Chapter 217 The Girl Who Was Switched (Twenty-Four)

Looking at the child with a necklace, little boots, and a rebellious and guarded expression, Shi Lan felt somewhat troubled.

If she remembered correctly, the only prince in her family had died several years ago, and the five princesses had also died tragically during the southern tour.

Although the boy's clothes were a bit dirty, they were still quite expensive.

Could it be that a concubine or relative from another palace brought this person to pay their respects?

Shi Lan looked around for a while, but didn't see any serving maids. After thinking for a moment, she had no choice but to ask him, "Whose family are you?"

The boy pursed his lips and looked at her, remaining silent.

Shi Lan frowned, equally annoyed. She wanted to turn around and leave, but she was worried that he would fall into the lotus pond. There was no one to serve him now, and the edge of the pond was very slippery. If he fell in, he would probably sink to the bottom in the blink of an eye.

After thinking for a moment, Shi Lan didn't ask him any questions. Instead, she put on a disdainful expression and said, "There's nothing here but water. How can you still have so much fun?"

The boy stared at her with his bright, dark eyes, his rosy lips pursed for a while before he whispered, "You said this place isn't fun, so what's fun here?"

Shi Lan rolled her eyes and said, "How about we go swing on the swings?"

The boy pursed his lips, a hint of disdain in his eyes.

Shi Lan felt embarrassed. She had thought that the child was too young to play with other things, so she chose something simpler, but he still looked down on her.

"I have twenty-four locks and sister balls, do you want to play?"

The boy thought for a moment, and perhaps feeling that this was rather profound, finally spoke up, asking, "You know how to play?"

Shi Lan grinned. She was a top student; how could something so simple be difficult for her?

"Of course."

The child looked Shi Lan up and down, seemingly somewhat disbelieving.

Provoked by his words, Shi Lan couldn't help but puff out her chest and say, "Why don't you come with me to my place, and I'll untie it for you right here."

Several soft, feminine shouts came from afar, and Shi Lan subconsciously looked for the source of the sound.

Suddenly, the boy grabbed her sleeve and pulled her behind the thin rock. With one hand, he covered her mouth, and with the other, he grabbed her waist in a threatening manner, and hissed, "Don't make a sound."

Shi Lan rolled her eyes and nodded obediently.

Perhaps seeing that she did not scream or resist, the boy's expression softened, and he slowly lowered his hand that was tightly covering her mouth.

Shi Lan took a deep breath, and the boy immediately stared at her dangerously.

Shi Lan smiled brightly at him, playfully leaned closer to him, and tugged at the exposed hem of her skirt, pulling it in a little.

The boy looked at her movements, a hint of tenderness appearing in his eyes, and his grip on her belt loosened slightly.

The eunuch called out "Young Master" as he walked past the thin stone. Silence returned, and Shi Lan turned to the boy, asking, "Who exactly are you?"

The boy pursed his lips and said, "I don't know what kind of person I am now."

Shi Lan blinked, a little confused.

The boy replied, "Didn't you have something to show me?"

Shi Lan nodded and led the boy back the way they came. On the way, they met a palace maid carrying tea, and she beckoned her to come along. (Latest and fastest updates)

In Fengzao Palace, Han Shi's expression was somewhat solemn. The Imperial Concubine rested her elbow on her temple, seemingly lost in thought or perhaps in a daze. When Caixia entered and saw this scene, she hesitated. Upon seeing her, the Imperial Concubine asked her what was wrong.

Caixia glanced at Han Shi, then quickly stepped forward and whispered a few words in the Consort's ear.

After hearing this, the Imperial Concubine raised her eyebrows slightly and asked, "How did those two run into each other?"

Caixia shook her head and whispered, "Fourth Sister said she found it by the lotus pond in the Imperial Garden."

The imperial concubine paused, then her eyes suddenly turned sharp. "Go and tell Commander Yan about this."

Caixia accepted the order and withdrew.

In the side hall, Shi Lan took out the intricately designed twenty-four locks and the twin balls, placed them in front of the boy, skillfully untied them with her ten fingers, and then pieced them back together one by one, looking at him triumphantly, "How about that? I didn't lie to you, did I?"

The boy looked up at her, fiddled with it for a bit, then disassembled it again, and then reassembled it perfectly, placing it in front of Shi Lan.

Shi Lanmo calculated the time and felt it was similar to her own, so she asked him, "Have you played this before?"

The boy shook his head.

Shi Lan stared wide-eyed, finding it somewhat unbelievable. She was someone who had experienced all sorts of advanced cultures and had played countless brain-training games, so it was normal for her to know these things.

This child is a true ancient person who has never been exposed to such things before. Yet, based on just one glance, he can immediately copy it. Shi Lan began to reflect on whether her intelligence was starting to decline.

The boy sat upright, his dark eyes fixed on her.

Shi Lan smiled at him and sincerely praised, "You're really amazing."

The boy's expression was calm, showing no sign of pride or arrogance. "It's because this thing is too simple."

Shi Lan paused, feeling as if she had suffered a thousand points of damage.

How could she possibly have a pleasant time with someone so smart and sharp-tongued?

The boy probably realized he had said something wrong, and quickly corrected himself, saying, "Of course, it's still a bit difficult for others."

Shi Lan: "..."

She knew she was that other person...

The boy became somewhat nervous as he noticed that Shi Lan's complexion had not improved.

He bit his lip, looking at her nervously, "Are you angry?"

Shi Lan took a deep breath, smiled, and silently told herself not to argue with a brat, but said aloud, "No."

The boy then smiled.

Outside the curtain, Mrs. Ruan waited there watching the two children interact, finding it somewhat amusing. Shi Lan always acted like a little adult in front of her, and she had never seen her so childish before.
