Feng Guang slept until dusk. She sat up in bed, rubbed her eyes, and lazily stretched before turning her gaze to the Cold Abyss Sword on the table.
She got out of bed, walked to the table, sat down, poured herself a cup of tea, and lazily asked, "Fang Yue, Fang Yue, are you there?"
"I am here."
She was taken aback by his quick response and asked, somewhat stunned, "What time is it where you are?"
"It is midnight."
"Oh? It's so late. How much time has passed where you are while I've been asleep?"
Fang Yue replied again, "Less than half a month."
"Why aren't you asleep yet, it's so late?"
"I……"
A commotion came from his end: "The traitor is there! Kill him!"
"Fang Yue?"
"Sorry, Feng Guang, please allow me to explain later." As soon as Fang Yue finished speaking, the sounds of fighting could be heard.
Feng Guang could only sit there anxiously, but she still had confidence in Fang Yue's strength. At the very least, if it wasn't a sneak attack, few people could hurt him.
Fang Yue seemed to want no further entanglement. Judging from the sounds of clashing swords, he simply retreated to a quiet place after repelling the attackers.
Feng Guang was afraid of distracting him, so she didn't dare to speak at first. Now that things had quieted down, she hurriedly asked, "Fang Yue, are you hurt?"
"No, I'm fine." His breathing was even, not at all like someone who had just been in a fight. It seemed those people were indeed no match for him.
Feng Guang felt a little relieved, but before she could ask what had happened, she heard other people's voices coming from Fang Yue's side.
It was the sound of an old man's sigh.
Fang Yue asked, "Master?"
Was he his master? Feng Guang remained silent.
"Come back with me and face the consequences."
"Master, do you also believe that I killed Elder Huanjian?"
"The evidence is conclusive, and even I, your teacher, cannot show favoritism towards you."
“Master…” he said in a deep voice, “Please forgive me for not being able to go back. I need to find out the truth about Elder Huanjian’s murder.”
The old man said, "Do you know that news of Huan Jian's death has already spread? Many people say that you are a traitor to your master and ancestors, a wolf in sheep's clothing, and want to execute you on the spot? Come back with me. In the Xuanmen, I can still save your life."
"Master, your disciple is not afraid of death."
Upon hearing this, Feng Guang nearly smashed the table.
The old man seemed helpless. “I know that no one can change your decision. However, to the outside world, you have already been expelled from the sect. So, return the Cold Abyss Sword to me.”
"The Cold Abyss Sword... Master, please forgive me for not being able to give it to you."
Why?
He remained silent.
“You were once the chief disciple of the Xuanmen sect, so you should know what the Hanyuan Sword represents in the Xuanmen sect. I absolutely cannot let you take this sword away.”
“Master… this disciple has a reason why I must leave the Cold Abyss Sword behind.”
What is the reason?
“Disciple…” he hesitated.
Footsteps sounded, and it seemed that the old man was approaching Fang Yue. "You are the disciple I value most. Your other junior brothers have many complaints about you because of this, but you have always been the one I trust the most."
"Disciple has disappointed Master."
"Sigh..." the old man said softly, "You became my disciple at the age of seven, reached the Nascent Soul stage at seventeen, and are about to reach the Tribulation Transcending stage at twenty-four. Do you know how many people spend their entire lives and still cannot reach your level? And you will become someone who surpasses your master."
"What this disciple has gained is all thanks to Master's teachings."
“No…” the old man sighed, “No, you are more capable than your teacher, there is nothing more I can teach you.”
