"That's precisely why I hope you'll agree..."
"What did I promise?" Wei Su's expression had changed.
"Promise me you'll deal with your relationship issues quickly, and don't pour all your feelings into me. I'm not worth it. I'm a terrible person."
Jiang Tian was unusually calm when she said this.
She described herself as "rotten," seemingly unaware that this was a form of self-deprecation.
How could she not realize it?
She knew her problem, but she was stuck.
Wei Su stared at her for a while before gently pulling her into his arms: "It's okay. Every step is a step in the journey. If you can't recover your emotions quickly, we can take it one step at a time. As long as we move forward a little each day, we will eventually reach the other side."
Jiang Tian noticed his seriousness and nodded in agreement.
The day after the two went to the amusement park, Wei Su received a call from Su Hanze.
When Su Hanze spoke, his tone was very cold: "I'm back in China. Let's find a place to meet."
He used a commanding tone, clearly not intending to delay any longer.
Wei Su glanced at Jiang Tian, who was reading a book to the side.
Jiang Tian slowly raised her head and asked him meaningfully, "Is he back?"
Wei Su turned around and glanced at her, then hummed in agreement.
"Then let's meet. We can't keep putting it off."
Jiang Tian immediately stood up, looking very efficient.
Wei Su turned to Su Hanze on the other end of the phone and said, "Okay, let's meet then."
The three met at a private coffee shop.
Su Hanze looked somewhat travel-worn.
If his life hadn't undergone such a dramatic change that even he found strange, he wouldn't have returned. After all, his work there was extremely important, and Su Hanze was currently prioritizing his career.
But if he can't even protect his wife, and his household is in ruins, then the idea of making his life perfect seems very distant, and he must come back to deal with this problem first.
Looking at the handsome couple in front of him, Su Hanze suddenly felt a sense of inexplicable absurdity.
How long has it been?
Was he abroad for a month? Or two months?
Is this couple really that good together?
They sat together, like a devoted couple.
Did they ever consider that their vows of eternal love were separated by him?
Do they even have a sense of shame?
For the first time, Su Hanze felt that his manners were not quite up to par, and he really wanted to curse.
Do you even know what you're doing?
Su Hanze couldn't help but speak to Jiang Tian.
His tone was accusatory.
Jiang Tian's betrayal of him was truly unexpected.
He couldn't understand why, at this critical juncture, his wife, whom he had always treated like a lamb, would turn to another man.
What could that man give her? Aside from needing an identity that required her to live in hiding, he could offer her nothing, yet she was still content with it.
Su Hanze didn't know what to say to her. Was this the magic of love?
“I am perfectly clear-headed, I am fully conscious, don’t worry. I am an adult now, I have very clear judgment, and I know what I am doing. If you ask such a pointless question, I think it’s a waste of both of our time. It’s not easy for us to sit down together, and you’ve come all the way from overseas, so let’s just get straight to the point.”
Jiang Tian looked at Su Hanze: "I want to end our relationship. I reiterated this point to you on the phone, and I'm saying it again now. I hope you can agree."
Su Hanze looked coldly at the woman in front of him.
Why did he agree? Why did he agree at this critical juncture?
"First of all, let me state my point of view—it is impossible for me to sever ties with you. I am currently at a critical stage in my career and need a lot of help, including in terms of reputation, so it is impossible for me to announce a divorce at this time, let alone let you two live happily ever after."
After saying this, Su Hanze turned to Wei Su: "Aren't you the same? Do you think you can completely break free from the family's control and choose your life freely now? Impossible. Since our generation has enjoyed all the protection brought by the family, we have to pay the corresponding price. Don't think you will be a survivor. You were just playing with her."
“I know you might have unusual tastes, liking married women like her. But I can’t tolerate you ruining my life with your manipulative intentions. If possible, I hope you can just back out, so I don’t have to say too many things I shouldn’t. We still have a business partnership, so we should prioritize our interests.”
Su Hanze chose a rational approach to negotiation. He knew that being irrational would not solve the problem, and that yelling and scolding the woman for cheating on him would not improve his life in the slightest.
Now, we should think of a solution first.
"So, Su-ge, what's your opinion?" Wei Su's tone was light and casual, giving the impression that he was joking.
“My opinion is that I am willing to forgive you and my wife. Let’s pretend nothing happened. My ties with Jiang Tian are deeper than yours, and I have known her for longer. I can say with certainty that you and she are not suitable for each other.”
"You two will only enjoy a moment of sweetness together before going your separate ways. Even if you can live together for a while, once the honeymoon period is over, the trivialities of life will weigh you down."
Su Hanze looked at Wei Su meaningfully: "Your family won't allow you to be with a woman who has been married and has other burdens."
After saying this, he turned to look at Jiang Tian.
His tone was less polite towards Jiang Tian: "I'll allow you to come out and have fun this time, but everyone has their limits. I can go with you to your sister's place, but you'll have to wait until I'm done with my work. Also, I've already completely forgotten what you said to me on the phone."
"I can repeat myself, I thought I had said it seriously enough. In your eyes, are my words just like the wind, blowing past you?"
Jiang Tian stared at him.
Su Hanze's eyes were cold: "You'd better not always act like the whole world owes you something. When we got married, you agreed, and since you agreed, you should have a sense of contract."
"We are already divorced."
Su Hanze was silent for a while, then spoke again after a few seconds: "The divorce was just to sign a property transfer agreement at the time. I was afraid that you would be involved and make the distribution of property unclear. We can get a new marriage certificate at any time. Anyway, what is recognized in the circle is not the marriage certificate, but the wedding ceremony. I gave you a grand wedding, so don't forget it."
