"What nonsense are you spouting? I think you're still half asleep," Shi Jun rebuked as Shi Lan had predicted.
Shi Lan tossed aside the fabric in her hand, snorted, turned around and sat on the edge of the bed, saying, "Why should omegas have to go to those bridal schools? Those schools teach you tricks to please alphas, and I don't want to learn them."
Shi Lan kicked the bed leg, clearly dissatisfied.
Shi Jun stared at her little feet swinging back and forth, his chest heaving violently. He wanted to get angry, but considering that she was still injured, he held back for a few seconds before lowering his voice and saying, "All the Os in the entire alliance study this. I don't know what you're thinking about all day long. How come you're different from everyone else?"
Shi Lan stood up abruptly, looked into Shi Jun's eyes, and said, word by word, "Because I am Shi Lan, I am destined to walk a different path from other Os."
Shi Jun shook his head helplessly, as if he had no way to deal with her stubbornness. "Fine, if you want to leave, then go ahead. I just hope you don't end up with a bloody head and come crying to me in the end."
Shi Lan tilted her head back, flicked away the hair that was blocking her eyes, and said, "No, even if I bleed, I'll wipe it off and tough it out."
The Shi family's father was stationed outside for many years. At that time, the insectoid race was not so rampant. The Shi mother spent most of her time with her father. There were only stewards, servants, and the three Shi siblings at home. The original owner was almost raised by Shi Jun, which is why Shi Jun held a very important place in the original owner's heart.
Shi Jun thought his spoiled younger sister would be flustered after hearing him say that. He didn't expect to be able to persuade his audacious sister who dared to run away from home to attend military school so easily. But he also didn't expect Shi Lan to give such a firm answer.
In response, Shi Jun raised an eyebrow, nodded noncommittally, and walked away with an air of "we'll see."
The door closed immediately, and Shi Lan, alone, collapsed onto the bed, beginning to regret her actions.
Before meeting Shi Jun, she had originally planned to take a conciliatory approach.
In this family, besides Shi's father, Shi Jun also holds a significant position. If he can soften his attitude, Shi's father will still give him some face. Shi Lan doesn't ask for much, he just hopes that when he goes back and is punished by the family rules, he can be beaten less.
As a result, she accidentally overreacted in the heat of the moment, and it would be a bit embarrassing to back down now. She can only pray that her mother-in-law gets better soon, so that when she gets home, there will be someone to protect her.
The starship docked at the space station on the capital planet, and the old butler quickly came up to pick up the Shi family's young masters and take them back.
Shi Lan reluctantly held onto Shi Min's hand, who was trying to break free, and asked him, "Second Brother, why don't you come back with me?"
Shi Min gritted his teeth and carefully pulled his hand out of her hands, which were wrapped like a rice dumpling.
He first glanced at Shi Jun, then raised an eyebrow and smiled at Shi Lan, "Don't say I didn't help you. I've already brought your biggest talisman. If I were here, your talisman probably wouldn't work."
Shi Lan pouted, looking angrily at the gloating Shi Min.
If she hadn't already pushed Shi Jun away as her talisman, she wouldn't have cared about him at all.
Shi Min winked and then slipped away.
Shi Lan pouted and stomped her foot in frustration as she watched him disappear into the crowd so quickly.
Seeing her childlike demeanor, Shi Jun pursed his lips and looked at the old butler beside him, saying, "Let's go."
The butler nodded with a smile and led the way. Shi Lan had no choice but to follow behind reluctantly, with Shi Jun escorting her beside her.
The transportation in this world is very advanced. Starships are used to travel through the universe, and spacecraft are used to travel within planets. However, the military's equipment is more advanced and they are also equipped with weapons, while ordinary civilians simply use them for transportation.
The aircraft glided across the sky and soon came to a stop next to a tall building with an ancient charm. The metal door slid open, and Shi Jun stepped out first, then turned to look at Shi Lan, who was dawdling and refusing to get off.
"Your father is looking to the side. Are you planning to wait until he gets angry before coming down?"
Upon hearing this, Shi Lan quickly crawled out, stood beside him, and grinned at him. However, she was intimidated by his cold gaze and lowered her head. Shi Lan was quick-witted and immediately put on a defeated look, as if she knew she had made a mistake.
Shi Jun's lips curled slightly, but he quickly suppressed it. Shi Lan was in a state of self-reflection and did not notice his strangeness. She followed Shi Jun into the house.
Passing through the entrance hall, one enters a spacious hall. Shi's father, dressed in military uniform, stands by the window with his hands behind his back. Hearing the footsteps of Shi Lan and the others, he turns his head, his square face showing nothing but seriousness and anger.
"Kneel down."
Shi Lan's heart skipped a beat, and her knees buckled involuntarily. By the time she realized it, she was already kneeling on the ground.
Shi Lan's expression changed, and she hurriedly tried to get up.
Shi Jun raised his hand and pressed down on her shoulder, whispering, "Don't move."
Shi Lan pursed her lips, trying to console herself. Anyway, she had already knelt down, so it didn't matter whether she knelt a little longer or a little less.
Despite saying that, she still felt awkward, so when she looked at Shi's father again, she couldn't help but feel dissatisfied.
Shi's father looked at Shi Lan with a stern face and said in a deep voice, "Do you know why I made you kneel?"
Shi Lan nodded, trying to appear remorseful, "I know, I shouldn't have disguised myself as B to go to military school."
"Anything else?"
Shi Lan thought for a moment and then said, "Also, I shouldn't have participated in this internship, nor should I have had the accident, causing my mother to worry and even making her sick."
Mr. Shi gave a deep "hmm," and then asked her, "Anything else?"
Shi Lan rolled her eyes and thought for a moment, realizing that these were the only mistakes she had made; the rest...
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the thick wooden plank about two feet long on the table. She quickly racked her brains and managed to come up with another reason, "Also, I shouldn't let you and my brother down by not going to the bride school."
Mr. Shi pursed his lips, paused for a moment, and then asked her, "That's all?"
Shi Lan tilted her head and thought for a while, then genuinely felt there was no other reason left. She looked up at Shi Jun.
Shi Jun looked at her calmly without saying a word.
Shi Lan blinked, sensing his hint, and shook her head, saying, "No."
Shi's father, holding the wooden board used for family discipline, walked up to Shi Lan and said, "Raise your hand."
Shi Lan looked up at him tremblingly, raised her arm which was wrapped up like a pig's trotter, and looked at her father pitifully, "Father, how about I remember this beating for now, and you can beat me again when I'm better?"
Seeing that Shi Lan's arms and hands were wrapped up so tightly, Shi's father frowned almost imperceptibly. His lips moved as if he wanted to speak, but he held back.
Who was Shi Lan? She had long been honed to be extremely perceptive. Although her father's movements were subtle, she knew something was amiss at a glance. Immediately, she hunched over, leaning half her body against Shi Jun's strong, muscular thighs, and softly hummed, "My head is so dizzy, I lost so much blood earlier..."
Mr. Shi hadn't spent much time with his youngest daughter, but that didn't mean he wasn't worried about her. Seeing that Shi Lan seemed about to collapse, he panicked and immediately looked to his most outstanding eldest son for help. (To be continued.)
