Chapter 133 The Female Professor's Tribulations (Part 10)

Back in her apartment, Shi Lan sat under the lamp, staring out the window, lost in thought for a while, her mind wandering back to the idea that had flashed through her mind in the hospital.

The tall man's smile was so warm, and she didn't want that warm smile to disappear from his face. After all, the man had been innocent from beginning to end, and she didn't want innocent people to be implicated because of her.

As night fell, the bright moon peeked out from the treetops, its dim yellow halo spreading out in concentric circles, gradually reaching halfway across the sky.

The wind is about to pick up. As long as you have a clear conscience, that's enough. As for the outcome, you can only leave it to fate.

Shi Lan buried herself in sorting out her feelings, found the materials she had borrowed from the library, and immersed herself in the sea of words.

Several days passed quickly, and Shi Lan remained hesitant and irritable. In her frustration, she simply put aside her concerns and focused on the increasingly imminent postgraduate entrance examination.

After visiting him in the hospital last time, Shi Lan thought that Liu Jinxiang would behave himself for a few more days after such an injury. However, just a week later, she saw him at the entrance of the library.

Seeing him leaning against the car, Shi Lan turned and left without saying a word.

"Lanlan," seeing Shi Lan like this, Liu Jinxiang quickly jumped up from his flashy sports car, took a couple of strange steps, and grabbed Shi Lan's clothes. "Lanlan, let's talk."

Shi Lan stopped and turned to look at him. "Do you think there's anything left to talk about between us?"

Shi Lan's face was icy cold, and her eyes were as indifferent as if she were looking at a stranger.

Students came and went around her. Seeing her like that and Liu Jinxiang holding on tightly, they all thought it was a piece of gossip and turned around to look at her curiously.

Since taking over the Liu Group, Liu Jinxiang had become a boss, second only to the CEO and above hundreds of others. His reputation was much more important than before. Therefore, seeing everyone's gaze, he lowered his head slightly, avoiding eye contact, his face burning. He wanted to let go, but worried that Shi Lan would simply walk away, so he forced himself to remain calm and said, "I really have something to discuss with you. This concerns our future. How about we find a place to sit down and talk it over?"

Shi Lan looked him up and down. His clothes were neatly ironed, his leather shoes were polished to a shine, and his hair was combed neatly. Although his face was still a little bruised, at least it wasn't swollen anymore, and he finally looked somewhat presentable.

"Alright then, let's go to the coffee shop near the school gate," Shi Lan said, having no choice but to agree after seeing her clothes being pulled so distorted.

"Okay, all right," Liu Jinxiang was overjoyed to receive the reply. He quickly let go of her hand, opened the car door with a scurrying gait, and gestured for Shi Lan to get in.

Shi Lan gave him a cold glance, turned her head, and walked away.

Liu Jinxiang frowned, let out a soft "Ah," and the words of reprimand were on the tip of his tongue, but he seemed to remember something and swallowed them back.

The car glided slowly and quickly pulled up beside Shi Lan. Liu Jinxiang opened the car window and smiled ingratiatingly at Shi Lan, "Lanlan, let's get in the car. It's still a bit of a distance from here to the door. I'll give you a quick ride and we'll be there."

They spoke so intimately, as if they were very close to you.

Shi Lan glanced at him coldly and said indifferently, "If you think I'm too slow, you don't have to wait. Anyway, it's not me who wants to talk, so do as you please."

Liu Jinxiang frowned slightly, then forced himself to smile. "No, I'm not in a hurry. I'll go with you, I'll keep you company."

Shi Lan looked at him with eyes so cold they could splatter ice, feeling utterly disgusted. But worried that he might cause more trouble and frighten the old man, she had no choice but to patiently deal with him. After a while, she saw a house with a pointed roof, red walls, and a doll-shaped sign hanging at the door.

Shi Lan ignored him and went straight in, choosing a seat by the window and ordering two cups of black coffee. Just as Liu Jinxiang parked his car and came in, the waiter placed the small, dark white porcelain cups on the table. He wanted to refuse, but seeing Shi Lan's cold face, he swallowed the words, "Give me a cup of tea instead."

"Speak, what exactly do you want to talk about?"

Shi Lan felt nauseous just looking at the face opposite her and didn't want to waste any more time talking to him, so she went straight to the point and asked him the question.

Liu Jinxiang seemed somewhat hesitant, but Shi Lan was not in a hurry either. She took a small sip of the steaming coffee, her dark eyes like black holes, utterly unfathomable.

"Lanlan, I've been thinking about our relationship a lot lately. You see, we're perfectly compatible in terms of personality and lifestyle, especially our tastes. I like what you like, and you don't like what I don't like..."

What exactly are you trying to say?

Listening to Liu Jinxiang spouting unreliable and completely nonsensical nonsense, Shi Lan impatiently interrupted him.

Liu Jinxiang paused, his expression stiffening, a strange smirk creeping up his lips. "What I was trying to say was, we're such a good match, don't you think it's a bit of a shame to break up like this?"

Shi Lan blinked, thinking she had misheard: "What did you say? I didn't hear you clearly, say it again."

Liu Jinxiang twitched the left corner of his mouth and raised his voice slightly, "I mean we're not breaking up, the wedding will continue."

Shi Lan stared wide-eyed at Liu Jinxiang in surprise.

The original owner wasn't like this back then. After the original owner broke up with him, she never contacted him again. How come this kind of strange thing happened with her?

The news was so explosive that Shi Lan was a little taken aback.

Liu Jinxiang glanced at Shi Lan, and seeing that she didn't speak, his face lit up with joy. He said, "I've tidied up all the closets at home. I'll go to your dad's this afternoon to get your clothes and stuff. Also, while school's not starting yet, let's go take our wedding photos. The weather's perfect right now, the photos will turn out pretty good, and then..."

Liu Jinxiang blinked and began to speak fluently.
