Han Li reached out and pulled Jiang Tian into his arms, letting out a long sigh of relief.
In truth, he knew that Jiang Tian was with him now not because she was deeply in love with him, but simply because she wanted to do something for him, to repay him for taking care of her for five years, and to seek some benefits for her daughter.
But he was the one who was interested in Jiang Tian first. She didn't ignore him and was even willing to get close to him. What more could he ask for?
Moreover, Jiang Tian has made it clear that she has no feelings for Shen Yunchen anymore, which can be considered as relieving him of one of his worries.
Han Li thought about it and realized that Shen Yunchen and Ming Qiangwei coming to the Northern Base wasn't necessarily a bad thing. At least it allowed Jiang Tian to see the true face of her former handsome fiancé.
As for him and Jiang Tian, that requires a gradual approach.
Jiang Tian is naturally reserved, and she turns red from ear to neck after saying a few sweet words. He couldn't scare her any further.
Han Li thought it over carefully and then advised Jiang Tian: "Don't put yourself under unnecessary psychological burden. That woman is right. What era are we living in? Why bother with those things? If Shen Yunchen really cared about you, he wouldn't have brought another woman to the Northern Base. Since he's not a good person, why are you staying for him? Aren't you just ruining yourself?"
Patting her on the back, Han Li's tone became even more somber: "You chose me, which means you've abandoned darkness for light, and you're correcting your mistakes."
Jiang Tian didn't say anything more, but simply raised her arm and wrapped it around Han Li as a response.
Having resolved his inner conflict, Han Li took Jiang Tian to the laboratory to see Mengmeng.
Dr. Liu looks much more haggard these past few days; he's lost count of how many days he hasn't slept.
If it weren't for the various medications that kept him going, he wouldn't even have the strength to speak.
Upon seeing Jiang Tian, Dr. Liu felt like he had seen a savior: "How did you raise this child? She's driving me crazy!"
Dr. Liu, who was dedicated to contributing to scientific development, did not have any plans for marriage, so he had no descendants.
His works and inventions are enough to be remembered for generations; people only need to remember his name, not his descendants.
So he was completely clueless about taking care of children.
"After the smell on your coat disappeared, your daughter went crazy. If my lab hadn't been so sturdy, she might have torn it apart."
He complained as he gave Mengmeng a potion to smell.
Soon, the sleeping child opened his eyes.
When she saw Jiang Tian, it's no exaggeration to say that her eyes lit up.
"Mother!"
Jiang Tian was embraced tightly by her!
The mother and daughter hadn't seen each other for a long time, and they were incredibly close.
As Han Li looked at them, he asked Dr. Liu, "How's the research going?"
Dr. Liu is no longer tired once this is mentioned.
He said in a solemn tone, "This child may be able to save humanity."
That's a really big statement.
But no one present was surprised.
All three of them were well aware of Mengmeng's unusual behavior.
Dr. Liu explained to them briefly: "I can confirm that this child is not a zombie in the true sense. Even if she had become a zombie, she would still retain all the human nature."
Then his tone became somewhat complicated: "The path of science is infinitely long. I have worked hard for this period of time, and I can only ensure that Mengmeng maintains her human form. As for cracking the secrets within her, it may take even longer."
Dr. Liu is a genius among geniuses for being able to keep Mengmeng in human form.
But Han Li frowned, clearly dissatisfied.
