“Miss, since you picked up the item, you can’t just throw it away like that.” An old man in a black cloak appeared behind the tree, staring intently at Feng Guang with an unfriendly expression.
Feng Guang was startled. "Who are you?"
"Hmph, I told Ning Yi to hide in the shadows and wait for the destined person to pick up the jade pendant, but I didn't expect that this kid would let you go."
The old man's words sounded furious, but Feng Guang sensitively picked up on two words and subconsciously asked, "Ning Yi? You know Ning Yi?"
“How could I not recognize him as my grandson?” The old man snorted again and waved his hand. “We’ve found the old ancestor’s bride. Bring this little girl back to me.”
Before Feng Guang could react, two men dressed in black cloaks jumped out and put a black bag over her head. Her vision went black, and she immediately felt herself being carried away. Then, her consciousness went dark.
She didn't know how much time had passed when Feng Guang woke up again. When she opened her eyes, she saw an antique-style room. She immediately sat up in bed and looked down to see the jade pendant still beside her. She was on the verge of tears. Not only that, she found that she had been changed into a phoenix coronet and embroidered robe, which was an ancient wedding dress.
Oh no, do these people want her to be buried with that dead man?
The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Feng Guang looked up at the skylight. The doors and windows were sealed off, and the only way for her to escape was through the skylight, but she was too tall to reach it.
But soon, she had a rare moment of wisdom. Whenever she felt scared, snowflakes would fall around her. When her fear deepened, it would be a heavy, fluffy snowfall. She would try to imagine the terrible things that were about to happen. The snow around her fell heavier and heavier, piling up all the snow. After she had almost exhausted all her strength, she actually managed to build a "snow ladder" leading to the skylight.
Feng Guang rolled up her sleeves and began to climb up using both her hands and feet. When she had climbed halfway up, the door opened.
The man, who had only seen the scenery twice before, walked in and saw a young girl in a red wedding dress lying on the snow-capped mountain in a very unseemly posture. This scene made him pause for a moment.
Feng Guang was caught off guard by the arrival of someone. She was stunned and her foot slipped, causing her to fall from mid-air. Just when she thought she was going to be seriously injured, she was caught safely.
"I have to say... Miss, you are truly amazing." He said this with a smile, without any hint of sarcasm.
Realizing she was being held in his arms, her face flushed. "Wasn't I trying to run away?"
“There is a barrier set up by my grandfather here, which even I cannot break. What you are doing is futile.”
Her face paled again. "Then...do I really have to be buried with a dead person?"
"A ghost marriage is just to establish your marital relationship with him, not to make you be buried with him. However..." His eyes revealed helplessness, "From now on, you will not be able to marry anyone else."
"So... you mean I have to be a widow for a dead person I've never even met?"
He said rather awkwardly, "That person was actually an ancestor of our Ning family from hundreds of years ago."
She was even more heartbroken. "So I'm going to be a widow for a man who's been dead for hundreds of years!"
