He had just lain down when someone snuggled into his arms and he hugged her.
Feng Guang said happily, "I have to push you a bit before you'll know how to take the initiative."
He innocently replied, "I'm thinking about your reputation."
"Anyway, I'm not one of your people, so I don't care about my reputation. I'll just let things take their course." She said it lightly and casually.
The sundial suddenly fell silent, becoming extremely quiet.
Feng Guang looked up at him, "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Her breath sprayed onto his neck, and Sundial's expression was momentarily complicated. After a while, he said, "Don't move."
Seeing the faint black lines appearing on his neck, lines that looked exactly like those that appeared when Mu Gui was in heat, she understood something, but said uncertainly, "Sundial... are you in heat?"
The sundial's face was stiff, and it remained silent.
She playfully poked his cheek with her finger, "Sundial, it seems like you're really in heat."
She used to find the words "heat" particularly grating, but now that he says them to her, she finds them quite amusing.
The sundial caught her fidgeting hand and, trying his best to suppress his desire, said, "It's getting late, let's get some rest."
“Sundial…” Feng Guang looked at him seriously, “Tell me honestly, did you just think that you and I could simply lie in the same bed and chat?”
The sundial frowned in confusion. "Is there anything else we need to do?"
"You!" She gritted her teeth and slapped him on the forehead. "You blockhead!"
After saying that, she stepped out of his embrace, turned around, and faced away from him again.
The sundial felt innocent and confused. He had never understood the saying that a woman's heart was like a needle at the bottom of the sea, but now he finally understood. However, he still didn't know how to retrieve that needle.
“Fengguang…” Sundial had just reached out a hand to hug her when she slapped it away. He said weakly, “If you’re unhappy about something, just tell me. I’ll apologize, okay?”
His pitiful attitude in admitting his mistake softened Feng Guang's heart. She turned to look at him and saw his bewildered expression. Her heart softened even more. She sighed deeply and returned to his arms, gently saying, "I'm not angry. Let's go to sleep."
He's always been such an unromantic person, and this isn't the first time she's found out, so what's there to complain about?
Although there were still many things the sundial didn't understand, he was happy to see that Fengguang was willing to get close to him.
The next morning, Feng Guang dragged Sundial out of bed. She was in a hurry for him to pick a good day, and it had to be the closest one. Sundial simply flipped through the almanac and immediately found an auspicious day half a month later. Feng Guang had no objections, so he went to see Shen Yue to report.
Fengguang was sitting in the courtyard waiting for the sundial to return. As she was counting the fallen leaves, a small white snake suddenly appeared, startling her. She picked up a stone from the ground to throw at it, but the snake spoke, "Bold human, how dare you offend me?"
Feng Guang paused, noticing the familiar way the man spoke, and asked, "Are you... that dragon?"
"Hmph!" The little white snake flicked its tongue. "If my appearance didn't cause a disturbance, I wouldn't appear in this form."
"Then...why did you appear in your current form?"
"I've only come to tell you that the high priest named Sundial is not to be trusted," the little white snake said. "If you believe him, you'd be better off believing the king of the Southern Rainbow Kingdom who wants to kill me."
