It seems we can't let this vixen get away with it any longer; it'll probably be long before a fourth victim appears.
Just as Du Yuan was thinking this, a scholar-like man walked in as if he had lost his soul. "Greetings, Master Du Yuan."
"What is this, benefactor?" Du Yuan asked, turning the Buddhist beads in his hand with a frown.
"The falling flowers are willing, but the flowing water is heartless. King Xiang has a dream, but the goddess is indifferent." The scholar said with a bitter smile.
After a wry smile, the scholar continued, "Master Duyuan, I wish to become a monk. Please accept me as your disciple."
It is obvious that the scholar was heartbroken, and deeply so.
“Amitabha, benefactor, your worldly ties are not yet severed, please return!” Du Yuan politely declined.
"My worldly ties are not yet severed? Master Duyuan, she doesn't like me, what should I do?" The scholar smiled bitterly.
"Do not be angry, do not be foolish, do not be greedy, do not dwell on things, and you will naturally be free from troubles." Du Yuan calmly looked at the people in the Buddhist hall, and these words were not just for the scholar.
"Please return, everyone. This humble monk has important matters to attend to." The crowd tried to persuade Du Yuan to stay, but he was already three zhang away in a single step. In just a few breaths, Du Yuan had already gone far away.
With Duyuan absent, the group was led out of the Buddhist hall by the young novice monk and stood at the entrance of Guide Temple. Everyone tacitly agreed not to leave, but instead found a place to stay nearby.
...
Xu Nian was really annoyed at this moment. She never expected that several people she met in one day would inexplicably pester her.
They all cried and begged to marry her.
Beauty can be alluring, but surely it shouldn't lead to irrationality?
"Girl, wait for me."
The man's calls from behind made Xu Nian feel pain. She was frightened and threatened, but there were still some fearless people chasing after her.
She ran away, and they chased after her.
Oh, I see. I'm sorry, she can't accept it and doesn't want to. Goodbye.
Xu Nian transformed into a fox and followed Yuanbao into the bushes, where they crouched down.
Seeing the man searching for her walk further and further away, wagging his fiery red tail, Xu Nian jumped around with immense joy.
I finally got rid of those nonsensical men.
Just as she was happily thinking about it, suddenly, someone grabbed the back of Xu Nian's neck and lifted her up.
What comes into view is a large bald head, with narrow eyes, a high nose bridge, and thin, well-shaped lips. He has fair skin and a calm and gentle demeanor.
This person is quite good-looking.
The thought flashed through her mind, and Xu Nian struggled to get up.
"Squeak squeak squeak!" Put me down. Is it polite of you to grab someone by the back of the neck?
After struggling for a while, I realized that I had become a fox, and all the sounds I made were squeaking.
"Let me go!" Xu Nian shouted angrily as she transformed into human form.
Du Yuan was not shocked when he saw the fox in his hand transform into a woman.
But looking at her, he felt a sudden tightness in his throat.
Instantly, Du Yuan's expression became inscrutable. He looked at Xu Nian with unfathomable eyes.
"Monk, where did you come from?" Xu Nian muttered.
"Host, this is the male lead, that Buddhist disciple!" Yuanbao quickly reminded the carefree Xu Nian.
"The male lead has already appeared? My storyline is over so quickly?" Xu Nian thought to herself that she hadn't done anything all day except be bothered by others!
Never mind, she should be captured by the male lead and locked under the Demon-Suppressing Tower, where she can just wait to die.
She surrendered without resistance, while the monk who was supposed to arrest her stood there motionless, watching her, and the atmosphere inexplicably froze.
Xu Nianmei's eyes darted around, a sudden unease rising in her heart. Without thinking, she instinctively turned and ran.
"Squeak!" Xu Nian was grabbed by the back of her neck by a large, bony hand, and automatically turned into a fox.
The fox-like woman was pulled into the man's arms, which were filled with the scent of sandalwood. Her struggles were amusing to the man.
He held her hand and said, "Don't move, be good, I won't hurt you."
"Squeak!" Don't touch my paws, don't stroke my fur, don't touch my tail.
Xu Nian's protests were all ineffective.
She was taken back to Guide Temple by Du Yuan, but instead of being sent to the Demon Suppression Tower, she was locked in Du Yuan's room.
Fearing that Xu Nian might sneak away, he even arranged Buddhist light in the meditation room.
As soon as Xu Nian gets close to the door or window, he is immediately bounced back by the Buddha's light.
Xu Nian would rather be injured than get hurt.
Why is the plot going wrong again?
Xu Nian buried her head in her tail, feeling extremely depressed.
"Little fox, time to eat." Du Yuan came in with steamed buns and porridge and placed them in front of Xu Nian.
Xu Nian is a fox now, and she eats meat. She has no interest in the porridge and steamed buns in front of her. She closes her eyes and doesn't want to pay attention to Du Yuan.
Du Yuan frowned and reached out to help Xu Nian return to human form. "Stop fooling around, let's eat."
"Who's arguing with you? I don't want to stay here. I don't want steamed buns or porridge. I want meat!" Xu Nian's eyes were wide open, filled with dissatisfaction.
Du Yuan turned the prayer beads and said calmly, "You cannot go out."
Du Yuan's words enraged Xu Nian. "If I can't go out, then what are you trying to do by locking me up here, Master?"
Du Yuan did not answer; Xu Nian could not fathom what he was thinking.
After a long while, Du Yuan said, "I'll have someone buy you a roast chicken tomorrow. You can eat this for today."
"I won't eat." Xu Nian transformed back into her fox form, lay down on the futon, and closed her eyes to rest.
Having no other choice, Du Yuan had to take the things away again.
She was left alone in the meditation room again, and Xu Nian was boredly swishing her big tail, trying to figure out where the problem was.
Could it be because Du Yuan did not accuse her of bewitching mortals, causing men to be driven to the brink of death, abandoning their wives and children, and committing an unforgivable sin?
No, if it were that simple, she should be in the Demon-Suppressing Tower right now, not in the meditation room.
