Chapter 31 The Revengeful Female Supporting Character in a Political Intrigue Novel (1)

Looking around, the rosewood canopy bed was covered with gorgeous decorations, the furniture in the room was carved with exquisite patterns, and the screen was decorated with various pictures of ladies.

In the corner, a pot of lush green asparagus fern further accentuates the exquisite interior furnishings, making this a room of great elegance.

"Yuanbao." Xu Nian quickly communicated with the system.

"Here I am, host." Yuanbao's cheerful voice rang in Xu Nian's mind.

"The plot." Xu Nian saw that no one was around, which was a good time, otherwise it would be troublesome if someone came later.

Yuanbao immediately told Xu Nian, "Host, the original owner was also named Xu Nian. She was the eldest daughter-in-law of the Liu family, a fallen noble family. But before she married into the family, her husband had already died unexpectedly."

Her husband had a younger brother who was the sole heir of the Liu family. He was not particularly talented and was also a heavy drinker and womanizer, so he was not capable of supporting the future of the Liu family.

The Liu family saw that the original owner was young, beautiful, and gorgeous, so they started to have wicked ideas about her.

To protect the reputation of the Liu family, they first fed the original owner a drug that would prevent her from having children, then drugged her and sent her to a superior for his pleasure.

When the original owner woke up, the situation was already set in stone, and they even turned around and accused the original owner of being unable to bear the loneliness and having an affair.

They even threatened her with the original owner's family, saying that if she didn't swallow her anger, they would tell people how her family raised their daughter and see how she would ever get married.

Having lost her innocence, and with no evidence to prove that she was framed by the Liu family, the original owner could only swallow her anger in despair.

The original owner never expected that this was just the beginning. From then on, she would always wake up in unfamiliar places, with unfamiliar men always by her side.

The original owner asked his parents for help, but they only gave him a bottle of medicine, arsenic.

The original owner was unwilling to accept it. She wasn't the one who did wrong, so why should she die while those villains could live a glamorous life?

However, before the original owner could take revenge on everyone...

As the increasingly prosperous Liu family felt that the original owner was no longer useful, in order to cover up the dirty deeds they had done, the original owner was poisoned to death.

They felt that the original owner of this body, who had been promiscuous, was unworthy of being buried in the ancestral tomb of the Liu family, so they threw her corpse into a mass grave.

“The Liu family is disgusting and despicable. Yuanbao, what is the mission this time?” Xu Nian asked.

“To avenge the original owner, the original owner’s reward is a piece of her soul,” Yuanbao said immediately.

"Helping to avenge someone is a mission I've never received before. What would happen if the original owner lost a soul?" Xu Nian asked curiously.

“If a normal person loses a piece of their soul, they will have intellectual problems after reincarnation.” Yuanbao sighed, but the original owner’s obsession was too strong; he just wanted revenge.

"How does she want to take revenge?" Xu Nian asked, looking at her reflection in the bronze mirror.

"The original owner wanted everyone in the Liu family to die a horrible death," Yuanbao relayed.

Xu Nian: "I understand, she'll be keeping an eye on things, right?"

Yuanbao: "The original owner would have been watching these revenge missions."

"That's good." Xu Nian picked up the sandalwood comb on the table and combed her jet-black hair again and again.

"Host, the original owner has already married into the Liu family during this period, so you need to be careful," Yuanbao warned.

"Yuanbao, ask the original owner if she's willing to share her memories with me." Xu Nian thought about how there were many rules and clear class distinctions in ancient times, and how she could die if she accidentally offended someone.

“Host, the original owner was willing, but if you rashly accept the memories of a stranger, it will damage your soul,” Yuanbao said worriedly.

If the host's soul is strong enough, it doesn't even need to explain the plot to the host; the host can receive it on its own.

“My soul was strengthened in the last world, so I should be fine.” Xu Nian didn’t know how it happened, but she knew that her soul had been strengthened.

"Alright, please accept the memories, host." After Yuanbao finished speaking, a wave of unfamiliar memories surged into Xu Nian's mind.

The memory was received smoothly, and Xu Nian did not experience any discomfort.

Yuanbao was happy but also sad, because Xu Nian's increased power meant that there were fewer places that needed him.

Rubbing her temples, Xu Nian opened her eyes and looked at the aloof beauty in the mirror, a hint of regret flashing in her eyes.

The original owner's life was truly tragic. She was betrothed as a child, but her fiancé died before they were married. However, her family still married her into the Marquis's mansion for the sake of their reputation.

She had thought she would live out her life alone, serving her husband as a widow for the rest of her days.

Unexpectedly, the Liu family used her as a bargaining chip for their future, and when they finally thought she was no longer useful, they killed her without even giving her a proper burial, leaving her body exposed in the wilderness.

Xu Nian frowned. She needed to think about how to get revenge. If the Liu family wanted to climb the social ladder, then she would turn that climb into a death warrant.

Unfortunately, tonight they are going to drug her and send her to the bed of some important person.

The original owner was unconscious throughout the entire incident and had no idea who this important figure was.

Xu Nian's eyes flashed as she thought of this. She didn't know if this important figure had helped the Liu family prosper in the later stages, but the fact that he could do such a thing to a comatose woman meant that he couldn't really be considered a good person.

"Madam, it's time for dinner," a maid knocked on the door.

"Bring it in," Xu Nian said.

The Liu family wouldn't allow the original owner to dine in the main hall, as they felt it was unlucky for a widow like her to eat with them.

Of course, this is what Madam Liu said to the original owner: "Now that you have married into the Liu family and become my Yan'er's wife, you naturally have to remain faithful to him. From now on, unless I summon you, you must stay in your room and not go anywhere. Recite scriptures and pray for Yan'er, understand?"

The original owner had no choice but to agree; without a husband, she was merely a nominal mistress in the Marquis's mansion.

...

The maid put down the food and left. It was a simple meal of three dishes and a soup. Xu Nian ate a few bites but didn't eat any. Instead, she picked some out and walked to the asparagus fern, burying the food in the soil where the asparagus fern was planted.

After a while, she asked the maid to take the food away. Feeling that it was about time, she washed up and lay down on the canopy bed, pretending to be asleep.

With a creak, the door was opened, and the maid who came in, seeing that Xu Nian was asleep, gestured to the person outside.

Two burly old women came in and carried Xu Nian out with blankets.

She felt herself being carried out of the Marquis's mansion and onto a carriage. The carriage drove for quite a while and circled around several times before finally stopping.

The old woman said something to someone, and then someone carried Xu Nian away.

Another bumpy ride ensued, and Xu Nian kept her eyes closed the entire time to avoid giving herself away, not daring to even move her eyelashes.

He didn't know how long the person carrying her wandered around before he knocked on a door and entered a house.

Then, Xu Nian was placed on soft bedding, and the person carrying her left.

"Yuanbao, check if there's anyone else in the house." Xu Nian, who was weak and helpless, quickly asked Yuanbao for help.

"Host, there's no one in the room. What are you going to do next?" Yuanbao asked, looking at his host's screen in the system space.

"Yuanbao, do you think if I kill this important person, the Liu family will be wiped out?" Xu Nian got out of bed and took out the dagger that he had been hiding in his heart.

"Host, don't be impulsive. If you miss and that person doesn't die, you'll be living a life worse than death," Yuanbao said, wiping his sweat.
