A moment of silence spread.
Unable to endure the suffocating atmosphere any longer, Yi Ren lowered her head and said, "After the Crown Princess went to see His Majesty, she did not return for a long time. His Highness the Crown Prince was very worried, so he came out to look for her."
"I accidentally got lost and wandered far away." Feng Guang's tone was nonchalant, revealing no other emotions.
But Yi Ren heard it differently. She felt that Feng Guang was suppressing his anger and pretending to be normal, so she was even more uneasy. "Crown Princess, are we going back to the East Palace now?"
Feng Guang didn't rush to answer. She looked at Baili Mo and said, "Your Highness, if you have anything to do... I can go back by myself first."
This translates to: Don't worry, I won't interfere with your dating life.
But when these words reached Yiren's ears, she thought the Crown Princess was just being stubborn with the Crown Prince. As a mere palace maid, she couldn't bear such a situation, so she lowered her head even further and said humbly, "Your Highness only came out to find the Crown Princess. Now that you've found her, I suppose there's nothing else of importance..."
"Really?" Before Yiren could finish speaking, Feng Guang looked at Baili Mo and asked, "You really... don't have anything else to take care of?"
She asked with great care. Indeed, she really didn't mind him developing feelings for this palace maid outside. After all, their marriage was a political one, and there was no emotional foundation between them. So it was normal for him to fall for other women.
Feng Guang had never thought of herself as so understanding; she was practically glowing with the halo of a saint.
She was so generous in saying she didn't mind, but Baili Mo shook his head and refused her kind offer.
Whether they wanted to date or not was none of her business. Since they didn't want to go out anymore, then they shouldn't. Feng Guang nodded, "Let's go back then."
So, Feng Guang and Baili Mo walked ahead, while Yi Ren walked behind nervously, carrying the palace lantern. Feng Guang could clearly see her nervousness and couldn't understand why Yi Ren was so nervous.
Feng Guang raised her hand, wanting to take out the snacks she had hidden in her bosom and take a few bites, only to remember that the dog had eaten all her snacks. She then said angrily to Baili Mo, "Tomorrow, have the kitchen staff make me a few more servings of osmanthus cakes until I'm full."
Baili Mo shook his head.
She was angry. "Why won't you?"
Baili Mo turned around and looked at Yi Ren.
The woman, perfectly in sync, said, "The Crown Princess's injuries have just healed, and she shouldn't eat too many sweets in one day anyway; too much of anything is bad..."
"Alright, alright, I got it." Feng Guang waved his hand, then pressed his chest and muttered plaintively, "Just one glance and they know what the other is thinking. I feel like I've been force-fed a mouthful of dog food..."
Baili Mo didn't understand what it meant to say that Feng Guang was being fed dog food, but he had heard her previous sentence in its entirety. Suddenly, he took her hand.
Feng Guang froze, her subconscious reaction being to pull her hand away, taking three steps away from him. Only after she had done all this did she realize that her reaction seemed too obvious. Sure enough, when she looked up, she saw that Yi Ren's face was stiff, while Bai Li Mo's gentle eyes flashed with a hurt light, making one feel a sense of guilt.
