"You're welcome. Serving the people is what I should do," Wu Sen said jokingly, and then walked away.
When he reached the door, a young policeman patted him on the shoulder and gave him a teasing look, "Not bad, young man."
"Don't make wild guesses." Wu Sen pushed him away and continued walking, though his ears were a little red.
Feng Guang sat alone in her chair, glancing casually at Wu Sen's desk. It was incredibly messy, but men generally don't care much about tidiness. She kept focusing her attention on other things, as if that would ease some of her tension.
More than an hour later, the person who was almost asleep finally saw the man walk in from the door.
Feng Guang instantly regained her senses. She didn't want to sleep anymore, so she quickly stood up, ran over, and hugged him tightly, giving him a bear hug.
Duan Mu held her tightly, and hearing her sobbing against his shoulder, he couldn't help but chuckle and say, "I'm out now, why are you still crying?"
“You have no idea how worried I’ve been about you these past few days…” Feng Guang nuzzled his neck. She hadn’t cried when she was with Duan Gao, but now she couldn’t help but cry out loud.
Duan Mu gently patted her back, feeling a tenderness in his heart. He whispered, "It was my fault. I shouldn't have made Feng Guang worry."
“Oh dear, I say…” Wu Sen, who was watching the show from the side, was a little embarrassed. “Miss Xia, Mr. Duan has come out. You should be happy.”
Feng Guang slightly raised her head and glanced at Wu Sen, only then realizing that she had become the object of everyone's attention in the office. She wiped her eyes embarrassedly, got off Duan Mu, but still leaned against him and choked up.
Duan Mu took her hand. The abrasions on her wrist stood out against her fair skin. On the way here, he had already heard from Wu Sen that she had deliberately acted as bait to bring Duan Gao to justice. He gently ran his fingertips along the edge of her wounds, his gaze darkening. "Feng Guang... I told you, I don't need you to be involved in this."
"I just... I just wanted to get you out of here..." She pursed her lips, looking at him with a pitiful expression.
"I know." Duan Mu sighed briefly, then pulled her into his arms again. "It's because I didn't handle these things well that you got hurt."
"It's none of your business. Duan Gao did all of this. You did nothing wrong."
He chuckled softly, raised his hand to gently stroke her cheek, and said nothing.
Wu Sen also received sympathetic glances from his colleagues. He wanted to say that they were boyfriend and girlfriend and it was none of his business! But since they were still there, he couldn't bring himself to yell at them. He could only say, "Mr. Duan has been released without charge. Fortunately, this matter was resolved quickly enough. The media has not yet reported that Mr. Duan was arrested, and his work will not be affected."
"Thank you for your help during this time, Officer Wu." Duan Mu smiled slightly. "Feng Guang must have caused you a lot of trouble because he was worried about me."
"No, no, Miss Xia is meticulous and bold, and she has been a great help to me."
Duan Mu smiled gently again, "It's getting late, I'll take Fengguang back first, and we'll come back another day to formally thank Officer Wu for his help."
"Please take care, you two."
Duan Mu nodded slightly, took Feng Guang's hand, and walked out of the office. He walked slowly because he had to comfort her from time to time. By the time they reached the police station, the cold wind had blown, and the tears on her face had almost dried.
