The matter Yao Feng wanted to discuss with Duan Mu was nothing more than the news that Duan Mu had been imprisoned. And this matter was probably quite difficult to handle, since Duan Mu was, after all, their agency's biggest star. It was likely that the company's higher-ups would want to talk to him.
Feng Guang hugged her knees and sighed, unable to even watch TV. She counted down the time, waiting for Duan Mu to come back. Time passed quickly while she was lost in thought. Around 5 o'clock, the doorbell rang. She ran to open the door, only to find a delivery guy there. It was Duan Mu who had ordered the food.
She had no appetite, and when the clock on the wall struck seven, she finally couldn't resist calling Duan Mu again. When the call was connected, Yao Feng's voice came through, "Miss Xia, Duan Mu has been taken away by our boss to discuss some matters. He can't answer the phone right now. Please call again later."
"Okay..." She hung up the phone and scratched her hair in frustration.
A considerate and understanding woman shouldn't disturb a man when he's talking, but she's unusually anxious right now. She tells herself not to look at the time, but time doesn't stop just because she wants it to.
She didn't know how much time had passed when her phone finally rang. Upon seeing Duan Mu's name, Feng Guang excitedly reached out her hand, but just as she was about to tap the word "connect" on the screen, the sound of a clock echoed in the quiet room, and she suddenly stopped.
The phone fell onto the sofa. The bewildered woman stood up and looked around. After regaining her senses, the unfamiliar environment frightened her. Then, upon realizing she was wearing clothes that didn't belong to her, she covered her mouth and widened her eyes in fear. After only a second of hesitation, she stumbled and ran out of the house.
The wind was cold in the dead of night. Feng Guang hugged her arms. The surrounding environment was completely unfamiliar to her. She walked barefoot on the ground, not knowing who to look for or who she should be. Her mind was a blank.
"Miss Xia?"
She paused, looked up, and saw the man standing in front of her.
Wu Sen frowned, "Why are you walking down the street dressed like this, and without even shoes on..."
Wu Sen was the local police officer in charge of the area. He hadn't expected to run into Feng Guang while on patrol. Just as he was wondering what was going on, he heard Feng Guang ask, "Are you my...boyfriend?"
Wu Sen was stunned for a moment. Then he remembered something and quickly took out his phone to check the time. It was 12:10.
Receiving no answer, she asked again, "Are you my boyfriend?"
Wu Sen moved his lips, but suddenly realized he couldn't answer the question. He gritted his teeth, and simply took Feng Guang's hand and made her sit on a bench under a tree by the roadside. He pointed to a shopping mall across the street that was still open and said, "I'll go buy you clothes and shoes first. You sit here and don't move."
"Okay, I'll wait for you to come back." She smiled sweetly.
Wu Sen was startled again. His erratic heartbeat reminded him that something was wrong. He took off his hat, scratched his hair in frustration, and ran across the road.
As soon as he stepped into the mall, Wu Sen's phone rang unexpectedly—a cheerful children's song. Before he could even react to when he had changed his ringtone, his eyes suddenly went unfocused. He answered the phone and said emotionlessly, "Hello."
"Officer Wu, good evening." Duan Mu's voice was calm and elegant. He carried a bag and walked along the road with a faint smile on his lips as he slowly approached the girl sitting under the tree.
