Chapter 1781 Conquering the Dark Wizard

The exact history of the Holy See is unknown, but even though it is unknown, it is clear that this history is certainly not short.

The Holy See has had thirteen popes... If every pope is the same person, then what kind of monster is Herman?

For the first time, Arnold felt such a strong sense of uncertainty. He was even more uncertain than when he was a teenager, when facing a life-or-death situation, because the man he was facing could no longer be called a "human being."

Even though Arno didn't understand magic or anything like that, he could tell that the child's body lying in the coffin, and the word "shell" that Herman mentioned... these were not good things.

"You are using unorthodox methods to prolong your life, which is against the laws of nature. I dare say that this does not conform to the Holy See's ideal of salvation. If what you say is true, that you founded the Holy See, then the Holy See should represent your ideals. Why..."

"The so-called salvation..." Hermann seemed to chuckle lightly, "is truly a joke."

Arno paused, "What do you mean?"

“Initially, the Holy See wasn’t called the Holy See,” Herman said. “This place used to be called the Holy Virtue Hospital.”

This statement was clearly beyond Arno's comprehension, and he was speechless for a moment.

Long ago, before the Holy See existed, this place was a hospital, and Herman was a doctor there. In those days, the lines between black and white were not so clear, and people who believed in the light and those who believed in the dark could get along well. Herman, the doctor at Holy Virtue Hospital, was known for his dedication and responsibility.

Until one day, the two patriarchs of the Black and Light clans were both hospitalized due to old age, and Herman was in charge of treating them.

While it's called diagnosis and treatment, it's really just using some medications to slow down their death due to old age.

Herman encountered the names of both darkness and light in the hospital room, but he only felt irony. No matter how powerful the faith was, it could not bring an old, dying man back to his youthful vigor.

Back then, whenever Hermann brushed past colleagues who greeted him or rejected female colleagues who pursued him, he couldn't help but think that perhaps soon, these people's faces would also be covered with wrinkles.

From that point on, Hermann began an experiment.

This experiment was not because Hermann wanted to achieve immortality, but because no one has ever achieved immortality before. And whatever it is, as long as it involves the word "impossible," it has endless appeal to Hermann.

Herman had no shortage of experimenters; those who were terminally ill were willing to do anything to survive, and Herman's experiments were like their only straw to grasp.

Herman's experiment was a success, and he was called "God" by those people, the God of Light. Unbeknownst to them, the Holy Hospital had become the Holy See, and he had become the Pope of the See. Even though he felt it was a very foolish act, he had no reason to refuse. The more believers he had, the more test subjects he had.

This is how the Holy See came to be.
