Xia Chao and Wang Ci left, their departing figures not showing any sign of ease.
Feng Guang sat back on the bed. She had no appetite for the food sent by the Senate, even though she was dizzy from hunger. But for the sake of the child in her womb, she endured the nausea and drank the blood sent by the Senate.
Since they said they would give her three days, they wouldn't tamper with her food during those three days. Although the Senate liked to break up couples, they weren't that despicable.
She was completely cornered and didn't know what to do. The only thing that made her feel fortunate was that Ming An hadn't exposed it. She prayed that Ming An could pretend he didn't know about it and that he would never come to the Council of Elders.
But Fengguang's prayer failed.
Today, a guest has arrived in the main hall of the Senate, and he is an uninvited guest at that.
The elders, who were in the middle of a meeting, fell silent. They looked at the man who swaggered in from outside and exchanged bewildered glances.
Because without their permission, it would be impossible for anyone to break in, especially since the one who broke in was an unregistered vampire hunter.
The calmest of them all was Mo Feng. He stood up, a gesture of courtesy, and then asked the question everyone wanted to ask, "Mr. Ming An, what brings you here?"
"Ah, sorry." Ming An was still as listless and carefree as ever. He scratched his hair and said apologetically, "I'm really sorry for disturbing your meeting."
He casually sat down opposite Mo Feng, showing that his apology was nothing more than a polite formality.
Some elders gradually voiced their dissatisfaction. They did not deny Ming'an's contributions to the Council of Elders and the Hunter Association over the years, but this man was ultimately one of the vampire hunters. His lawless behavior on the Council of Elders' territory was simply too arrogant.
The only one who could remain calm was probably Mo Feng. He sat back down in his chair, and after sensing the man's obvious hostility, he still managed to ask in a friendly tone, "Mr. Ming'an, what important matter brings you to our Senate?"
“Important business? No, no, no…” Ming An chuckled lightly, “I’m just here to pick up my wife and take her home.”
Everyone was momentarily confused.
Ming shrugged with annoyance, "You single old men don't understand. Once you get used to sleeping with your wife every day, you can't stand being alone in an empty room anymore."
These words made the faces of those single old men turn pale and then red.
Mo Feng, as expected of Mo Feng, had already grasped the meaning behind Ming An's words. However, even he could not easily accept this sudden information. He said, "Mr. Ming An, please stop joking. Your wife is not here."
"Is the Dean trying to say I've made a mistake?" Ming An narrowed his eyes and smiled like a fox, but the atmosphere in the hall also dropped to freezing point with his laughter.
Mo Feng smiled, his face showing wrinkles that spoke volumes about his age. "Mr. Ming'an, why don't you just make things clear? Since you're here today, you must have already made preparations."
"Hey, don't overthink it." Ming An raised his eyebrows and smiled, "I'm the only one who came today."
He didn't bring any companions, because he could handle anything on his own.
