After resting at home for a week, Shi Lan was finally able to remove the bandages from her hands.
Shi's mother came over with her neatly ironed military uniform, and just then she saw Shi grinning, spreading her ten fingers and making opening and closing motions.
Shi's mother smiled slightly. After all, she was still a minor. She usually looked like an adult, but she would occasionally show her childlike side in private.
"It's getting late, your father is waiting for you downstairs," Mother Shi said gracefully as she approached, her large skirt swaying gently with her steps, giving the illusion of a beautiful woman stepping out of a painting.
Shi Lan responded, took off her pajamas, took the military uniform, put it on quickly, and immediately transformed into a dashing and upright soldier.
Shi's mother tugged at her sleeve, smoothing out the wrinkles on her clothes, and said softly, "When you get there, talk less and observe more. If you encounter anything you don't understand, ask your father. Don't be rash, understand?"
Shi Lan nodded.
In a place like the military headquarters, where big shots gather, there's no chance for a newbie like her who hasn't even joined the army yet to have a chance to speak up.
Walking briskly into the hall, Shi's father was reading the latest military newspaper. When he saw Shi Lan in military uniform, he frowned in disdain.
This youngest daughter really didn't inherit any of her mother's gentle temperament; it's such a waste of her good looks.
The father and daughter quickly walked out of the house and boarded the aircraft. The father stared ahead expressionlessly, as if no one was around.
Shi Lan pouted. If it weren't for her mother's request, her father probably wouldn't have taken her with him at all. Although she knew her father didn't approve of her joining the army, she had already received a medal. Why was he still so disdainful of her?
Shi Lan was determined. If he ignored her, she would ignore him too. Anyway, when the medal was awarded, he would have to talk to her.
The aircraft landed in front of an extremely ancient building. Before it had even come to a complete stop, Shi's father stepped out first. Shi Lan sat inside, moving rather slowly. As soon as she looked up, she saw that Shi's father had already entered the gate of the military headquarters.
Shi Lan was stunned and hurriedly chased after him, but she was still a step too late and lost sight of her father.
Shi Lan pouted, mumbled something indistinctly, turned to the butler with a smile, and waved for him to leave.
After the aircraft left, Shi Lan looked the building up and down, wondering if she should ask someone for directions. After all, it was a military stronghold, and the consequences of trespassing could be severe.
Just as she was hesitating, a sharp and handsome man walked out of the building. He smiled and approached her, saying, "You must be Lan."
Shi Lan nodded.
The man then introduced himself, saying, "My name is Shao Cheng. General Shi asked me to pick you up."
Shi Lan smiled and said it was too much trouble, but in her heart she was complaining that she was just being too proud and suffering for it. It would have been so much better to just take her there directly, instead of having to go through all this trouble again.
Shao Cheng led Shi Lan directly to the conference hall on the sixteenth floor via the elevator.
As soon as she entered, she saw a row of soldiers sitting inside. Shi Lan quickly glanced at their shoulder insignia and was startled.
Before coming here, Shi Lan thought that she was just an unknown nobody. Although she had some fame on the StarNet, compared to those who earned their medals through military merit, she was still a bit weak. She estimated that, apart from her father, there would only be a few colonels and lieutenant colonels as accompaniments. After her father awarded her the medal, everyone would just pack up and go their separate ways.
But now, seeing those lieutenant generals and major generals sitting upright in front, her thoughts were instantly overturned.
It seems she has made a remarkable contribution!
This was Shi Lan's first thought.
Seeing her dazed expression, Shi's father glared at her and gestured for her to come in.
Shi Lan quietly stuck out her tongue, tried to keep her feet down, but still walked in with her back straight.
Upon arriving before the group, Shi Lan gave a quick bow and introduced herself.
The soldiers with varying ranks on their shoulders all stared at her scrutinizingly.
Shi Lan lowered her eyes and let them look, silently thinking that it wouldn't hurt them to look at her. With her mother's good looks, she was quite confident in her appearance.
Seeing that Shi Lan remained calm and composed under their intense gaze, the officers all nodded in approval.
Actually, this award ceremony didn't need so many people, but because Shi Lan was about to be assigned to a military academy, these people all admired her and thought she was a promising talent.
Naturally, they wanted to keep promising talents under their control, so they approached the principal of the military academy and put pressure on him, all wanting to assign Shi Lan to their ranks as soon as possible.
When the principal learned what these people meant, he didn't know what expression to make.
When he first learned Shi Lan's true identity, he trembled with fear. Shi's father's prestige in the military was immense, and the thought of his daughter disappearing here with a high probability of not surviving filled him with dread.
He thought this was the worst that could happen, but then the butler revealed that Shi Lan was an omega, and he immediately felt that his time as principal was over.
According to the Alliance's laws, if an O is dropped on a planet occupied by the Zerg and causes harm, then everyone involved will be punished. Not only her companions but also the mentor who sent her there will find it difficult to escape responsibility.
He still feels lingering fear when he recalls the terrifying phone call he had with Mr. Shi.
Although Shi's father was very calm towards him at the time, saying that since the original owner had made the decision to join the military academy, she had to bear the consequences of that decision, his final unspoken meaning when he added that he didn't want others to know that she was a daughter of the Shi family still made him break out in a cold sweat.
