"ah……"
Liu Hui let out a shrill scream, "You dare hit me?"
Ever since Liu Hui came to the Shi family with her mother, she has lived a life of ease, with everything done for her. The original owner's doting on her made her feel that this was how she was supposed to live. Therefore, Shi Lan's slap was completely unacceptable to her, and she pounced on Shi Lan like a madwoman.
Shi Lan sidestepped her outstretched fingers, her toes casually pointing outwards.
Liu Hui's footing was obstructed, her center of gravity shifted forward, and she fell straight forward.
Shi Lan took two steps back, standing just above Liu Hui's head. With a flick of her toes, she indifferently tossed aside the hair that had fallen onto the instep of her foot.
With a muffled thud, Liu Hui's screams came to an abrupt halt. The numbness throughout her body and the sudden pressure on her chest made it difficult for her to even breathe.
After catching her breath a couple of times, a sharp pain shot through her body, and Liu Hui began to groan in pain, remembering her backup.
"Guo Dabao, are you dead? You just watched your girlfriend being bullied and didn't say a word?"
The confrontation between Shi Lan and Liu Hui ended in the blink of an eye. Guo Dabao never expected that Liu Hui would resort to violence at the slightest disagreement, nor did he expect that Shi Lan was no pushover either. Liu Hui did not gain any advantage and instead fell flat on her face.
Seeing the delicate body that had just been nestled in his arms now a dusty mess, Guo Dabao felt bad. Then, Liu Hui added, "What right do you have to be my boyfriend?" Guo Dabao quickly stepped forward and slapped Shi Lan on the head with his large, fan-like hand.
"Do you want to die?!"
Shi Lan bent over, rolled quickly on the ground like a monkey, gripped the machete that was leaning against the rock, and then slammed the back of the blade heavily against his arm.
Guo Dabao screamed, clutching his arm which was now covered in red and purple marks, and glared at Shi Lan with shame and anger.
"You still dare to lay a hand on me?"
Shi Lan said coldly, "You were aiming to kill me with that attack. If I didn't fight back, was I supposed to just wait to die?"
"Then go die!" Guo Dabao's face was contorted with rage as he clenched his fist and swung it out again.
Shi Lan assumed a fighting stance, ready for battle.
Seeing that the conflict between the two was getting more and more intense, Minghao had no choice but to get out of the car.
"Alright, we're all on the same team, what's the big deal about fighting to the death?"
Shen Chen helped Liu Hui, who was still slumped on the ground, to her feet and said to Guo Dabao, "Shi Lan is Xiao Hui's older sister. A little lesson is enough. Do you really want to kill her?"
Guo Dabao turned to look at Liu Hui, whose face was half-lowered, withdrew his fist, but still uttered a harsh word: "You better watch out."
Shi Lan curled her lip and scoffed inwardly.
Minghao unpacked the bag that Shi Lan had packed that morning, took out some steamed buns, and said to the side, "Your sister has been taking care of everyone these past few days, so it's your turn today."
Liu Hui raised her eyebrows, about to speak, when Shen Chen immediately seized the opportunity to say, "Xiao Hui, I'll go with you."
Liu Hui turned her head, and Shen Chen picked up the rabbit, smiling gently at her, "Isn't this a kind of rustic charm?"
Compared to Guo Dabao, Liu Hui preferred Shen Chen's occasional whimsy. Upon hearing this, she smiled slightly and followed Shen Chen to the side.
Guo Dabao was not comfortable letting his girlfriend be alone with another man, so he immediately followed her.
Watching the three figures disappear into the distance, Minghao whispered to Shi Lan, who was about to get into the car, "She's your sister, is it really necessary to be so serious about this?"
Shi Lan paused for a moment, then said without turning her head, "I treat her like a younger sister, but does she treat me like an older sister?"
Minghao was speechless, his heart skipped a beat, and he didn't say anything more.
Shi Lan sat in the car, carefully tucked away the hair she had just pulled out, and closed her eyes to rest, holding the machete in her hand.
The sky was dark and gloomy, with heavy, dark clouds hanging down in the air. The withered reeds swayed gently in the wind, making a rustling sound that sent chills down one's spine.
After the others finished eating the rabbit meat, Shi Lanjing came down with her knife and said, "I'll be on night duty tonight."
Minghao looked up at Shi Lan and said, "Don't be stubborn."
Shi Lan took two steps forward and looked down at him sitting on the rock, saying, "Night watch is a job that doesn't require superpowers or strength. As long as you're alert and don't slack off, anyone can do it."
As she spoke, she glanced at Liu Hui, who was still gnawing on the last bone with great relish, and said, "From now on, let's assign the logistics nanny job to someone else."
Liu Hui's fingers stiffened, and her face changed color slightly.
Worried that the two would start arguing again, Minghao quickly said, "Alright then, you can catch up on your sleep after we set off tomorrow."
Shi Lan nodded, bent down and added two handfuls of grass to the fire, saying, "Alright, get some rest so we can set off earlier tomorrow."
Minghao stood up, hesitated for a moment, and then added, "Take care of yourself. If anything happens, come and call me. Don't push yourself too hard."
Shi Lan glanced at him, then sat down on the rock expressionlessly and added a few more branches to the fire in front of her.
Minghao was met with a rebuff and felt somewhat embarrassed.
Shi Lan's behavior was particularly unusual today, and he began to suspect that she might have overheard something last night. At this moment, he regretted not choosing a different place; this place was far too close to Shi Lan, and the farmhouse walls weren't soundproof...
Minghao couldn't help but recall Liu Hui's passionate and unrestrained body last night, and her voice, sometimes melodious and penetrating, sometimes shy and charming, and a throbbing sensation ran through his lower abdomen.
Shi Lan coldly observed his alluring gaze and strange posture, and couldn't help but sneer.
