Chapter 136 The General's Daughter Poisoned by a Love Poison in the Ancient World (6)

Xu Nian encountered the search party sent by Xu Chengming. If she hadn't stopped them quickly when they surrounded her, A Jiang would have poisoned her to death.

"Sister, A-Jiang didn't know they were looking for you. A-Jiang just wanted to protect you." After helping everyone detoxify, A-Jiang looked at Xu Nian with a wronged expression, showing that she really just wanted to protect her.

After checking on everyone and making sure they were alright, Xu Nian comforted A Jiang, saying, "It's not your fault; you meant well."

The group, now cured of the poison, looked at Ah Jiang with different eyes; their eyes were filled with hope.

“Young Miss, where did you find this person? We’ve been searching in the Northern Frontier for over ten days and haven’t found a single person from there,” the leader said apologetically.

It's not that we didn't see anyone; we only found ordinary people who didn't know any Gu poison techniques.

"I met him by chance." Xu Nian's meeting with A Jiang was entirely due to luck.

"That's great! We'll head back now to rescue General Xu." The leader was delighted and had someone bring over a horse, the very one Xu Nian had released.

"What's Ah Bai doing here?" Xu Nian stroked her beloved horse, her face beaming with the joy of having found it again.

"Ah Bai found us on his own. We only saw the horse and not Miss. We were all worried that Miss was alright. We are just glad that you are safe and sound, otherwise the young general would be very sad." The leader was an old man from the Xu family army. According to seniority, Xu Nian could call him Uncle.

"I'm sorry to have worried everyone, let's go home." Xu Nian mounted her horse and reached out her hand to A Jiang.

Amidst the astonished gazes of the group, the two rode together on a single horse.

When they arrived at a town, Xu Nian spent money to buy a horse for A Jiang to use for the journey.

Riding alone on horseback, without her sweet and soft older sister, Ah Jiang's face fell.

He wanted to say that he couldn't ride a horse, but that would make him seem too weak, and his sister wouldn't like him.

Looking at the young man lagging behind the group, the leader of the group said to Xu Nian, "Miss, he's so young, are you sure he can cure General Xu's poison?"

Xu Nian could understand the leader's unease; A Jiang did look too young, and in terms of appearance, he was indeed not convincing.

“I told him about my father’s condition, and he knew that my father had been poisoned by several kinds of Gu poison. He even took me to find the antidote and told me that he could cure my father without any problem.” Xu Nian inexplicably believed that A Jiang would not lie to her.

"But Miss, he seems to have unusual feelings for you." After saying that, the leader glanced at A-Jiang again.

The boy's passionate and sincere feelings were never hidden; they were so obvious that everyone present understood that he liked Xu Nian.

"I know, as long as it can save my father, what does it matter!" Xu Nian smiled faintly.

"The young general will not agree." The leader knew that not only would the young general not agree, but even when General Xu woke up, he would not agree.

"We'll see when the time comes." Xu Nian had no intention of backing out; it would just depend on whether A Jiang could get Xu's father's consent.

The group hurried along and finally returned to the military camp after seven or eight days of travel.

Upon learning of their return, Xu Chengming anxiously came out to greet them.

Seeing that his sister was safe and sound, he breathed a sigh of relief and then searched for the person he was looking for in the group.

However, after looking around, Xu Chengming still couldn't find the person he expected, and his face turned pale. "Didn't the messenger carrier pigeon say they found him? Where is he?"

"Ah Jiang, come and meet my brother," Xu Nian called out to Ah Jiang.

Upon hearing Xu Nian's words, A Jiang dismounted and walked over happily to Xu Chengming, saying, "Hello, brother. My name is A Jiang, and I am Nian Nian's betrothed."

"..." The scene fell silent for a moment, and everyone looked at the boy, somewhat unable to believe what he had said.

What is a fiancé who is not yet married?

Does anyone still introduce themselves like this?

Xu Chengming looked at Xu Nian, hoping she could give a reasonable explanation.

She went out for a short while and came back with a fiancé. Does she even care about him, her brother?

"Brother, let's talk about this later. How is Father?" Xu Nian awkwardly pulled A Jiang to her side, worried about her father's condition.

"Dr. Fang said that Father is not going to make it. You should go and see him!" Xu Chengming's eyes darkened when he mentioned his father.

Upon hearing this, Xu Nian pulled A Jiang along and went to Xu's father's tent.

As soon as I entered the tent, I saw Xu's father, who was emaciated and convulsing in pain.

His exposed skin was covered in bulging veins, his eyes were protruding, and he was making painful "heh heh" sounds.

Dr. Fang was giving him acupuncture, but it only relieved his pain slightly.

"Ah Jiang, please save my father." Xu Nian looked at Ah Jiang with pleading eyes.

"Don't worry, sister, A-Jiang will definitely bring your father back. Don't cry." A-Jiang took off the cloth bag from her waist and walked to Xu's father's side to check his physical condition.

Confirming that the curse on Xu's father was as he had suspected, A-Jiang took out a small knife and made a small cut on Xu's father's wrist.

Then he opened a small bamboo tube and placed it on the wound. After a while, something started wriggling on Xu's father's wrist.

When the Gu worm fully emerged, A-Jiang swiftly picked it out and put it into the small bamboo tube.

After the Gu worm was removed, Xu's father, who had been in unbearable pain, calmed down.

"Is that all?" Doctor Fang looked at A Jiang in surprise.

"Not yet, there are other Gu worms in his body," A-Jiang said, shaking his head.

"Young man, how can I help you?" Doctor Fang was willing to assist A Jiang in order to broaden his knowledge.

"Sister, would you please go out first?" A-Jiang was afraid that what was about to happen would make Xu Nian uncomfortable, so she wanted her to leave.

“Okay, I’ll wait outside the tent. I’m entrusting my father to you.” Xu Nian had a different idea; she thought the secret technique for curing the poison was something she couldn’t see.

As soon as they stepped out of the tent, Xu Nian saw Xu Chengming trying to go in. She stopped him and said, "Brother, A-Jiang is removing the curse from Father. You can't go in."

"What? That boy named A-Jiang can save my father!" Xu Chengming suddenly looked up, his eyes welling up with tears of excitement.

He thought his father was beyond saving, and he was even planning to send his sister away.

“Of course, I just saw that A-Jiang has already removed one of the Gu worms from Father.” Xu Nian smiled with relief.

"It's good that my father can be saved, it's good that my father can be saved." Xu Chengming covered his eyes with his hands to stop himself from crying.

"Brother, you've worked so hard these past few days." Xu Nian hugged her only brother.

"I'm not tired. Sister, you must have suffered a lot on the way to find someone to rescue Father, right?" Xu Chengming looked at Xu Nian with heartache. She was already thin, and she was even thinner this time.

"It's alright," Xu Nian said, looking somewhat uncomfortable.

"Sister, what exactly is your relationship with that A-Jiang?" Xu Chengming hadn't forgotten that he claimed to be Xu Nian's betrothed.
