Shi Lan clutched her aching chest, her face pale.
The man glanced down at her, showing no remorse for bumping into her, and continued walking forward.
Shi Lan stared at the man's back with an unfriendly expression, gritting her teeth in resentment. Perhaps because she was thinking about the fortune-telling, she had habitually glanced at the man's face when she looked up just now.
A dark line is faintly visible between the eyebrows, and although the cheeks are rosy, there is a bluish tinge on both sides. This kind of face is not a good thing.
The man took long strides, and in that instant he was already three meters away from Shi Lan.
Shi Lan gritted her teeth, her gaze falling on his decent-quality clothes, and a sudden inspiration struck her.
Seeing that the man was about to walk out of sight, Shi Lan tried to steady her voice and showed a calm smile in front of her.
"Sir, please wait a moment."
Her clear voice had a strong penetrating quality. When the man heard her call, he paused and turned to stare at her.
Shi Lan pursed her lips, narrowed her eyes, and carefully examined the area for a moment. After confirming that what she had just noticed was correct, she felt a little more at ease.
"Sir, if you're not in such a hurry, I have something to say to you."
The man's slanted eyes suddenly sharpened, and his large hand, like a fan, seemed to be holding on but not quite. He appeared to be indifferent to Shi Lan's words, but if he really didn't care, why would he stand still?
Shi Lan's lips curled up slightly, her gaze becoming increasingly calm and composed. "Perhaps it can save your life."
The man scrutinized Shi Lan for a long time before turning around and slowly walking towards her.
What do you want to say?
Shi Lan smiled sweetly at him, "Well, what you say depends on your attitude."
Seeing her act like this, the man suddenly smiled contemptuously, turned around, and walked away.
Shi Lan's heart tightened, but he still had to maintain the demeanor of a master. His lips moved quickly, "When you're always in the martial world, you're bound to get hurt. But with today's advanced technology, I wonder if I'll still be as strong as an ox and as swift as the wind after being shot."
The man had already taken a step forward, but upon hearing this, his back tensed. Although he didn't turn around, Shi Lan knew that she had already intimidated him.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Shi Lan smiled. "Your Excellency carries an aura of malevolence, which should protect you from evil spirits. However, you injured your body due to overexertion some time ago, and your yang energy is insufficient, allowing the yin energy to take advantage of you." As she spoke, Shi Lan quickly made a finger gesture and said, "You may not believe me, but I truly meant well. However, revealing heavenly secrets comes at a price. I am not a bodhisattva; there is no benefit for me. Why should I step forward?"
The man asked in a hoarse voice, "What do you want?"
Shi Lan chuckled and said, "It's very simple, it's for money."
The man pulled out his wallet and asked simply and efficiently, "How much?"
Shi Lan knew that these people were unrestrained when they were weak, but became extremely cautious once they achieved success. Since his words had already resonated with him, he would not be stingy with money, regardless of whether they were true or false.
"Not much, a thousand."
The man's thick fingers casually tucked a wad of red bills into his wallet. "My money isn't easy to take. Here, take it. Do you dare?"
“Since I’ve already asked, what’s there to be afraid of?” Shi Lan smiled as she took the money, pointed out ten cards, and returned most of the rest to him.
The man didn't take it, but instead looked at her.
Shi Lan took a step forward, and the man warily tried to back away. Shi Lan glanced at him lightly.
With just one glance, the man immediately stopped, and even leaned forward slightly to show that he wasn't afraid.
Shi Lan reached out and stuffed the money back into his wallet, saying in a low voice, "Your brow is dark, an ominous star is approaching your destiny palace, and your cheeks are bluish, indicating that a villain is secretly causing trouble. It would be best for you to stay at home for the next few days. If you must go out, be sure to stay away from anything related to rats."
The man gave Shi Lan a deep look, but didn't ask why. He simply put away his wallet and strode away without hesitation or looking back.
Shi Lan looked down at the bills in her hand and smiled slightly.
After carefully putting away the money, she stepped into the shop where a finely crafted cheongsam hung on the door.
As soon as the door was pushed open, the iron bell hanging on it jingled, and a man with middle-aged hair, dressed in a straight robe, quickly came out.
"Would you like to order a cheongsam?"
The man adjusted his glasses, which were clipped to the bridge of his nose, and looked Shi Lan up and down, who was dressed in cheap clothes.
Shi Lan shook her head and said, "I have a skill, I wonder if the boss needs it?"
The man looked at the youthful and vibrant Shi Lan, completely bewildered by what she was saying.
Shi Lan looked around, picked up a piece of cloth from the corner, and then picked out a thin needle from the thread bag full of needles on the table.
Her slender fingers manipulated the fine needle, making the soft black thread dance up and down on the piece of cloth. After a few minutes, Shi Lan handed the cloth to the man and asked, "How much do you think this is worth?"
The man took the piece of cloth in amazement, examined it closely for a while, and then looked at Shi Lan with a very strange expression. "Where did you learn all these embroidery techniques?"
Shi Lan smiled without saying a word.
The man looked at the piece of cloth again, reluctantly put it down, and asked, "What else can you embroider?"
Shi Lan said, "That depends on what you need."
The man pondered for a moment and said, "I do have such jobs, but they've all been contracted out to others. How about this, if you're willing, leave your contact information, and I'll contact you when there's work."
Shi Lan nodded. The man's answer was exactly what she expected. She understood the information implied in his words that the embroidery came from another source. However, she was confident that no one here could embroider better than her, nor did anyone know more techniques than her.
After leaving the house, I walked back to the convenience store along the road, picked up my car, and went home.
After paying the rent to Zhang Xiaomin, Shi Lan felt much more relaxed.
After eating a bowl of soy sauce soup noodles, Shi Lan tidied up the house, slightly expanding the small open space in the center, and then began practicing physical techniques.
As night fell, she was covered in sweat. After a quick shower, she returned to bed and, as usual, began cultivating the Chaos Technique.
A faint golden light enveloped her, and after a moment she opened her eyes, her brows furrowing.
Since entering Haoze's soul, Shi Lan had been deliberately suppressing the operation of the Chaos Technique because she shared a bed with Mo Yun. Therefore, she did not know that the Chaos Technique could not be released outside here.
However, thinking back to when she wanted to shoot the Soul-Destroying Nail but couldn't, she understood. After all, this was still Haoze's territory. Although she entered with the familiar aura, she probably couldn't be as free as she was in other worlds.
It's unclear how much of her former talent she can utilize here. The only certainty is that she can cultivate physical skills and perform divination. As for witchcraft, which can only be successful by relying on divine secrets, it seems that it won't work now.
Shi Lan sighed softly. To be honest, she had considered using witchcraft to kill Zhou Yuxiu back then, but since there was no conclusive evidence that she was the evil entity, Shi Lan didn't want to harm an innocent life. The thought only flashed through her mind before she dismissed it. Now it seemed that she was right. After all, this was Haoze's soul, and her every move would leave a trace here. Shi Lan didn't want him to think she was so cold-blooded and cruel.
