Extra Gu Li 1

This wasn't the first time Gu Li had a dream.

He doesn't know when it started, but he keeps having the same dream over and over again.

In my dream, he was a heartless man.

At first, Gu Li was dismissive and disbelieving. He had never intended to get married, nor did he have a woman he liked. How could he possibly have the opportunity to be a heartless man?

But on the night he was about to return to Beijing, he had another dream, this time the dream was incredibly vivid.

Then a woman appeared who could make him fall in love at first sight.

Memories flooded back, and Gu Li frowned in pain in her sleep, her fists clenching tightly involuntarily.

He murmured painfully, "Liu Yin".

Gu Li wasn't actually afraid when facing death. Since he had decided to go to the battlefield, he was well aware of what kind of outcome he would face.

At worst, I'd die on the battlefield like my father. But there's one person who can't live like that.

Who could it be? Gu Li felt that her thoughts were somewhat inexplicable.

Suddenly, he recalled his memories from his two previous lives. The man's memories were somewhat chaotic, and he almost couldn't tell what time it was.

But he clearly remembered that the deputy general had said today that he would be returning to the capital tomorrow.

Thinking of this, Gu Li suddenly panicked, quickly put on her shoes, and prepared to go find her.

Gu Li remembers clearly that he first met her on his way back to Beijing.

He rescued her from bandits, and he fell in love with her at first sight. The time they spent together on the road was the most relaxed period for Gu Li since she went to the battlefield.

In front of Liu Yin, he was not a general who protected his country, but an ordinary man.

But he didn't encounter her along the way. What should she do?

No matter what happened in her past life, in Gu Li's eyes, Liu Yin is still the same beautiful and gentle woman she used to be.

Even if she married someone else and had children with another man, it was only because he had indeed done something wrong back then.

As soon as Gu Li lifted the curtain, she saw the soldiers guarding outside.

His face was pale, and he looked nervous. He asked, "Are we going to the capital tomorrow?"

Under the moonlight, it was indeed extremely dark, making it impossible to discern changes in people's expressions.

Unaware of the tension on Gu Li's face, the soldiers replied, "General, we will indeed arrive in Shengjing tomorrow."

After he finished speaking, even the soldiers themselves were surprised that the general would ask such a question.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew past, and a slightly flustered man's voice came through the cold wind, "Tell the lieutenant that I will return in a few days."

Gu Li, riding on horseback, barely managed to maintain his composure, but the growing fear in his heart and his slightly trembling fingertips were enough to prove that he was only barely managing to stay calm.

This time, he didn't meet Liuyin, and he didn't kill those bandits for her. What will happen to her?

He clearly remembered the past this time, so why did things turn out this way?

Gu Li suddenly remembered the two previous lives he had experienced; in fact, this was his third life.

In his first life, Gu Li did not meet Liu Yin.

After returning to Beijing, he met his grandmother and cousin who were waiting for him at the door.

The old lady had just brought up the matter of urging marriage when Gu Li impatiently interrupted her. At that time, he felt that he was still young and that even if he were to marry, he would never marry his cousin.

When the old lady brought it up again, Gu Li turned and went to the military camp, and then returned to the border.

Later, the old lady arranged for Su Yan to marry off, and wrote many letters in succession. Gu Li finally returned on the Mid-Autumn Festival of the following year.

Gu Li had no regrets in his first life. After his grandmother died, he had no relatives. He died on the battlefield, which did not disgrace the Gu family's reputation.

In his second life, Gu Li met Liu Yin.

Strangely enough, people's thoughts always change over time and with changes in the surrounding environment.

Just like Gu Li, who understood what liking someone meant the moment he met Liu Yin.

But when he didn't understand feelings, he could be decisive and cold-hearted; once he understood feelings, he could no longer do so.

Therefore, he lost Liuyin.

Is this a punishment for him? Gu Li was terrified. He had returned to his first life, a life without Liu Yin.

The man searched for a long time at the place where he met Liuyin in his previous life, but found nothing.

He even tried to recall the faces of those bandits from that time, a memory that Gu Li often thought of while in the military camp.

He drew the faces of several bandits and sent people to search for them, but there was no news of them.

Those bandits, like Liu Yin, seemed to have never existed in this world.

The few days that Gu Li mentioned at the time turned out to be more than a month later when he returned to Shengjing.

He returned to the general's mansion in a disheveled state, and was spotted from afar by the old lady who was waiting at the gate.

"You!" The old lady quickly clutched her chest. "What happened? How did you become like this?"

The old lady didn't ask the last question. Her eyes were full of heartache as she looked at Gu Li, which even Su Yan, who was always by her side, ignored.

She was angry before, but now the entire army of angry people has returned, while Gu Li is still out there playing wildly.

Seeing his grandson's current dejected and somewhat颓废 (tuí fèi, meaning decadent or dispirited) appearance, all that anger vanished.

Su Yan tightened her grip on the old lady's hand, but fortunately, the old lady was only concerned about Gu Li and didn't notice these things.

"Really? Cousin, how did you become like this?" Su Yan's tone was full of concern, but the surprise that she inadvertently revealed was the most heartbreaking.

The old lady's face turned cold for the first time. She glared at Su Yan in the shadows, but when she looked up at Gu Li, her eyes were full of affection.
