Chapter 67 The Harmful Woman in a Post-Apocalyptic Novel with Two Male Protagonists (7)

Xu Nian thought of the dozen or so women and seven or eight children in that house, and began to slaughter the zombies in the town.

She needs more zombies as research material; it would be great if she could develop a drug that could awaken superpowers without any risk.

As long as this drug exists, humanity has the hope of evolving into superhumans.

Watching Xu Nian kill zombies and do research every day, Yuan Bao couldn't understand why Xu Nian had to do it all herself.

"Host, why don't you go directly to the male lead? With the base they established, you can do whatever you want."

“Yuanbao, being proactive and being passive are different.” Xu Nian thought that if she had to get entangled with the male lead, she would take the initiative this time.

Xu Nian caught a few more zombies and was about to drag them all back when a little boy popped out from the corner. He grabbed a zombie's leg and said, "Sister, let me help you."

"How did you get out?" Xu Nian didn't stop the little boy, letting him drag the zombie's leg back with her.

"My sister has cleared out most of the zombies in the area. I came out with everyone to find food. We can't rely on my sister forever," the little boy said, looking down.

"You want to say more than just this, don't you?" Xu Nian said with a smile.

"I want to learn from my older sister and become as powerful as her so I can protect Mom and everyone else." The little boy looked up at Xu Nian with eyes full of admiration.

It's hard for most people to resist the pure gaze of a child. Xu Nian patted his head and said, "Good idea, then you'd better keep it up!"

"I will." The little boy breathed a sigh of relief; he would be able to stay by his sister's side from now on.

It wasn't that he was being unreasonable, but rather that he understood that shrinking back would only cause the opportunity to slip away.

Xu Nian didn't dislike the little boy. Even though she understood his little scheme, she didn't expose him but tacitly accepted it.

As the area cleared of zombies expanded, more and more survivors were discovered in the town. Some drove away, while others chose to join the little boy's large family.

"Sister, what do you need so many zombies for?" After getting to know Xu Nian better, the little boy became noticeably more talkative.

"Doing research." It's been almost ten days, and there's still no progress on Xu Nian's superpower potion.

She began to doubt whether she was researching in the wrong direction. Could it really be possible to develop superpowered drugs from zombies?

In fact, Xu Nian wanted to study herself more, but unfortunately her S-level mental power was given to her by the system, and the initial research made no progress.

"What is your sister researching?" the little boy asked curiously. What kind of research required killing zombies every day?

"The thing that will end all of this." Xu Nian looked into the distance, but all she could see were wandering zombies.

"Sister, what can I do to help you?" The little boy looked at the zombies, his eyes shining with hope.

If it were her older sister, she could do it.

Once the apocalypse ends, everyone can live as before.

"You just need to grow up well and witness all of this." Xu Nian smiled gently.

The little boy stared at Xu Nian, then nodded vigorously. "Sister, I will."

"Let's go back. That's enough for today." Xu Nian gave up on finding a breakthrough with the zombies and wanted to explore something else.

...

The zombies in the town have been mostly cleared out. Apart from the occasional zombie that wanders in from outside, there are basically no zombies to be seen.

The further back they walked, the more uneasy Xu Nian's expression became. Quiet, too quiet.

Her mental energy spread out, and she observed everything around her into her mind.

Upon seeing that familiar face, Xu Nian's expression turned cold. She told the little boy not to be afraid, that she would handle it.

The little boy followed closely behind Xu Nian without saying a word. The precocious boy understood that something must have happened that he couldn't handle.

When Yan Ze saw Xu Nian, he grinned, his gaze towards her filled with a sickly intensity. "Nian Nian, I've been looking for you for ages."

"Yan Ze, release them. This has nothing to do with them." Xu Nian's indifferent expression and words made Yan Ze shake his head.

He pointed to the group of people behind him who were bound by wood-type abilities and said, "Niannian, as long as you come back with me, I will release them."

Xu Nian's eyes turned completely cold. She walked up to Yan Ze and lashed him hard across the shoulder with a leg whip.

Yan Ze did not resist and knelt on the ground with the force.

Xu Nian grabbed the man's collar and slapped him across the face. The crisp sound of the slap was heard by everyone present, showing how hard the blow was.

Bound by wood-type superpowers and with their mouths sealed, the group stared blankly at the reversal unfolding before them.

"Yan Ze, are you out of your mind?"

"What did they do wrong? You're using them to threaten me."

"You think your feelings are so noble, that you're using so many lives to demonstrate your deep affection, and that I'll be moved?"

"What do you consider human life to be?"

"Yan Ze, I don't like trash, and I would never look at a piece of trash."

As Xu Nian spoke word by word, Yan Ze's face slowly paled. He panicked and grabbed Xu Nian's hands, trembling, saying, "Niannian, believe me, I didn't mean to hurt them."

“I didn’t mean to hurt them. If I had turned and left as soon as I saw you, were you going to use them to threaten me? You really wouldn’t hurt them?” Xu Nian’s cold gaze made Yan Ze’s straight back bend.

"Niannian, I know I was wrong. I'll let them go right now." Yan Ze withdrew his wood-type ability, and the vines binding the group of people began to contract, eventually burrowing into the ground.

"Niannian, I've let them go, don't be angry." Yan Ze looked at Xu Nian nervously, not at all feeling that his current posture was so humble.

"How did you find me?" Xu Nian released Yan Ze's clothes and took a few steps back, revealing an oversized pendant hanging on her leg.

Yan Ze hugged Xu Nian's leg and pleaded, "Niannian, don't go, I really know I was wrong."

The man's pleas did not soften Xu Nian's heart. "Yan Ze, let go, aren't you ashamed of yourself?"

He doesn't care about his image, but she does!

Didn't you see that the group of people next to them were just watching the two of them like bystanders now that there was no threat?

"Niannian, please come back with me, I really can't live without you." Yan Ze pleaded, his eyes filled with an increasingly obsessive and morbid stubbornness.

"Yan Ze, you're really quite ill. Don't you remember what you did? Why should I go back with you?" Xu Nian used her mental power to break free from Yan Ze's grip on her leg.

Under his astonished gaze, she squatted down and looked him straight in the eye, saying coldly, "Yan Ze, don't think that just because you keep saying you like me, I'll forgive you."

"Niannian, I just didn't know how to love you back then. Can you teach me? Can you teach me how to love you?" Yan Ze was truly panicked. If Xu Nian wanted to leave now, he wouldn't be able to stop her at all.

"Yan Ze, let me go, and let yourself go too!" Xu Nian stood up and used her mental power to suppress Yan Ze.

"Niannian, don't go, don't go." Tears began to flow from Yan Ze's eyes as he pleaded with Xu Nian, unable to move.

Xu Nian simply didn't want to talk to him; she couldn't communicate with someone so obsessed with love.

Seeing that Xu Nian was still trying to leave, Yan Ze's eyes widened in fury. "Li Chen, make your move."
