"Where did you go?" Xia Chao sat on the sofa, his presence commanding without anger.
Feng Guang wiped the mud off his face and walked in nonchalantly from the doorway. "I'm out having fun."
"You went to see An Tong again?"
"Mm." The nanny handed over a towel, and Feng Guang wiped the mud off his face, nodding casually.
Don't you think you're getting too close to him?
"Dad, you won't allow it?"
Xia Chao was annoyed by her nonchalance and warned, "You know I have a lot of connections in the police station. An Tong's mother's disappearance is definitely not as simple as it seems."
"Do you suspect he killed his mother?"
“Fengguang!” Xia Chao’s expression turned solemn. “This young man is not simple; he is very dangerous.”
"Okay, okay, I know. He's in danger. I'm tired. I'm going back to my room to rest." Feng Guang waved and ran upstairs.
Even when Xia Chao faced his most difficult cases in court, he was never as heartbroken as he is now when facing his daughter.
Since the day the four of them met, Fang Yaya's subtle hostility towards Feng Guang has eased somewhat, while Mu Tianze has stopped sleeping and keeps glancing coldly at Feng Guang every now and then, letting out a haughty snort to express how much he dislikes her. But he forgot that there is Fang Yaya between him and Feng Guang, which means that his series of childish behaviors must first get past Fang Yaya. Thus, he successfully made Fang Yaya misunderstand that he was picking a fight with her.
While Fang Yaya and Mu Tianze were arguing, what was Feng Guang doing? She was looking in the mirror, making sure she was in her best condition. The male and female leads were supposed to be a bickering couple, and she was actually pushing the plot forward. Normally, she wouldn't do something like this.
Feng Guang took out his phone and checked the time. Oh dear, he couldn't wait to run to An Tong's house as soon as school was over.
This afternoon, An Tong's home was not as quiet as usual. Guests came to visit, namely Officer Li Bi from that day and one of his henchmen.
In the courtyard, sunlight filtered through the leaves, dappling An Tong's body. "Officers, would you like something to drink?"
“No need to trouble yourself, we’ll just sit for a bit and then leave.” Li Bi glanced discreetly at the wheelchair he was sitting in. “Mr. An, what is the reason for your poor health?”
“From the age of three, my mother took me to many hospitals and saw many doctors, but... they always had different diagnoses about my condition.” Thinking of every hopeful and despairing day in the past, a familiar sadness appeared in his eyes, a sadness that could easily infect others.
Li Bi's eyes revealed a hint of regret, "Haven't you ever been abroad to see anything?"
“I’ve been there, but it didn’t work at all. Whether it’s in China or abroad, the only difference is the medication. I had already given up, but my mother wouldn’t give up.”
Li Bi remarked with feeling, "Ms. An must be someone who loves children very much."
"Um..." The lackey's face showed an unspeakable embarrassment, "Excuse me, could I use the restroom?"
Li Bi said disdainfully, "You brat!"
An Tong chuckled, "The toilet is inside the villa, the last one on the left on the first floor."
"Hey, Captain Li, I'll be right back!" The little follower ran off.
Li Bi said apologetically, "This kid just graduated this year and joined the police station. I'm in charge of mentoring him. He's a bit clumsy, so please don't mind."
"No, Officer Li is overthinking it."
"Haha." Li Bi chuckled, then scratched his head and asked, "By the way, I forgot to ask last time, does Mr. An take his mother's surname?"
“My parents divorced when I was very young. My father went abroad and I stayed with my mother, so my surname was changed.”
"I see. Has Mr. An's father returned to China recently?"
"No." An Tong shook her head. "In my memory, I have never seen my father. Officer Li, did you come here with news about my mother?"
