Chapter 147 The Love and Hate of a Courtesan (Part 8)

Shi Lan hurriedly found a set of clothes and put them on haphazardly. Before she could even tie the soft silk ribbon on her chest, a short, stout figure, like a ball, tumbled in.

Passing through the curtain, the ball came all the way to Shi Lan and said aggressively, "How dare you stop me from coming in?"

Shi Lan glanced at her coldly, straightened her clothes, and then looked at her directly. "You came in without the master's permission and didn't allow anyone to stop you. Are you perhaps a proper lady of this mansion? Then I must have been blind to your greatness. I apologize."

Shi Lan spoke in a light, casual tone, her expression scoffing. Her last sentence was sarcastic, especially mocking her for being illegitimate, which made the ball bounce three feet high in anger.

"You dare to belittle me? Do you even know who I am?"

Shi Lan pursed her lips and said, "That's really funny. You come to my room and ask me who you are. Are you out of your mind? Did you forget who you are as soon as you left the room?"

"How dare you!" Piqiu glared at her angrily, then suddenly rolled up his sleeve and slapped Shi Lan's fair and snow-white face.

Shi Lan slightly shifted her feet and dodged, her playful expression suddenly turning cold, her dark eyes flashing with a chilling light.

So you think she's a pushover just because she hasn't shown her strength? Even though she's sick and weak, it doesn't mean she'll let anyone bully her.

Just kidding, she won't know how many eyes the Horse King has until she beats his brains to a pulp... Although Shi Lan herself doesn't know either, that won't stop her from unleashing her power later.

Seeing that the situation was not good, Zhu'er by the door stamped her feet in panic. That was the famous Qinghong Lady in the mansion. If the lady of the house confronted her like this, she would probably suffer a loss.

Thinking of Qinghong's methods, Zhu'er felt a chill and hurriedly tried to run away. However, as soon as she turned around, she was grabbed by the sleeve by Chun Ya, a maid wearing a peach-colored ruqun (a type of traditional Chinese dress). Zhu'er tried to break free, but Chun Ya was tall and strong, and Zhu'er could not get away even with all her strength.

Just as she was sweating profusely with anxiety, Dou'er came over carrying a hot copper kettle, and Zhu'er quickly said, "Dou'er, come and help."

Dou'er looked up, and for some reason, suddenly raised the copper pot and smashed it directly at Chun Ya's head and face.

The freshly boiled water spilled out of the copper kettle, drenching her from head to toe. Chun Ya screamed, let go of her hands, covered her face, and collapsed to the ground, howling in agony.

Dou'er stared at her blankly, seemingly not having reacted.

Pearl was also stunned by the scene before her. Qiuyue, who was also serving Qinghong at the door, called out "Chunya" and rushed over.

Startled, Zhu'er saw that she was coming at her aggressively and quickly grabbed Dou'er, running outside without looking back.

Qiuyue was Qinghong Niangzi's personal maid. She was used to being domineering in the mansion and was unwilling to suffer a loss. Seeing that Chunya's face was only red and there was nothing serious, she hurriedly called for someone to bring Dou'er back.

Inside the house, Shi Lan slowly stepped forward, her knuckles clenched. "Who gave you the audacity to hit me?"

Qinghong blinked, a little stunned, thinking to herself that she could hit whoever she wanted in this mansion, but did she need someone else to give her the courage to hit her?

Shi Lan smiled, took two steps forward, lowered her head, and said gently, "Do you know what happened to the last person who hit me?"

Qinghong shook her head.

Shi Lan said, "He has been lying on the bed for several days without getting up. If it weren't for the doctor's effective treatment, he might have difficulty walking in the future."

Qinghong looked at her with surprise and disbelief.

Shi Lan tilted her head, winked playfully, and asked, "Do you want to try?"

Qinghong rolled her eyes, a little timid. The anger she felt that morning when she heard that Yue Zhan had specially invited Lady Han to come and see her had quickly subsided.

Seeing her look hesitant, Shi Lan smiled slightly, turned around and walked to the couch, sat down, and said while holding her forehead, "I'm a little tired, you can go back now."

Shi Lan's tone was very casual, as if she were instructing her maid.

Qinghong had never received such treatment since entering the Protectorate, and her fair face flushed red.

Having been used to throwing her weight around in the mansion, Qinghong was already accustomed to being fawned over and respected. Sometimes she even felt that if it weren't for her low status, no one else in the mansion could hold their position as a proper lady.

Qinghong's thinking was not without basis. Yue Zhan was a cold and serious person who did not spend much time in the manor. He was mostly leading troops on patrols. But whenever he returned, he would definitely go to her place. Although he only watched her eat and listened to her talk, this was enough to show his love for her. The servants in the manor had long since followed her lead.

This Lan Niang has only been here for a few days and hasn't even settled in yet. What right does she have to order me around? Her blood boiled, and she bounced up like a ball, crashing into Shi Lan's arms.

Judging by its momentum, if it were to be hit squarely, given Shi Lan's current physique, she would probably lose half her life immediately.

Shi Lan appeared to be resting with her eyes closed, but she was actually watching her closely. Just as she was about to be hit, she moved lightly with graceful steps, her figure swaying like a willow branch, and in a flash, she was two steps away.

With a muffled thud, the table creaked and wobbled as it tilted backward.

Qinghong screamed shrilly and collapsed to the ground, bright red blood gushing down her temples.

Shi Lan raised her delicate hand to cover her cherry lips, her watery autumn eyes widened, and she said in a seemingly frightened manner, "Oh, you're bleeding."

His head was throbbing and buzzing. Qinghong dazedly raised his hand to wipe it, and his hand was immediately covered in blood.

Qinghong was stunned for a moment, then immediately started howling at the top of her lungs, as if she had stirred up a hornet's nest.

"Help! Help! Someone's committing murder here! Quickly, fetch the Grand Commander! I...I'm going to die..."

Qinghong's voice was sharp and shrill, and Shilan felt the roof beams tremble as she spoke, and even the dust couldn't withstand the sound and fell down in a rustling sound.
