Chapter 254 Insignificant People in the Apocalypse (Part Two)

After absorbing the memories, Shi Lan slowly exhaled.

The breath, carrying body heat, forms a thin mist in the air, which dissipates in an instant.

Shi Lan lifted the blanket, put on her clothes, and slowly moved her body.

This is the fifth day since the disaster began, and the third day since Minghao discovered his superpower.

The original owner was intelligent but had a carefree personality. She believed that Minghao was already deeply in love with her and didn't realize that the obedient younger sister she thought she was having an affair with Minghao.

The other two men in the team were also clearly very interested in Liu Hui. Given yesterday's precedent, Shi Lan felt that in this morally corrupt world, nothing was impossible.

Thinking about what was about to happen, Shi Lan couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine, and she decided to make a quick decision.

Anyway, her witchcraft is quite good now. The original owner's wish was to let Liu Hui also experience being eaten to death by zombies. Shi Lan felt that this was no challenge for her at all.

Sweat beaded on her back. Shi Lan grinned as she finished the last movement. Turning her gaze, she saw a dark gray tinge appearing outside. Judging that it was still early and they probably hadn't gotten up yet, Shi Lan decided to find some hot water to clean herself up.

Pushing open the door, a cold wind howled in, making Shi Lan shiver. She quickly closed the door, turned around and rummaged through the cabinet in the corner. She finally found a few cotton-padded clothes that she could wear. Although they were a bit thick, they were handmade and made of high-quality materials. As soon as she put them on, she felt warm and cozy.

Shi Lan fastened the top button, stood in front of the mirror, which was about a foot in size, and turned around twice in a novel way before wrapping her head and face with a scarf and reopening the door.

The cold wind was still howling, but Shi Lan could no longer feel it. Swinging her somewhat clumsy legs, she swayed to the side annex diagonally opposite. Just as she was about to open the small door, she heard a muffled sound coming from inside.

Shi Lan was startled and instinctively clenched her fists.

Could there be zombies inside?

Shi Lan held her breath and peered through the small window covered in icy crystals. Inside, a tall, broad-backed human figure was swaying about.

Shi Lan looked around, picked up the axe leaning against the corner of the wall, and quietly walked over.

They were suddenly pushed aside. Shi Lan gripped the axe handle tightly, waiting for the worst so she could chop it down.

The man took two steps forward, caught sight of Shi Lan out of the corner of his eye, and turned around. “You’ve come at the right time. Liu Hui wants to wash up. Go and boil some water.”

Shi Lan finally saw who it was and realized it wasn't a zombie, so she breathed a sigh of relief. But then she became unhappy again. "She's not without hands. If she wants to use something, she can burn it herself. I'm not her mother."

Guo Dabao frowned and turned his head, saying, "Since you're going to cook anyway, why don't you boil some water first?"

Shi Lan said coldly, "Once everyone gets up, I'll have to boil water, which will delay the cooking. I can't delay everyone else just for her sake, can I? I'd also like to steam some more dry food so we can have something to eat if there's nowhere to stop on the road. Why don't you go and ask around? If everyone is willing to go hungry, I don't mind."

Guo Dabao glared angrily at Shi Lan, then turned and went to the car to get two bottles of mineral water.

"I've never seen a sister like you before. It's a wonder that Liu Hui keeps saying nice things about you. I think she's just being fooled by your facade."

Guo Dabao slammed the door shut in a huff. Shi Lan rolled her eyes, picked up a few pieces of firewood scattered on the ground, and went into the side room.

After lighting the fire, Shi Lan scooped some water from the vat, heated it up, and quickly ladled it out. She wiped herself off as if she were a thief, and feeling refreshed, she hurriedly started making breakfast.

The small side room was soon filled with the aroma of rice being cooked.

The courtyard gradually became lively. Minghao and Shen Chen came out of their houses one after another. Shi Lan pushed open the door and said to the two who were about to retreat, "I'm going to steam some buns to take on the road. Can someone chop some more firewood?"

Upon hearing Shi Lan's greeting, Shen Chen pushed up his glasses and said, "Junior Sister Shi, this kind of thing should naturally be left to our strongman Guo Dabao."

Shi Lan gave him a fake smile, "Then I'll trouble Senior Brother Shen to call him. I'm worried he's too engrossed in his love life to come out."

Shen Chen's eyes dimmed slightly, but a smile played on his lips. "I'm happy to serve a beautiful lady."

Shi Lan grinned at him, then turned to Ming Hao, "Was the milk you gave me yesterday expired? Why did my head hurt so much this morning?"

Minghao's eyes darted to the side almost unconsciously. "Probably, I didn't pay attention to the date."

Shi Lan kept her eyes fixed on him, watching him lie through his teeth, and felt nothing but a cold laugh in her heart.

A few indistinct voices came from inside the room. Shi Lan was standing not far from the window at that moment. She heard Guo Dabao say dissatisfiedly, "Why don't you go?" Shen Chen's voice was low and could only be faintly heard. Finally, Liu Hui's delicate and charming voice came from inside.

After a moment of silence, the door was pushed open forcefully, and Guo Dabao strode in.

"If you can't even chop a piece of wood, what else can you do?"

Guo Dabao's voice was somewhat exasperated, clearly indicating that he had lost the open and covert struggle just now, and he was venting his anger on Shi Lan.

Shi Lan glanced sideways at the pile of firewood and said, "Enough with the nonsense. You can't do what I can do. Hurry up and chop more so we don't run out later."

Guo Dabao knew he wasn't good with words, and he had only acted out of anger. When he was rebuffed, he could only snort angrily. He grabbed the axe that Shi Lan had placed by the door, set up the round log, and swung it with a wide swing.

He chopped a two-foot-long log, as thick as an adult's thigh, to the ground in one stroke. Shi Lan raised an eyebrow. That was quite a bit of strength. No wonder his awakened superpower was strength.
