Xu Nian temporarily let go of the strange villagers and wandered barefoot through the village, finding these strange people dressed as villagers to be very strange.
Some people slammed the door shut as soon as they saw her, while others ran away as if they had seen a ghost.
The village wasn't big, with only about twenty households. Xu Nian finished exploring it in about ten minutes.
As she was walking, the door of a house made of bluestone opened from the inside as she passed by it.
A handsome young man emerged, wearing a white shirt with a khaki trench coat over it, jeans, and sneakers.
The boy seemed surprised to see people as soon as he came out.
Moreover, Xu Nian's attire was so eye-catching that he stared at her blankly, momentarily stunned.
"Hey classmate, it's not very polite of you to stare at people like that!" Xu Nian chuckled.
"I'm sorry, I was just... I'm sorry, sister." The boy blushed and turned his head away, his shy appearance making Xu Nian think to herself, "So cute."
"Can't you just say sorry?" Xu Nian approached step by step, stopping only when she was a fist's distance away from him.
If he's a living person, then she won't be polite with his clothes.
"Hey! What are you doing? We've only just met. Although you're very pretty, isn't this too fast...!" The boy's cheeks flushed red as he clutched his clothes tightly, like a respectable man being teased.
"What are you thinking? You're so young and you're already behaving badly. Give me your clothes as an apology." Xu Nian forcefully took off the other person's clothes and put them on herself.
The boy, whose clothes had been inexplicably stolen, stared blankly at Xu Nian wearing his clothes, and then she focused her attention on his shoes.
Startled, he immediately took a few steps back and leaned against the bluestone wall of the house.
"Forget it, I can't wear it." Xu Nian shook her head.
Seeing the boy she had robbed so frightened, Xu Nian walked up to him, patted him on the shoulder, and smiled at his bewildered expression, saying, "Don't be afraid, I'm not going to eat you."
"What...what else do you want to do?" the boy asked warily.
"Of course we're going to cooperate. You don't want to beat this game all by yourself, do you?" Xu Nian rolled her eyes.
"I'm not alone. My companions are all in the village ancestral hall." The boy's words surprised Xu Nian. So she was the only one who was alone!
Xu Nian pondered for a moment and then asked, "How many times have you played this game?"
The boy thought for a long time before saying, "The third time."
Xu Nian was surprised, not expecting that this seemingly harmless boy was a veteran player.
"What's your name?" Xu Nian asked casually.
“He Lin, He as in He Kuang, and Lin as in forest.” After saying his name, the boy looked at Xu Nian with expectant eyes.
"My name is Xu Nian, and this is my first time playing this game," Xu Nian said nonchalantly.
“My sister doesn’t seem to be wary of people,” He Lin suddenly said.
"Hmm?" Xu Nian looked at him in confusion, while He Lin smiled shyly.
"Since you're alone, why don't you team up with us?" Xu Nian accepted He Lin's invitation, wanting to see if these people had any other clues.
She's really not good at solving puzzles and puzzles; if she could, she wouldn't even want to use her brain.
On the way, after He Lin got to know Xu Nian a bit better, he pointed at Yuanbao and asked, "Is this weird pet my newbie reward?"
"Hmm!" Xu Nian realized that there were rewards for new players, so why hadn't she received any?
"Sister is so lucky, everyone on our team got one-time use items." He Lin said enviously. He wanted to touch Yuanbao, but Yuanbao refused and dodged away.
"It only gets close to my sister!" He Lin's mournful gaze made Xu Nian silently move away from him.
Help! This boy is so cute, she can't handle his cuteness!
"Sister, were you teleported here while you were sleeping?" He Lin asked, looking at Xu Nian's feet peeking out from under her trench coat.
"Yeah! I woke up and found myself in this game." Xu Nian twitched her fair toes, her face full of frustration.
"Oh, I see. Then you can wear my shoes, sister!" He Lin took off her sneakers and placed them next to Xu Nian's feet.
"And what about you?" Xu Nian stood still.
"It's okay, sister. It wouldn't be good if such pretty feet got scratched by pebbles on the road." He Lin squatted down and placed Xu Nian's feet on his white shirt without allowing any refusal. After making sure they were clean, he put on her sneakers.
After doing all this, he stood up with a flushed face and said, "Sister, I was just afraid you would refuse. I was being presumptuous."
"It's nothing, thank you." Xu Nian's paused thoughts started flowing again, and she smiled to express her gratitude.
But a suspicion arose in her heart, and she called to Yuanbao, "Yuanbao, find out who this He Lin is?"
“Host, I couldn’t find any information about He Lin,” Yuanbao replied quickly.
"Who was that veteran player that the original owner was clinging to?" Xu Nian asked, changing her approach.
“It’s a man named Cheng Hao.” Yuanbao’s reply immediately put Xu Nian at ease.
This person isn't the veteran player the original owner was clinging to, nor is he a character from the story. He's probably just a random passerby; it seems she was overthinking it.
"Host, why do you suddenly want to know about He Lin?" Yuanbao asked curiously.
"When he was wiping my feet just now, I don't know if it was intentional or not, but my feet brushed against his chest several times, and his heart was beating very fast and erratically." Xu Nian wasn't sure about her guess, which is why she asked Yuanbao to check. Now it seems that she was overthinking it.
I guess the child doesn't have much contact with women, and was too nervous when I wiped her feet!
