiwei was very uneasy when she went to work, thinking that Jiang Tian would tell Cheng Yanzheng about their conversation.
But Cheng Yanzheng's attitude towards her remained unchanged.
It's obvious that he knows nothing.
Du Baiwei didn't know whether to be happy or sad.
"Is there anything else scheduled for this afternoon?" Cheng Yanzheng asked Du Baiwei.
Du Baiwei put away all her thoughts and told Cheng Yanzheng, "That's all."
"Um."
Cheng Yanzheng subconsciously adjusted his tie.
Du Baiwei could tell what he was expecting.
What else? Nothing more than being with Jiang Tian.
Their relationship seemed so good that everyone else was just an outsider.
Du Baiwei had nowhere to express the bitterness in her heart.
What she didn't know was that Cheng Yanzheng and Jiang Tian's relationship was equally twisted.
Jiang Tian is quite comfortable with the current situation; as long as feelings aren't mentioned, she's a great companion.
She became more patient with Cheng Yanzheng and was even willing to take care of him a little.
Cheng Yanzheng looked at the fruit she had carefully cut into pieces for him, then looked up at her again.
"What's wrong? Don't you like these fruits anymore? You used to enjoy them a year ago."
Jiang Tian, wearing a loose bathrobe, looked at him with a smile.
"You had a conversation with my assistant a couple of days ago."
Several days later, Cheng Yanzheng suddenly brought up the matter with her.
"Yes, that's right. But how did you know? Your assistant has had a crush on you for a while now. I noticed she was distracted and that the way she looked at me was off. I was going to ignore it, but she couldn't help but ask me first, trying to stand up for you. I couldn't help it, my acting instincts kicked in, and I played the wife in a bit."
