After getting out of the car, the group carefully searched the house. After dealing with two zombies trapped inside, Shi Lan rushed into the kitchen and gathered rice and other food items together. She then found some onions, potatoes, radishes, and cabbages.
Today is the sixth day since the disaster. The power supply has been cut off for a long time, and the vegetables that were kept in the refrigerator have long since spoiled. The original owner and the others have been eating fresh vegetables for several days. Shi Lan did not expect that there would still be any stock here, so she quickly turned around and called people to come and move them.
To everyone's surprise, when he turned around, he saw Liu Hui with her arm around Minghao's shoulder, her face leaning forward, her moist lips upturned, whispering something in Minghao's ear.
Shi Lan's face darkened, and taking the opportunity, she turned and went back to the house where they had previously agreed to stay, slamming the door shut.
The loud banging on the door startled Minghao, who quickly pushed Liu Hui's arm away and instinctively took a half-step back.
Liu Hui awkwardly withdrew her arm and snorted in dissatisfaction, "If you're so afraid of her, why did you get into my bed?"
Minghao forced a smile and said awkwardly, "Those things are all in the past. Now that you're Dabao's girlfriend, it's best if we keep our distance."
Liu Hui glanced at him, her watery eyes instantly becoming sparkling, and her curvaceous body snuggled closer, her slender white fingers drawing delicate circles on his chest. "The night before last... you treated her like that, making her fall head over heels for you, and now you're telling me to keep my distance? You rascal, are you going to break my heart?"
Minghao felt a heat in his lower abdomen, but the image of Shi Lan looking at him with disdain and indifference flashed through his mind.
The intense contrast of hot and cold made Minghao extremely uncomfortable, so he could only say, "It was all my fault that night, and I apologize to you here."
Liu Hui paused, looked at him intently, and, confirming that he was serious, said angrily, "I thought he was a real man. Oh well, I guess I was blind." After saying that, she swayed her hips and walked towards Guo Dabao, who was confused and about to come over to move things.
Minghao glanced sideways and saw Liu Hui swaying as she pulled out a handkerchief and reached out to wipe Guo Dabao's sweat, while she chuckled and said something.
Guo Dabao lowered his head, letting her do as she pleased, a silly grin on his face.
Minghao sighed softly. Since you can't have your cake and eat it too, if you have the best, then you should let go of the slightly less desirable one.
Shen Chen, who had been watching the whole thing from the shadows by the door, whispered, "If you regret it, it's not too late to chase after them now."
Minghao glared at him, his face flushing slightly. "Don't talk nonsense."
Shen Chen pursed his lips and said, "You know in your heart whether I'm lying or not. Just because you don't say it doesn't mean you don't know. Maybe you can ask your fiancée."
Minghao suddenly turned his head, his eyes filled with coldness, "What exactly are you trying to say after all this beating around the bush?"
Shen Chen chuckled and said, "It's nothing. I think your fiancée is quite interesting. If you don't like her, then don't take up space."
Minghao raised a finger, staring coldly at Chen Chen, "Do you think you're qualified to compete with me?"
Shen Chen shrugged and said, "Who knows?"
Minghao frowned, then walked away in silence.
Shen Chen touched his chin, watching his slightly heavy steps, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
Inside the house, Shi Lan took off her outer cotton coat, leaving only a thin cotton undergarment, and moved slowly.
As dusk fell, Liu Hui finished preparing dinner. Minghao knocked on Shi Lan's door and said, "Come out and eat."
Shi Lan responded, put on her thick outer clothes, and opened the door to see a plate of what looked like pig swill on the table.
What is this thing?
Shi Lan asked Guo Dabao, who was serving food into a bowl, with a hint of disdain.
"This is a 'mixed stew' that Xiaohui made."
Shi Lan leaned over and glanced at it. Judging from its appearance, it was probably cooked, but as for the taste...?
Shi Lan hesitated, considering whether to endure the nausea and have something to eat, or to take her time and not torture her stomach.
Seeing that she looked down on it, Liu Hui said, "This is my level. If you don't like it, you don't have to eat it. Nobody's begging you."
Upon hearing this, Shi Lan immediately got up and left. Anyway, there was still plenty of food in the kitchen, and she didn't want to sit there and drink pig feed.
Soon, wisps of smoke rose from the kitchen. Shi Lan had made a new dish of stir-fried shredded potatoes and hot and sour cabbage slices, which she ate with a pot of rice.
Guo Dabao came over to get more rice. He couldn't help but swallow when he saw the dishes on the stove. He couldn't live without spicy food. Shi Lan had fried the chili peppers in oil before stir-frying the cabbage. The white leaves were coated with a thin layer of red oil, and a faint sour taste filled the air, making it hard to move.
Shi Lan didn't have a big appetite, so she didn't cook much. Seeing Guo Dabao's eager gaze, Shi Lan simply finished off the plate in a few bites.
After confirming that not a single shredded potato or cabbage slice had been left, he pushed aside the bowl and chopsticks, stood up, and wiped the corner of Guo Dabao's clothes as if he hadn't seen him.
Guo Dabao smacked his lips, swallowed the saliva that filled his mouth, refilled the bowl, took a deep breath of the lingering fragrance in the air, then readjusted his expression and walked out.
As night fell, Shi Lan practiced her physical techniques twice and felt a little thirsty, so she pushed open the door to go out and find some water.
As soon as I stepped out the door, I heard a woman's seductive moans coming from the car parked in the yard, interspersed with a man's rough, suppressed growls.
Shi Lan was stunned for a moment, then realized what was happening. She shook her head with disdain and went to the kitchen to light a fire and boil water.
She plans to practice twice more tonight, so she wants to prepare some water to wash herself before going to bed, so she can feel refreshed.
Shi Lan sat in the kitchen waiting for the water to boil, then filled the kettle again. When she came out, there was no movement in the car. The car window closest to Shi Lan was rolled down, and Liu Hui poked half her face out. Her eyes, which were once full of dependence and adoration, now shone with the fierce light of a disillusioned mother wolf about to devour someone.
“It’s chilly at night, sister, you’d better not wander around. Otherwise, if you catch a chill, we won’t have any medicine to cure you,” Liu Hui smiled coldly. “Don’t blame me for not being a sister then. Please get off the bus.”
Shi Lan walked straight into the house without stopping, her eyes fixed on the door. In response, she was met with a loud knock on the door.
Liu Hui was so angry that her chest heaved repeatedly, and a large hand reached out from behind and pulled her into a hug.
"Alright, don't be angry because of her. I felt I didn't do well last time, so let's do it again."
"What are you doing? You're going to exhaust me!" Liu Hui twisted her waist and struggled, her fair fingers rudely slapping the shoulder of the person behind her.
The man grunted and tightened his grip even more.
Liu Hui struggled twice, but couldn't break free from the iron grip. Soon, she was pinned down by the burly Guo Dabao, and the wheels of the car reluctantly creaked through the night. (To be continued.)
