"Why is the Crown Prince distracted? Could it be that he is dissatisfied with my arrangements?"
Xiao Sheng snapped out of his daze and saw Wei Yunting smiling at him.
Both of them were shrewd individuals. Xiao Sheng knew that this man was extremely suspicious and might still be doubting whether he had been eavesdropping.
He then deliberately teased, "Your Highness is getting worse as you get older. The reason I was distracted is because of your outrageous actions. Hiding me in a woman's bedroom in a secret room and then making her study medicine, Your Highness is becoming more and more unrestrained."
Wei Yunting wasn't angry. He noticed that Xiao Sheng seemed to look down on Jiang Tian, so he spoke up.
"Since I have agreed to Your Majesty's request to bring you to my territory, I intend to assist you in ascending the throne. From now on, we will be allies, so I will not hide anything from you."
Xiao Sheng's expression turned solemn.
Wei Yunting said frankly, "When I took that mistress, I did have ulterior motives, but not anymore. In my heart, she is my only wife in this life."
“When your father went on an incognito tour, I was on friendly terms with him. By right, you should call me uncle and her aunt. If I hear you being disrespectful to her again, I will not care about your status.”
Wei Yunting was destined to be childless and had no ambition to usurp the throne, which is why he was able to help Xiao Sheng with peace of mind.
Assisting him does not mean being subservient to him when things are not yet accomplished.
Xiao Sheng is still young and relies on him. If he dares to disrespect Jiang Tian, he has plenty of ways to deal with him.
Xiao Sheng grew up hearing about Wei Yunting's fierceness.
But that doesn't mean he's afraid of him.
"I never thought you were such a devoted lover. Your mistress has become your Achilles' heel. If someone uses her to threaten you one day, how can our great cause still succeed?" Xiao Shengping spoke calmly, but his words went straight to the heart of the matter.
Wei Yunting's aura was in no way inferior to his: "If I can't even protect her, how can I talk about fighting for the country with a brat like you?"
Xiao Sheng stared intently at him: "Even the most meticulous plans can have flaws. If Your Highness truly cares for her, then you should keep a close eye on her."
"What she wants to do is none of your business, you junior."
Both of them were outstanding individuals, and neither was at a disadvantage when they faced off.
At this moment, the door to the dark room slowly opened, revealing Jiang Tian's figure.
She noticed the awkward atmosphere between the two, but asked nothing. She simply put down the medicine in her hand and said to Xiao Sheng, "Your liver fire has been too strong lately, so I made you some medicine. Remember to drink it."
Then she said to Wei Yunting, "Don't just stand here, come upstairs with me."
Xiao Sheng keenly noticed that when Jiang Tian spoke to him, her tone was calm and even.
When she speaks to Wei Yunting, even in a flat tone, you can still hear a hint of softness in her voice.
Sure enough, upon hearing Jiang Tian's words, Wei Yunting's eyes softened, and his imposing aura vanished. He said gently to Jiang Tian, "Alright, I'll go up with you now."
Seeing the two of them being so intimate and oblivious to everyone else as they prepared to leave, Xiao Sheng felt a strange sense of irritation.
He didn't know what was bothering him, but he felt that the scene of the two being affectionate was a little jarring.
After a moment's thought, Xiao Sheng spoke again, his tone tinged with amusement: "Madam Jiang, I heard that you treated my injuries."
Wei Yunting's eyes turned cold.
Jiang Tian turned to look at him and nodded: "I just bandaged you up."
"Then I must thank you. Whether you want fine silks, gold and silver jewelry, or anything else, I'll get it for you."
Xiao Sheng spoke with great generosity.
"I don't want anything, I just hope that the young master's injuries will heal quickly and that he can move out of the dark room. Furthermore, I hope that you will not anger the prince. I don't care what conflicts exist between the two of you, if you anger him, you are offending me."
Upon hearing this, Wei Yunting paused for a moment, then the corners of his mouth slowly turned up.
Xiao Sheng's face turned ashen. He saw Wei Yunting's smugness and suddenly smirked: "The relationship between the two of you is truly enviable. It makes me want to get married too."
Then, his tone carried a hint of ambiguity: "I just wonder if Madam Jiang knows that you and one of the Prince's old friends look very similar."
