Watching Xie Nanzhou's departing figure, Liu Huizhou returned to the courtyard he had been indignantly.
The tea on the table had gone cold. Liu Huizhou glanced at it, then casually poured himself a cup and drank it all.
The cold tea, flowing down his throat, temporarily extinguished some of the anger in his heart.
The pain in her abdomen was still there. Liu Huizhou hissed softly, feeling that Xie Nanzhou had a terrible temper. How could someone like that take good care of his delicate junior sister?
The man's eyes flickered slightly, as if he had thought of something, and he couldn't help but raise the corners of his lips, revealing a hint of cunning and smugness.
It wasn't until footsteps sounded outside the door that Liu Huizhou snapped out of her daze and subconsciously looked towards the doorway.
Because of the backlighting, he couldn't see Ye Jing's expression clearly, but he could tell that his master was in a very bad mood, and the cold aura emanating from his body was something he rarely saw.
"Master, does Junior Sister not like that boy? When are we going back?" Without thinking, Liu Huizhou asked this question.
Actually, there was one more thing he wanted to say, but he hadn't finished. Liu Huizhou wanted to ask, "Master, when will you be able to arrange my marriage with my junior sister?"
Perhaps because the impressions from the past ten years or so were too deep, even now, Liu Huizhou still doesn't believe that his junior sister will marry someone else.
The bond that has lasted since childhood is not something that anyone can easily sever, at least not my junior sister's.
In fact, at first, Liu Huizhou proposed to Ye Jing to marry Liu Yin only because of guilt, and possibly because he was unwilling to give up his future with Wuchen Palace.
However, the man was somewhat unwilling.
However, after meeting Xie Nanzhou and learning about his feelings for his junior sister, Liu Huizhou became somewhat satisfied with the marriage.
He disliked Xie Nanzhou, but Xie Nanzhou's status, family background, and abilities were all superior to his. Even if Liu Huizhou was unwilling to admit it, he did feel a secret inferiority complex when facing Xie Nanzhou.
But my junior sister is different; she belongs to him, and no one can take her away.
As Liu Huizhou was still imagining Xie Nanzhou's future heartbreak, the eerie silence around him finally made him realize something was amiss.
The gaze that fell upon him was icy cold, and even in this warm spring season, it made Liu Huizhou shiver.
"Master?"
Faced with Liu Huizhou's questioning gaze, Ye Jing felt only rising anger, and he couldn't help but glare fiercely at the disciple he had always valued.
"What about the woman?" Ye Jing asked coldly, his tone full of disgust.
Ye Jing became famous for his swordsmanship in his youth and has been a chivalrous man for many years. He has seen many petty thieves and scoundrels, but he never thought that the real villain was right next to his daughter.
How can a fickle man be worthy of his daughter?
However, Liu Huizhou's actions still chilled Ye Jing's heart.
Because of his daughter, he and his wife had treated Liu Huizhou very well, and they had indeed intended to marry their daughter to him, but they had not said it outright.
If he didn't want to, he and his wife would never force him. But they never expected that Liu Huizhou would have such intentions.
Upon hearing Ye Jing's words, Liu Huizhou's face turned pale, and he hurriedly explained, "Master, Ning Shuyue and I have nothing going on at all; it's just a misunderstanding."
He was about to stand up and explain, but he flinched slightly due to the pain in his abdomen, his face contorted, and he looked rather disheveled.
Liu Huizhou looked up at Ye Jing, who was still standing there, motionless.
He would have preferred his master to be closer and scold him, rather than standing at a distance with a cold and disdainful expression, as he was doing now.
At that moment, he suddenly felt that the man in front of him was somewhat similar to Xie Nanzhou.
"Misunderstanding?" Ye Jing looked at him coldly, his tone somewhat disdainful. "You really are just like your father, sweet-talking but treacherous, with no sincerity towards those around you."
"From now on, there will be no Liu Huizhou in Wuchen Palace, and I am no longer your master. So, let's return what you have on you."
