Qi Mu originally only intended to scare her with a light kiss, but once it came to this, things got out of his control. He first kissed Feng Guang's lips repeatedly, then extended his tongue, which darted into her mouth like a snake, easily prying open her teeth and finding her little tongue.
"Mmm..." Feng Guang's initial astonishment gradually turned into a helpless expression as she passively endured his passion. Her body quickly went limp, and if she hadn't been held tightly in his arms, she probably would have fallen to the ground.
Just as she was about to suffocate, Qi Mu released her, their lips parting with a strand of saliva. He heard her rapid breathing, slowly licked the corner of his lips, and a wicked smile appeared on his face. "Very sweet."
"Boom!" It was like a firework exploding in Feng Guang's mind. Her legs felt weak and unsteady, and she could only lean against his chest. These sensations had already made her mind go blank, but then Qi Mu picked her up by the waist and carried her to the bedside. He didn't need light and could avoid any obstacles with ease.
She called out weakly, "Wait..."
He stated bluntly, "We can't wait any longer."
"Qi Mu!" Feng Guang clutched his shirt tightly, panicking for the first time. "What...what do you want to do?"
He lowered his head with interest. "What, you're not calling me Prince anymore?"
"I...you..." she stammered, managing to utter only a half-complete sentence, "I'm very conservative, before marriage...you can't..."
"Can't what?" His voice was tinged with laughter, as if he truly didn't understand what she was trying to say.
Her face flushed red, and she could no longer contain herself. "Qi Mu!"
"Alright, Miss Xia, I'll stop teasing you." Qi Mu gently placed her on the bed. "You should rest now."
As soon as she touched the bed, she shrank to the corner. Although she couldn't see, she still watched warily in the direction from which he had spoken.
He walked back to the table and sat down, saying with a half-smile, "Although it feels immoral to mess with my brother's fiancée, Miss Xia, didn't you say you believed I wasn't that kind of despicable person?"
"..." She finally understood what it meant to lift a rock only to drop it on one's own foot.
Qi Mu was a petty man, and she was certainly not a magnanimous woman either. However, he was a prince and she was a commoner. As the saying goes, a commoner cannot fight with an official. Feng Guang chose to suffer this loss. Of course, she also believed that he would not tell anyone else about what happened tonight. The more she thought about it, the more confused she became, and slowly she fell asleep.
The next morning, people from the Xia family came to pick up Feng Guang. She didn't dare to look at Qi Mu's face when she said goodbye. She got into her own carriage and left in a hurry. Then, she didn't leave the mansion for a whole month, and it was even more impossible for her to see Qi Mu again.
By April, the grass was growing and the birds were singing, and the weather had warmed up a bit. Horse-drawn carriages passed leisurely along the forest paths.
"Miss, we've arrived at Linggan Temple." Yun'er first opened the carriage door, then helped Fengguang down from the carriage.
Linggan Temple is located on a mountaintop shrouded in mist. It is famous in Los Angeles for its efficacy and is the most popular temple in terms of incense offerings. At the request of the Xia Dynasty, Feng Guang specially came to offer incense and worship Buddha on the fifteenth of this month.
The temple was magnificent and the main hall was solemn. There were just as many people burning incense today as there were. Fengguang quickly got a good spot. She took three sticks of incense, but didn't bow. She simply lit them on the incense burner and had Yun'er put them in the incense burner.
“Young lady,” a woman beside her said, “you’re burning incense and praying to Buddha, but you’re not actually praying.”
Upon hearing this, Feng Guang looked at the woman, who appeared to be no more than forty years old. She possessed an elegant and graceful demeanor, still retaining her charm. It was clear that she must have been a beauty in her youth, a noble and beautiful woman.
“Madam, when you come to a temple, sincerity is key. Burning incense and praying to Buddha are just formalities. You only strive to be meticulous when you have something to ask for, just to put your mind at ease. As for not asking for anything…” She smiled shyly and said, “Of course, it’s just a matter of doing what you feel like.”
