Jiang Qing was born a favored daughter of heaven; smooth sailing is not enough to describe her success.
She got everything she wanted, except for the heartbreak Chen Fenglie caused her. Otherwise, she was always the winner.
Jiang Qing's face turned extremely ugly as her older sister, whom she had always looked down upon, asked her for something with such a cold and hard attitude.
Watching from the side, Mr. Jiang felt utterly humiliated.
It was clear that Jiang Qing didn't want to give it, and after a brief hesitation, Jiang's father still sided with his youngest daughter.
“Jiang Tian, this jade pendant… why don’t you just leave it? Your sister has worn it for so many years, it’s very precious to her, and it’s a good home for her.”
Mrs. Jiang immediately chimed in, "That's right, Jiang Tian, this jade pendant suits Qingqing better than you. Can I give you another one?"
Jiang Qing opened her mouth to speak, but ultimately said nothing.
Her hand instinctively pressed on the jade pendant, a gesture of defense against others trying to take it.
Sensing the couple's bias, Zhou Yancheng felt a tightness in his chest for some reason.
Jiang Tian turned to look at the Jiang couple: "Is this your decision?"
Her expression betrayed no emotion, but anyone could tell she was in a bad mood.
"Yes, Dad, you know you're a good daughter. You're all grown up now, so don't be so willful. Give in to your sister a little."
Seeing that Jiang Tian did not explode, her father assumed that she still cared about her family and began to discipline her in a perfunctory manner.
"Okay." Jiang Tian nodded.
Upon hearing this word, Mr. and Mrs. Jiang's eyes lit up with joy, and Jiang Qing's hand, which was holding the jade pendant, loosened slightly.
However, the next second, Jiang Tian took out her phone and dialed a number: "Hello, I want to report a crime. My mother's jade pendant, worth millions, was stolen. I've already caught the culprit—"
Before she could finish speaking, a strong force snatched the phone away. Mr. Jiang's face turned ashen, and he threw the phone onto the floor.
The next second, the phone screen shattered into a spiderweb pattern.
"Jiang Tian, are you crazy?!" Jiang's father was so angry that his eyes turned red!
If this gets to the police, their whole family will become famous!
Jiang Tian met his gaze without flinching: "I have enough evidence to prove that the jade pendant was a gift from my mother. If you want to take it away, go tell the police!"
The entire living room was completely silent.
Chen Fenglie's eyes widened in shock as he stared at Jiang Tian, as if he were seeing his ex-wife for the first time.
After a few seconds of confrontation, the father finally spoke: "Jiang Qing, give her the jade pendant."
His voice carried the dejection of a loser.
Jiang Qing was also frightened by Jiang Tian's earlier threat to call the police. She did not refuse again, took off the jade pendant she had worn for so many years, walked up to Jiang Tian, and handed it to her.
Jiang Tian took out a clean handkerchief and gestured for her to put it on.
"If it gets dirty, I won't touch it. Just put it back up."
Jiang Qing bit her lip, a hint of resentment towards Jiang Tian appearing in her eyes, but she still put it down.
No one else spoke.
Zhou Yancheng bent down to pick up Jiang Tian's shattered phone, quietly walked to her side, and asked, "Shall we go?"
Jiang Tian looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears.
Zhou Yancheng felt as if someone had bumped into his heart.
"Walk."
She reached out and took Zhou Yancheng's hand.
Feeling the coldness in her palms, Zhou Yancheng pursed his lips, took her hand, and the two walked silently to the door.
Just as she was about to leave, Jiang's father spoke up: "Jiang Tian, you don't need to come back anymore."
Neither of them looked back; they just walked away.
On the way back, Jiang Tian didn't say a word.
She sat in the back, her eyes vacant.
When they arrived home, Zhou Yancheng opened the car door for her. It took Jiang Tian a while to react before she managed a smile and said to Zhou Yancheng, "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
When they returned to that cozy little house, Zhou Yancheng noticed that Jiang Tian seemed more relaxed.
It was getting late, so Jiang Tian said to Zhou Yancheng, "Are you hungry? I'll go make you some food."
Just as Zhou Yancheng was about to refuse, Jiang Tian added, "Let me be busy for a while."
After hesitating for a few seconds, Zhou Yancheng said, "Thank you."
He wanted to help, but Jiang Tian said she didn't need it, so he had to give up.
Jiang Tian cooked four dishes and also made a soup.
After setting the dishes down, she took out a bottle of whiskey and asked Zhou Yancheng, "Would you mind if I had a little?"
After leaving the Jiang family, she was like a wandering ghost, and Zhou Yancheng did not stop her.
Perhaps she needs alcohol at this moment.
Moreover, she was very tactful and did not deliberately invite him.
If he makes some concessions for her, it's not a very serious problem.
"Drink up, but don't drink too much."
"Thank you."
Jiang Tian smiled, poured herself a glass, and took a sip.
Seeing that she was very obedient, Zhou Yancheng felt relieved.
He picked up some food and noticed that Jiang Tian's cooking skills had improved even more than before.
The two of them, one eating food and the other drinking wine, actually created an inexplicable harmony.
"I'll have your phone repaired tomorrow. I know someone who can help me. If I give it to someone else, your privacy might be violated."
Seeing that Jiang Tian's expression was no longer as pale as before, Zhou Yancheng brought up the matter of the phone.
Jiang Tian was stunned for a moment, then expressed her gratitude to him: "Thank you for your trouble."
"No need. You treated me to dinner, I should repay you."
Zhou Yancheng was still determined to draw a clear line between the two of them.
Jiang Tian smiled and said, "Okay."
"Let me tell you a little secret: I didn't actually call that number at all. I just pretended, and they believed me. They were really afraid of losing face."
