Chapter 249 The Grassroots Girl Who Cultivates Immortality (Twenty-Six)

On the plaza, Jian Shu, who had circled around the places he thought Shi Lan might appear, returned somewhat wearily to his fellow disciples.

Zhang Dongji scrambled to his feet and rushed over to him.

"Senior Brother Jian, have you seen Junior Sister Shi?"

Jian Shu nodded, a hint of melancholy showing on his usually elegant and refined face.

Seeing the grim look on his face, Zhang Dongji's heart skipped a beat, and his voice trembled involuntarily.

"Could it be that Junior Sister Shi..."

Zhang Dongji's throat tightened, and he felt a pang of sadness.

Jianshu commented, "She's fine."

Zhang Dongji glanced at Jian Shu and saw that although his tone was indifferent, his expression was very calm, so he guessed that he was not just saying words to coax him.

"That's good, that's good," Zhang Dongji breathed a sigh of relief, trotted back to his futon and sat down, without asking Jian Shu why he hadn't brought Shi Lan back.

A gentle breeze blew by, and Jian Shu looked down at the thin hem of her robe, the image of that great battle resurfacing before her eyes.

The sky was filled with spiritual light, and the frail, thin figure simply dodged lightly and stood firmly on the high ground, controlling the entire situation. The lives of more than a hundred people were in her hands.

Wasn't she an outer disciple before? How could she possess such a powerful magical artifact? And how did she become proficient in such advanced formations?

JianShu's brain is feeling a bit congested and swollen.

Seeing his dazed expression, You Yue chuckled and turned to say something to his junior brother.

The man then stood up and approached Jian Shu. "Fellow Daoist Jian, my senior brother sent me to ask you, what are your thoughts after witnessing that great battle? Do you regret giving up such an outstanding disciple?"

Jian Shu suddenly looked up, her sharp gaze fixed on You Yue, who was glancing at her sideways. Her already pale lips tightened, and she didn't utter a single word for a long time.

The man waited quietly for a moment, and when he saw that the man did not answer, he bowed and turned back to You Yue, who was sitting comfortably in a crooked position.

You Yue patted his shoulder, and the man sat down behind You Yue again.

At the edge of the square, a figure rapidly approached.

Yun Fang, who had been meditating with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them and looked the person and the almost useless thing in her hand back and forth. He clicked his tongue in pain.

Jianshu is extremely sensitive these days; upon hearing him make a strange sound, he immediately turned to look at him.

Yun Fang didn't bother with his fragile heart. He just stared at the person approaching and sighed, "I didn't expect Xu Qing to be finished like this."

Upon hearing this, You Yue turned his head and sensed it briefly. He couldn't help but twitch his lips, thinking to himself that the saying "the most poisonous heart is a woman's" was indeed true.

Shi Lan flashed to You Yue's side, tossed Xu Qing in front of him, and said, "Please help me take him to the mountain gate."

You Yue's face immediately fell, but he had no choice but to get up.

Having gotten rid of the burden in her hands, Shi Lan turned around and was greeted by Zhang Dong's extremely happy smile.

Shi Lan smiled back at him subconsciously, but when she turned her head, she saw Jian Shu's unusually complicated expression.

Shi Lan was taken aback, not understanding why he was looking at her like that.

Zhang Dongji had already gotten up and walked over excitedly.

"Junior Sister Shi, it's so good to know you're alright."

Shi Lan nodded, patted his shoulder, and walked away without saying anything else, brushing past him.

Zhang Dongji was taken aback by her reaction and was immediately stunned. Then, as if he had just thought of something, the smile on his face instantly faded.

Seeing him like this, Shi Lan sighed inwardly, but had no choice but to comply.

After all, what she had done this time was too big, and she didn't want others to know that she was close to him. She was worried that he would lose his life because of her.

Sitting cross-legged facing the direction of Qingyi Sect, Shi Lan glanced indifferently at Liu Minde, who was hidden among the crowd, and laid out all her previous gains in front of her.

Hundreds of storage bags were lined up on the open ground. Shi Lan opened them one by one and sorted out the contents into different categories.

The jade boxes, elixirs, and magical artifacts, piled up like a small mountain, were just sitting there openly, making the three distinct groups in the square start to get restless.

Yun Fang, thankfully, still retained some integrity. He suppressed his restless fellow disciples and whispered, "If you're tired of living, go and rob me. I'd like to know how much better you are than that Xu Qing?"

The Sword Sect members froze, all lowering their heads in embarrassment, avoiding the blinding lights, and silently reciting sword incantations with their eyes closed.

Two members of the Demon Spirit Sect looked at it with great interest, but before they could do anything, they were stopped and could only click their tongues.

Of the three sects, only the Qingyi Sect sent out two people who staggered over to Shi Lan. Without asking any questions, they reached out and grabbed her.

Shi Lan smiled and pointed.

A golden light was released and then immediately withdrawn.

The man let out a howl that sounded inhuman, clutching his hand which was missing two fingers, and roared, "How dare you harm your fellow disciples?"

Shi Lan disdainfully cast a Cleansing Spell to wipe away the blood that had splattered out, and said, "Sorry, I have already left the Qingyi Sect."

The man quickly swallowed a pill and turned to look at Jian Shu.

Jianshu looked up at her and her first thought was that she was blaming herself.

Shi Lan smiled faintly at him, looking ready to fight if he wanted to.

The man called out "Senior Brother Jian," trying to get him to stand up for him, but Jian Shu didn't even look at him, only lowering his eyes to look at the smooth stone surface in front of him.

Seeing that Jian Shu was ignoring him, the man had no choice but to pat his storage bag and release his most prized magical artifact in an attempt to regain his composure.

Shi Lan glanced at him with annoyance, then released the fire dragon she was used to. A burst of fire swept past, leaving only a wisp of ashes where the man had stood.

The man who had come with him a step away was so frightened that his legs trembled. When Shi Lan looked up, he took off running, almost tripping over his own feet in his haste.

Shi Lan watched the man's actions with a mocking smile, knowing exactly what was going on in her mind.

Look at the people Qingyi Sect sent this time, what kind of trash are they?

Half of them, like Zhang Dongji, relied on a bit of luck to reach the Foundation Establishment stage; the rest were people with furtive expressions and no rhyme or reason.

Of all the companies, only JianShu is somewhat acceptable.

Thinking about what Xu Qing had said, Shi Lan sneered inwardly. She thought she was clever, but she was used as a pawn and thought she was making amends for what she had done.

Liu Minde quietly glanced at Shi Lan, who was buried in the pile of jade boxes. Greed and regret for losing more than he gained kept flashing through his mind. Meanwhile, Li Mingrou was muttering to herself, "This person is really lucky. He survived being attacked by so many people. With those spiritual herbs, he should be able to advance to the Core Formation stage without any problem."

Liu Minde frowned and said, "Alright, that's enough."

Li Mingrou pouted. Although she was still a little bothered by Shi Lan's previous cold shoulder, she cared more about Liu Minde, so she didn't dare to say anything else.

Liu Minde secretly rubbed her fingers together, trying to give Shi Lan the smile she used to adore.

Shi Lan coldly observed his demeanor, and while she sneered, she also breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems his remorse is deepening.

Now that she herself is in dire straits, she can only do her best to fulfill the original owner's wishes. (To be continued.)
