Yan Gui was slightly taken aback, then quickly supported her, placing his hand on the back of her head and asking anxiously, "Are you alright?"
He never expected Feng Guang to come and shield him; in fact, even without Feng Guang, he could have avoided it.
"I..." Feng Guang squinted, feeling dizzy and lightheaded. She shook her head slightly. "I'm fine..."
However, Yan Gui noticed that his hand, which was on her head, felt warm liquid. He slowly raised his trembling hand, and the blood on his hand stung his eyes.
Feng Guang tried hard to wake up, but failed. Her body went limp and she leaned against him, completely exhausted.
"I'll take you to the hospital... You'll be alright..." Yan Gui picked up the person who was in a semi-conscious state and quickly walked to the black car. Whether it was Brother Skull's men or the group of bodyguards, they were already in a bloodthirsty fight, so no one stopped them.
The car door opened from the inside, revealing a man intently staring at his phone screen. He seemed oblivious to Yan Gui's anxious arrival, carrying the injured Feng Guang. Or perhaps it was more accurate to say he simply didn't care.
Yan Gui first put Feng Guang into the car, and then said, "Feng Guang is injured and needs to go to the hospital immediately."
He wasn't saying this to the man playing on his phone, but to the driver sitting in the front.
The driver glanced at the man in black sitting in the back, then looked at Yan Gui and nodded, "Okay."
Just as Yan Gui was about to get into the car and carry Feng Guang, his phone rang. The ringtone was different from the other calls he had received, meaning it was a number he had set to receive special attention. Looking at the unconscious Feng Guang, he hesitated before finally taking out his phone. The caller ID showed the name of someone he had been waiting for. He answered the phone, "Is something wrong?"
He didn't know what the person on the other end said, but his expression suddenly changed. After a long while, he said, "I'll be there soon."
After hanging up the phone, Yan Gui, who had taken a step into the car, stepped back out. But instead of leaving immediately, he bent down to look at Feng Guang's face, his eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions that others couldn't understand. Yet, he still had to make a choice. He looked up at the man in the car who had remained silent the entire time and said, "For the sake of our childhood friendship, could you please take care of her for me for now?"
The silent man remained silent; his only interest seemed to lie with his cell phone.
Knowing his temperament well, Yan Gui understood that he had agreed. Yan Gui reached out and stroked Feng Guang's cheek, then straightened up, left a "thank you" and turned to leave.
Soon, the car headed towards the hospital.
As the car turned, Feng Guang, who was leaning back in her seat, swayed and unfortunately fell onto the man's lap.
The man playing on his phone paused slightly. He had never liked interacting with people, not even Yan Gui, who had grown up with him since childhood.
When he reached out to help her fall to the other side, she let out a soft groan, and his hand paused, as if he had been startled.
He had a strange feeling that if he touched her like that, she would shatter like glass.
Then, he saw a fair hand gently grasp the hem of his clothes. The unconscious woman opened her eyes a crack, her vision misty and blurry. She murmured unconsciously, "Yan Gui... I'm so cold..."
Her face was pale, and the blood flowing from the wound on her head slightly dampened her hair. She looked like... like what?
In the forest, an injured cub pleads for the hunter's mercy.
She didn't wake up for long before closing her eyes again and falling back asleep.
After a moment, the man silently put down his phone. He first helped the person who was lying on his lap up, then picked her up and let her sit on his lap. Her face was pressed against his chest, and her hands, which were still gripping the hem of his clothes, had not let go.
The man took out a white handkerchief and gently pressed it against her bleeding wound. She whimpered softly from the pain.
He paused slightly, then gently patted her back with his other hand. "Don't be afraid...it will be alright soon."
Upon hearing the sound, the driver's hand trembled, and he almost drove the car into the river.
