The King and Queen welcomed Herman's arrival, and of course, they didn't forget to welcome Lilith, who was following behind Herman.
Lilith is now a saintess of the Holy See. Although she comes from a poor background, her status as a saintess has risen significantly, and even the most arrogant nobles have to put on a very polite demeanor.
Compared to her previous stage frights in big settings, Lilith was much more poised this time. Perhaps she had become accustomed to such grand occasions, even though she was still somewhat unfamiliar with the rules and etiquette.
Hermann, as usual, offered a blessing for the scenery. After all the ceremonies were over, the ball resumed. The cello played a melodious and pleasant tune, and the men and women on the dance floor all wore smiles. It was an era of peace and prosperity.
Richard leaned in again. "Wendy, won't you dance with me?"
“Prince Richard.” Herman was still standing next to Feng Guang; he merely nodded slightly as a form of greeting.
In Richard's mind, Herman was nothing more than a pedantic and rigid person. In other words, Richard never regarded Herman as a competitor. After all, Herman was a clergyman, and he could not possibly be his competitor.
Richard smiled politely. "Bishop Herman, is there something you need?"
"That Miss Ariel over there seems to be looking for you." Herman glanced at the girl who dared not come out from the corner not far away, his expression unreadable.
Richard's expression turned somewhat unnatural upon hearing this. "Bishop Herman, that's a fraud."
"A liar?" Feng Guang asked in confusion.
“That’s right,” Richard said. “I don’t know where she heard Princess Wendy’s joke from, but she claims to be the one who saved me and says her name is Ariel. But when I ask her anything else, she won’t say anything.”
Upon hearing this, Feng Guang's eyebrows twitched. She said, "I think... she doesn't seem to lie, and I can testify that she was the one who brought you to the shore that day."
“Princess Wendy, I’ve said it before, you don’t need to lie about my pursuit of you.” Richard said, sounding quite distressed, but his eyes seemed to hold everything.
Seeing the magnificent scenery made me want to punch him.
“Prince Richard,” Herman’s eyes darkened, “I have a way to prove whether Ariel was the one who saved you. Would you be willing to try, Prince Richard?”
“Your Highness has no reason to refuse.” Feng Guang winked sweetly at Richard. “Prince Richard, don’t you agree?”
Richard, bewitched by her beauty, nodded as a matter of course.
“Prince Richard, please come with me.” Herman had just turned around when he turned back and said, “Princess Wendy doesn’t need to come along.”
Fengguang's steps, which had just begun, came to a halt.
Herman led Richard outside, and also called Ariel, who had been hiding in the corner, and the three of them went out together.
Feng Guang didn't understand what Herman was trying to do, but she trusted that Herman was a sensible person, so she could wait for Herman to return in the hall without worry.
"Your Highness..." Lilith walked over with a wine glass in her hand, but before she got close to Fengguang, she tripped on her own skirt and fell to the ground. The broken glass happened to cut her finger.
