As Feng Guang had assured her, she slept very peacefully for the first half of the night. However, in the second half, she seemed to feel cold and kept moving closer to a warm source.
Ji Mian had just pushed her away when, before long, she would unconsciously snuggle into his arms again. After several rounds of this, he gave up. If this continued, he wouldn't be able to sleep at all that night.
Her cheek pressed against his chest, her soft breathing sounding like a lullaby, and he slowly drifted off to sleep.
When Ji Mian woke up the next day, he didn't see Feng Guang by his bedside. For a moment, he had the illusion that what happened last night was just a dream. When he finished getting ready and left the room, he saw Feng Guang and Ji You having a meal in the hall.
Feng Guang was very well-mannered and always adhered to the rule of not speaking while eating or sleeping, so she simply said "Good morning, brother" to Ji Mian and then stopped talking.
But Ji You was different. She sat next to Feng Guang and asked curiously, "Why did you get up so late today, brother?"
“Because today is Saturday.” Ji Mian sat opposite them, elegantly picked up her orange juice and took a sip. “On a day off, you can relax a little.”
No... the fact that he woke up later than her made him feel inexplicably annoyed.
Unfortunately, the little girl who annoyed him was completely unaware of this. After finishing her meal, she picked up a napkin to wipe her mouth and then said cheerfully, "Brother, let me take you somewhere."
Where to?
She kept it a secret, saying mysteriously, "You'll find out when you've finished eating and come with me."
"Okay," Ji Mian replied softly, though he wasn't curious at all.
Passing through the lush courtyard, you arrive at another tall white Western-style building.
Feng Guang took the key from the neck of her teddy bear, opened the closed door, and Ji Mian stopped in her tracks after she went inside.
This very tall building was filled entirely with books.
Feng Guang said smugly, "This is a gift from my mother. She said she wanted me to become a...literary girl, but I don't like reading. My brother likes reading, so I'm giving this to him."
She walked to his side and placed the key in his palm.
"Brother?" Ji You tugged at Ji Mian, who was unresponsive.
After a long while, Ji Mian looked at the scenery before finally speaking, "Why give it to me?"
Feng Guang answered matter-of-factly, "Because my brother likes it."
"Is it true that... you'll give me anything I like that's also beautiful?"
"Yes!" She nodded without hesitation.
What if I said I wanted to take your life?
Ji Mian didn't ask the question aloud; he was just curious about how far she was capable of going.
So, when Ji Mian turned eighteen, he looked at the pink dolls, exquisite fairy tale books, and expired candies in his room... so many things, and he stuffed them all into the cabinet.
For the past five years, he had been constantly testing the limits of Feng Guang's words. She liked dolls, so he asked for her dolls. She also gave him the fairy tale book her father had given her, which she kept very carefully. The nanny didn't allow her to eat too much candy, but she only hesitated for a moment when she went out to buy it. Because he said he liked it, she gave it all to him, without even taking a single bite for herself. And there were so many more...
This only made Ji Mian more certain that Xia Fengguang was indeed a fool.
