As night fell, Liuyin was in her room packing up the things that the group of educated youth had given her.
Since most of the people are strangers, no one would give them anything valuable.
Liu Yin casually opened a small wooden box, preparing to put these things inside one by one.
Most of the gifts given by the female educated youth were hair accessories, handkerchiefs, and the like. Liu Yin also found a box of face cream among them.
Although she wouldn't really need it, she didn't want to let others down.
Liuyin folded the handkerchief and gently placed it in the box.
Feng Wenyun, who was standing to the side, watched Liu Yin's actions and glanced at the exquisite little box on the table out of the corner of her eye.
He really wanted to know what was inside, but it was a gift from someone else to Liuyin, so he couldn't just open it.
As if sensing the man's gaze, Liuyin casually picked up the box.
"You really want to know what's inside?" Liu Yin asked with a smile, feeling that the tension on the man's face was really unnecessary.
"A little."
Feng Wenyun nodded earnestly, her eyes full of anticipation.
The exquisitely designed box was quite deceptive and stood out among the gifts from other people.
When Lu Shengtai arrived, Feng Wenyun noticed the box he was holding and the way he looked at Liu Yin.
He wanted to deny it, but he couldn't change the fact.
While pouring water for the group in the kitchen, the man watched Liu Yin and Lu Shengtai standing together from afar, and a sudden thought arose in his mind.
They did seem like a good match; one was tall and handsome, the other delicate and gentle, and both were sent-down youth.
That's why he rushed out to interrupt their eye contact.
Although his wedding date with Liuyin had been set, he always had a sense of uncertainty.
Excessive love can breed greed. He loved Liuyin, so he didn't want her to look at anyone else.
He even vaguely remembered hearing Liu Yin mention during their intimate moments that what she liked most was the burning look in his eyes when he looked at her.
The desire in her eyes was like an abyss, captivating her completely.
But he also felt that when Lu Shengtai looked at her, the longing in his eyes was no less than his own.
They're getting married soon; they can't afford any accidents at this time.
Liu Yin chuckled softly, granting the man's wish, and opened the box.
Inside was a red string bracelet and a flower made from several ten-yuan bills.
Liu Yin picked up the flower and examined it closely; it was quite exquisite.
Under the man's tense gaze, Liuyin placed them inside the box.
She also thought of Lu Shengtai's aggressive face at this moment; to be honest, he was indeed good-looking.
If she had met him earlier, Liuyin wouldn't have minded having a fling with him.
However, after glancing at the man standing beside her, Liuyin gave up on the idea.
As time went by, their wedding day drew ever closer.
Feng Wende returned twice during this period.
He was naturally happy that his younger brother was getting married, but it was a pity that his second brother couldn't come back to attend the wedding.
The day before the marriage was arranged, Feng Aiguo sent a letter to his second son, but the journey was long and he didn't know when he would receive it.
In this letter, besides mentioning his youngest son's marriage, he was also urging him to get married.
Now that his older and younger brothers both have their own families, he, who is in the middle, cannot be left behind.
Every time Feng Wende returned, it was the happiest time for Liang Lan.
In the evenings, my mother-in-law doesn't need to cook anymore; she does everything herself.
Because of his work, Feng Wende can only come home one day a week, and the couple can only see each other every few days, which makes them especially affectionate.
After dinner, when Liang Lan pulled him into the room, Feng Wende had some questions for her: how come the family relationship had become so good after only a few days apart?
When he first learned about Feng Wenyun and Liu Yin's relationship, he was certain that his mother would not approve.
But the atmosphere at the table was indeed very good when we were eating.
Liang Lan opened the cabinet and took out the packages of pastries. There were still quite a few left; she only ate one piece each day.
Liang Lan placed the pastries on the table and pushed them toward Feng Wende.
"Take these with you when you go to town the day after tomorrow. Remember to eat them early, or they will keep for too long."
These pastries have been with her for several days now, and she'd be heartbroken if they spoiled because they'd been sitting there too long.
After all, this all costs money!
Feng Wende was somewhat surprised when he saw the food his wife had brought out, but after a moment's thought, he understood.
"Did Liuyin buy this?"
His family could afford these things, but they were all used to being frugal and would never be willing to spend money on such food.
The money they spent on pastries would be enough to buy some meat to satisfy their cravings.
Only educated youth from the city were willing to spend money to buy these things.
"Yes, she bought a lot of things when she went to town with Wenyun a few days ago."
Not only did he buy things, but he was also very generous to people.
Even my mother-in-law gave me several boxes of face cream, while my father-in-law gave me some cigarettes and alcohol.
Feng Wende nodded and took the initiative to divide the pastries on the table into two portions, saying, "I can't eat all of these, so you should keep some."
Before Liang Lan could refuse, Feng Wende spoke first, "You didn't eat much, how could I possibly take it all?"
She only missed one or two pieces from each bag of pastries; she didn't eat much at all.
Under Feng Wende's firm stance, Liang Lan put her share in the cabinet.
This time when he came back, he was also going to town with Feng Wenyun to prepare the three essential items for the wedding.
