"Ah!" Shi Yi pressed her right hand, which was gushing blood. The dull pain and loss of blood made her look extremely pale.
Rong Qing looked at Shi Yi coldly, but his tone was extremely gentle: "Was it this hand that hurt her?"
Shi Yi bit her lip tightly, glaring at him with resentment, beads of cold sweat quickly sliding down her cheeks.
Rong Qing curled his lips into a sinister smile, "Isn't that it? That's this one," he said, raising his hand and making a light slash, causing a spray of blood to suddenly spurt out.
"No," Shi Yi cried out in pain, her arms hanging limply at her sides. The bright red blood trickled down her fair palms to her fingertips, dripping onto the ground and forming a line. Soon, two pools of water appeared on the ground.
"No? Not this one either? Could it be a foot?" Rong Qing's eyes were gloomy, and a cruel, gleeful smile played on his lips.
Shi Yi's body stiffened. Even ants cling to life, let alone someone like her who was blessed by heaven and reborn. Now that her hands were crippled, if she were to become even more unable to walk, she would rather die immediately.
In a flash, Shi Yi made her decision, turned around, and ran outside as fast as she could.
Rong Qing smiled coldly, drew the soft sword wrapped around his waist, shook it, and casually tossed it out like a dart.
The soft sword trembled slightly, its sharpness like a nimble silver snake, silently burrowing into Shi Yi's waist and abdomen.
Shi Yi let out a low groan, but instead of stopping, she quickened her pace.
Rong Qing scoffed and said coolly, "If I were you, I would stop. If you take five more steps, the poison will attack your heart. Even if a celestial being descended to earth, he couldn't save you. Don't blame me then."
Shi Yi paused, looking down at the trembling sword tip moving from behind her, her heart pounding.
Rong Qing straightened his slightly disheveled cuffs and slowly strolled over.
Shi Yi's face was as white as paper, and her whole body trembled like a leaf.
Rong Che crossed his arms and tapped his sharply defined chin with the other, clicking his tongue and saying, "So afraid of death? I thought you were someone important and was even planning to keep you around to use you later, but I overestimated you."
Shi Yi looked up at him, puzzled.
Rong Qing's fingers twitched slightly, and a barely perceptible tremor appeared as the longsword was instantly pulled out of Shi Yi's body.
The excruciating pain from the friction between flesh and metal was so intense that even a seasoned veteran like Shi Yi couldn't help but cry out.
Rong Qing didn't care at all. He tore off Shi Yi's clothes, wiped the few remaining bloodstains on the sword, and left.
With her hands injured, Shi Yi was powerless to suppress the gushing blood. The energy she had painstakingly cultivated vanished in an instant, and the loss of a large amount of blood left her feeling cold all over. She could only collapse to the ground. "Give me the antidote."
Shi Yi's voice was as weak as a flickering candle struggling in the wind.
Rong Qing seemed not to hear him, walked straight to the tree, and gently picked up Shi Lan.
"Hey, give me the antidote," Rong Qing's contempt infuriated Shi Yi, but her will to survive forced her to suppress her anger and beg this scoundrel for the medicine. She thought this was probably the most humiliating moment of her life.
Rong Qing walked about ten feet away, and then, as if bestowing a favor, said, "Take 100 grams of raw Coptis chinensis within half a quarter of an hour."
Shi Yi watched his retreating figure, suppressing the curses that were about to spill from her mouth, nearly grinding her teeth to powder.
She looked up at the sky again. It was already midnight, and the back mountain was a secluded place. How could she possibly get Coptis chinensis in half a quarter of an hour?
"Could you please go to the temple and tell them to come and pick me up?" Shi Yi asked, believing she had used the softest tone she had ever used in her life.
Rong Qing scoffed lightly, steadied his arm, and walked away without looking back.
Shi Lan, who had fallen into darkness, awoke with a sharp pain. The curtains hanging around her swayed gently, and in the pale moonlight, several camellias in different poses swayed slightly, and a wisp of floral fragrance gently brushed past her nose.
Shi Lan wrinkled her nose and sniffed, then turned to look outside the tent.
Beyond the hazy curtains, a landscape screen could be vaguely seen lying across the footrest. The screen was large and completely separated the bed from the outside world.
Shi Lan withdrew her gaze and instead looked up at the bedposts carved with figures and landscapes. If she wasn't mistaken, they were made of dense and priceless sandalwood. The thin curtains seemed to be moon brocade, a type of gauze known for its softness and lightness, and because of its scarcity, it was usually reserved for the royal family.
Shi Lan turned her head left and right. Because of her back injury, the only part of her body that she could move without aggravating the wound was her head.
She heard soft, slow footsteps outside. Shi Lan quickly closed her eyes, her little ears perked up, trying not to miss a single sound.
When the visitor arrived at the screen, Shi Lan waited patiently for a while, determined not to open her eyes.
The person seemed to pause for a moment before continuing to walk steadily and powerfully to the bedside.
Shi Lan's eyelashes trembled slightly, and her lips, which had lost too much blood, wanted to purse, but she held back for fear of being discovered.
After a sound of something being put down, Shi Lan felt a chill on her body. The brocade quilt covering her was pulled away, and something was gently rubbing against her shoulders and back. The icy fingertips occasionally brushed against her fair and smooth skin during the movement.
"Hmm, the recovery is going well. The wound will be healed in a couple of days," Rong Qing said, seemingly unaware that she had woken up. He checked the wound himself and bandaged it up again.
Shi Lan endured it for a while, but finally opened her eyes and glared at him angrily.
Rong Qing finished bandaging her, turned his head and saw her sparkling eyes. He pretended to just notice and gave her a bright smile. "You're awake?"
Shi Lan held her breath and refused to speak.
Rong Qing panicked a little when he saw her eyes were red from holding back tears. "Don't cry. If you feel you've been wronged, I'll make you pay for it." As he spoke, he unbuckled his belt and casually threw it on the ground.
Shi Lan gritted her teeth in hatred. Was he not satisfied with taking advantage of her? Not only did he look at her, but he also made her admire his muscular physique.
Rong Qing had probably never tidied his own clothes before, and was now frantically unbuttoning his clothes. Shi Lan took a deep breath, turned her head to the other side, and said in a muffled voice, "I'm not looking. Get out."
Rong Qing paused, then said, "Really not going to watch? I think it's pretty good."
Shi Lan simply buried her head in the blanket and mumbled, "I'm not looking."
"Alright then," Rong Qing said reluctantly, stopping his work.
A few sounds came from outside the door. Rong Qing picked up his belt, casually put it on, and went out.
Shi Lan turned her head and glanced around. In the hazy light, she could only see a shadow bowing respectfully and saying something. Rong Qing snorted coldly and said unhappily, "Send a few good men to capture them all. Keep the obedient ones, and deal with the disobedient ones. If there are any more problems this time, watch out for your heads."
The newcomer said something else, and Rong Qing waved his hand impatiently before turning back.
Shi Lan was craning her neck, engrossed in watching, when Rong Qing turned around quickly. Unable to exert any force on her shoulders and back, Shi Lan could only bury her head deep under the covers like a turtle to avoid being discovered.
Rong Qing possessed extraordinary internal strength; how could he not notice Shi Lan's sudden erratic breathing? However, he said nothing, only watching her foolish, self-deceptive expression, and grinning with amusement. (To be continued.)
