Chapter 302 The Demon-Slaying Taoist Priest in the World of Immortals (2)

"Host, help!" Yuanbao's eyes lit up when it saw Xu Nian, and it crawled away on its paws, rushing towards Xu Nian at top speed.

The white fox clinging to its back was as if it were glued to the ingot's back, and it didn't move an inch throughout the entire process.

Yuanbao ran up to Xu Nian and looked at her with a pleading expression. The white fox also looked over at Yuanbao.

The white fox was only the size of a pair of palms. Its clear black and white eyes shone with a spiritual light as it stared intently at Xu Nian, making a melodious "whimpering" sound.

Upon hearing the white fox's cry, Yuanbao turned around in surprise to examine it, then turned to Xu Nian and said, "Host, this white fox seems to be trying to befriend you!"

"Hmm? Is it trying to be friendly with me?" Xu Nian raised her eyebrows slightly, observed the white fox with her Daoist cultivation technique, and seeing that it had no demonic aura, she put away the peach wood sword and bell in her hand.

She crouched down and tentatively approached the white fox with her hand. To her surprise, the little creature wasn't shy at all. As soon as she reached out her hand, it nudged its head towards her.

Seeing it squinting its eyes and rubbing against its palm with a contented expression, Xu Nian's heart softened, and she was instantly charmed by the white fox.

"Ahhh! Host, it's so cute, I want to touch it too!" Yuanbao screamed excitedly in Xu Nian's mind.

The white fox seemed to sense Yuanbao's thoughts. It opened its eyes menacingly while rubbing against Xu Nian's palm and immediately swiped a claw at Yuanbao's head.

Perhaps it was still a juvenile, and its claws were not yet sharp, only leaving three red scratches on Yuanbao's head.

Xu Nian frowned in displeasure upon seeing this. She herself wouldn't dare to bully her own Yuanbao, so how could she let a fox bully it?

She grabbed the white fox by the scruff of its neck and, to its bewildered gaze, tossed it away.

"Waaah!" The white fox drew a graceful arc in the air and fell into the grass, looking at Xu Nian with its watery eyes.

Seeing that she was unmoved, it let out a pitiful whimper and then hobbled toward her.

It would walk a few steps and then stop, occasionally letting out a "whimpering" sound, hoping that its cute appearance would soften her heart.

Xu Nian's gaze did pause for a moment.

But foxes are wild animals, and this white fox looks to be a juvenile. Its mother might be nearby, and it wouldn't be good for her to take it away rashly.

Moreover, she is now a Taoist priest, which makes it even less suitable for her to keep small animals.

Thinking of this, Xu Nian picked up the round and chubby Yuanbao and said, "Yuanbao, let's go."

"Host, what should we do with that white fox?" Yuanbao peeked out from Xu Nian's arms, looking at the white fox with reluctance.

It's so cute, I really want to keep it.

Amidst the white fox's soft moans, Xu Nian, after walking a few steps, finally softened. She pinched Yuanbao's ear and said, "Yuanbao, look around and see if there are any fox dens or female foxes nearby!"

Soon, Yuanbao exclaimed, "Host, there are no traces of fox dens or wooden foxes around here."

"No? Then where did this young white fox come from?" Xu Nian looked at the white fox curiously, then at Yuanbao.

When Yuanbao asked her for help, he said that the white fox had fallen from the sky.

How is that possible?

No matter how intelligent a young white fox is, it can't fly to the heavens!

Did someone drop it from the sky?

It's even more impossible to think about; those who can fly in the sky are all gods.

Who would take a young white fox up into the sky and then drop it back down? Isn't that blatant cruelty?

While Xu Nian was talking to Yuan Bao, the little white fox had already come to her feet. It leaned pitifully against her ankle, making pitiful "woof woof" sounds.

"Host, it looks so pitiful." Yuanbao jumped down from Xu Nian's arms, came to the little white fox's side, and affectionately rubbed its pig head against it.

Upon seeing Yuanbao approach, the pitiful little white fox immediately bristled, baring its teeth and warning Yuanbao not to come near it.

Yuanbao was heartbroken and sat down on the ground, weeping. "Host, the white fox cub doesn't like me, it's set its sights on you."

Upon hearing this, Xu Nian lowered her eyes, and as soon as her gaze fell to her feet, she met the little white fox's aggrieved and pitiful eyes.

Those bright eyes stared straight at her, as if questioning why she didn't like it.

It has to be said that the little white fox is really beautiful; just one look from it can melt the hearts of girls.

So, Yuanbao has even started pretending to be an em for this little white fox.

"Yuanbao, stop fooling around." Xu Nian sighed helplessly.

She really couldn't afford to keep two pets. Yuanbao was alright; it didn't have many demands except for roast suckling pig.

But the little white fox is different; it needs to eat meat, and how could a Taoist priest like her have so much money to raise a fox!

"Host, it's so cute and adorable, don't you want to keep it?" Yuanbao struggled desperately, realizing that his little secret had been seen through.

"Yuanbao, have you caught a virus?" Xu Nian picked up Yuanbao and looked him over, only to be met with Yuanbao's bewildered and stupid gaze.

It's alright, Yuanbao is still Yuanbao. It seems she's overthinking things.

"Host, how can you suspect that I'm infected with a virus? The little white fox is so cute, what's wrong with me liking it a little?" Yuanbao waved its paws and argued defiantly.

“It’s not normal that you like it,” Xu Nian flicked Yuanbao’s head and reminded him.

It's a system that knows what liking is, yet it just happens to have a strange fondness for the little white fox.

"Host, you underestimate me. I have feelings too. Once I'm fully grown up, I'll have even more feelings," Yuanbao grumbled defiantly.

"Yuanbao, will you become a person after you develop feelings?" Xu Nian's topic had completely veered off course, and she had completely forgotten about the little white fox.

"No, even if I have emotions, it doesn't change the fact that my essence is a string of data. Even if I have a human appearance, I can't be considered a human," Yuanbao said, mimicking the tone of a wise man.

"I can't become a human!" Xu Nian muttered in disappointment.

"Host, let's not talk about me anymore."

"I want to raise a little white fox. I'll find food for it. Can you let it come with us?" Yuanbao said coquettishly, tugging at the hem of Xu Nian's Taoist robe with its front paws.

"I support you myself, how are you going to feed the little white fox? You can't exactly catch mice for it to eat, can you?" Mr. Xu glared at Yuanbao in exasperation.

“I can teach it to eat grass, and I can even share half of the roast suckling pig with it.”

"Just half, no more than that," Yuanbao said, gesturing with his paws with a pained expression.

Even though she was reluctant, she insisted on giving it away in a dramatic and resentful manner, which made Xu Nian feel heartbroken. "Since you like it so much, then let it stay with you for now."

"Yay! Host is the best!" Yuanbao jumped around happily, his carefree manner leaving the little white fox completely bewildered.

Is this piglet sick?

The piglet seems to be her pet. If something happens to it, she'll be heartbroken, right?
