Liu's mother spoke gently and explained the important matters clearly and logically as she walked, which made Shi Lan feel much more favorably toward her.
As they spoke, the group arrived at the bank of a gently flowing river and crossed a small arched bridge made of white marble. Beyond the bridge, a high watermill wall stood along the weeping willows, with only the upturned eaves visible from the outside.
Madam Liu pointed there and said, "Fourth Miss, look, that's Qingxi Pavilion."
Shi Lan looked around. The environment here was indeed nice, with a narrow strip of water, shady willows, and many flowering trees near the wall. It was a pity that it was not the flowering season, so she could not tell what kind of trees they were just by a quick glance.
The clever little maid behind her pushed open the lacquered red door with plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemums carved on the top. Shi Lan followed Liu Mama around the screen wall, and several large banana trees appeared in front of her. After passing through the passage, a tall and steep tree was planted on the other side, with lush branches and green leaves.
Shi Lan took a closer look, noticing that most of the leaves in the manor had changed color, but this one was quite different.
After passing through the passageway, one arrives at the main house. Upon closer inspection, Shi Lan discovers that it is actually a two-story building. On the first floor, one side is furnished with writing brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones, while the other side is equipped with couches, soft pillows, cushions, and other items, making it perfect for entertaining three to five visitors. Upon ascending to the second floor, one sees brocade curtains and beaded screens hanging low to the ground. Lifting the beaded screens reveals tall floral curtains, neatly folded brocade quilts, and a clean dressing table. By the window, a table displays exquisitely designed vases with several currently blooming flowers in them.
The arrangement was exquisite yet simple, clearly carefully arranged. Shi Lan smiled slightly, feeling very grateful for Han's kindness.
Liu's mother had been stealing glances at Shi Lan the whole way. She'd noticed Shi Lan's expression was always indifferent, but seeing her smile now made her feel much more at ease. (To be continued.)
