Feng Guang asked, "Then what should we do?"
"Just come with me," Shu Qiu said with a mysterious smile. Then he pulled Feng Guang and walked in another direction. He waved to a constable and said, "Go to the Xia residence and tell them that Miss Xia is accompanying me to investigate a case."
The constable replied, "Yes, sir."
And so, Fengguang was dragged by Shuqiu to the crime scene... which was Wuqi's home in Wutong Lane.
Feng Guang looked up at Shu Qiu, "So, this investigation... is it just the two of us?"
"Don't be afraid, I will protect you." Shu Qiu patted his chest, full of confidence.
He no longer looked at Fengguang with a weary sigh.
Shu Qiu took out the key, opened the door, and went inside. He exclaimed, "Hmm, has something been moved in this house?"
“It’s Wu Qi, isn’t it?” Feng Guang followed behind him. “Wu Qi is Liu’s son. He came back a few days ago to pick up some things.”
"It's that child... I heard he's working as a servant in your Xia household now. How is he doing?"
"Fortunately, I think he's a strong kid."
Shuqiu chuckled, "I remember he's older than you, right? You call him 'kid'... what kind of talk is that?"
"That's what I call you, do you have a problem with that?"
"I wouldn't dare to object." Shu Qiu shrugged and said, "This house has been thoroughly searched inside and out, but nothing was found at the time. I brought you here today, so maybe you can see something different."
Feng Guang didn't understand why he was so confident in himself, but since she was already there, she carefully walked around the room. In the end, she shrugged and said, "I didn't find anything."
Shuqiu didn't feel regretful at all. He said, "Then let's go find Wuqi directly."
"What do you want with him?"
“Go ask him what he knows.” Shuqiu stroked his chin. “When Liu Shi died, he was a child who was both panicked and heartbroken. Considering his state at the time, I didn’t dare to question him too much. Now that so much time has passed, his emotions should have stabilized. After thinking about it, I still want to go ask him.”
Shu Feng's words were never idle talk; if he said he would ask the people around Liu Shi, there must be a reason.
Feng Guang had no objection to what he said. She followed Shu Qiu out of the house, but stopped just before leaving. "Wait."
Shuqiu turned to look at her. "What's wrong?"
“Something’s not right.” She turned around and looked at the room in front of her, touching her chin, a strong sense of unease swirling in her heart.
Something's not right.
Feng Guang didn't answer, because she was still thinking. After a long while, she seemed to have thought of something, walked around outside again, and returned to her original spot. She asked uncertainly, "Don't you feel... that the space inside the house is smaller than it appears from the outside? I walked around outside, and the size of the house... doesn't seem to match the size I saw inside?"
“If your feeling is true, then that means… there’s a secret room in this house.” Shu Qiu put away his nonchalant attitude, thought seriously for a while, and then pulled Feng Guang back into the house. “Come on, let’s look for it and see if there really is a secret room.”
"Aren't you going to call the authorities to come and find us?"
"Call them over, it's getting too cold." Shu Qiu seemed quite dissatisfied with his subordinates.
