After being in a coma for half a month, Tang Jiuge finally woke up. His room was now crowded with people, including Old Madam Tang, Old Madam Tang's personal maid Jinlu, Tang Zhaoyi, Shan Ya, Yi Wushang and Guan Yueyue.
When Xue Ran entered, everyone immediately made way for him. Feng Guang and Qing Yu followed behind. She glanced at Yi Wushang cautiously. Yi Wushang seemed to be very concerned about Tang Jiuge, who had just woken up, and didn't pay attention to her. But she was not at ease. How could someone as calculating as Nangong Li let her go?
Tang Jiuge was a handsome young man with delicate features. He looked no more than sixteen or seventeen years old, and the heroic spirit between his brows was somewhat like that of the old lady Tang. He sat on the bed and, upon seeing Xue Ran, angrily said, "Did you cure my poison?"
“Jiuge, you mustn’t be rude,” Old Madam Tang said sternly.
Tang Jiuge snorted in dissatisfaction and then fell silent.
Feng Guang touched her chin, wondering why she felt that Tang Jiuge didn't want to wake up.
Xue Ran didn't mind Tang Jiuge's rudeness. He sat by the bed and took his pulse, then said, "Young Master Tang's poison has been neutralized, but his body is still very weak and needs proper recuperation."
Grandma Tang was relieved. "Thank you so much, Dr. Xue."
"Jiuge, do you know how you were poisoned?" Tang Zhaoyi asked.
Tang Jiuge's expression was somewhat strange. He glanced at the silent Shan Ya and whispered, "I don't know..."
But even that brief glance was enough for Tang Zhaoyi to seize the opportunity. He said coldly to Shan Ya, "Jiuge's poisoning came suddenly. I'm sure it was someone close to him who did it. What do you think, Master Shan?"
"Please forgive me for not daring to make a definitive judgment on this matter."
Tang Zhaoyi stared at Shan Ya with his gloomy eyes. "You are Jiu Ge's master and the person in charge of guarding and patrolling the Tang Clan. In my opinion, the most likely person to do this is none other than you."
"Elder..."
"Shan Ya, do you dare to swear that if this is really your doing, you will be struck by lightning and die without a burial place?"
The cliff stands silent.
Jinlu, who was standing next to Old Madam Tang, suddenly stepped forward and said, "Elder, the young master has just woken up. Shouldn't we let him rest properly?"
"Hmph, Jiuge is the victim, and having him there will make things clearer!"
It seems that Tang Zhaoyi would only be satisfied after hearing Shan Ya make a solemn oath. Strangely, however, the old lady Tang did not react to this scene. She half-closed her eyes, as if she was about to fall asleep.
Shan Ya said, "Elder, I am willing to swear an oath..."
"Enough!" Tang Jiuge on the bed suddenly shouted. His face turned pale and then red, as if he was mustering the courage to say something he was ashamed to say. Finally, he said, "Uncle, don't doubt Master Shan anymore. Actually, I poisoned him myself this time."
This statement surprised everyone, and the only one who didn't find it strange was Shan Ya, whose expression remained calm.
Tang Zhaoyi said in disbelief, "Jiuge, your uncle knows you have a kind heart, but you don't need to..."
"Uncle, I really poisoned him myself!" Tang Jiuge raised her voice, afraid that others wouldn't believe her.
Jinlu glanced at Old Madam Tang and asked, "Why did you do this, young master?"
"I...I heard that Grandma wants me to marry the eldest daughter of Qianjin Pavilion. I don't want to marry someone I don't like, so I...I thought of using this method to escape." His voice grew softer and softer, and finally he mustered up his courage to say to Grandma Tang, "I'm sorry, Grandma..."
"Sigh." Old Mrs. Tang shook her head. "Jinlu, let's go back."
"Yes." Jinlu glanced at Shanya one last time before leaving, then helped Old Madam Tang out.
