Time flies when you're busy, and before you know it, it's time for your day off. Shi Lan was busy working on her shift and also had to take care of Ning Yuze, who seemed to be doing nothing, so she took over Wen Jiao's shift.
Around noon, Shi Lan took her lunch upstairs and passed by the study, where she saw Ning Yuze bending over to look at the embroidery frame.
Perhaps because this body was relatively young, Shi Lan suddenly had a wicked sense of humor. She suddenly pushed open the door and said to the inside, "Young Master, there's braised pork, which you like, today."
Ning Yuze was reaching out to touch the pattern when he heard Shi Lan's voice, and his fingers froze.
Shi Lan had good eyesight and could clearly see that the thin silk shirt he was wearing suddenly tightened and then quickly loosened.
Shi Lan chuckled inwardly, pretending not to notice his movements, and turned to the dining table.
Ning Yuze strolled over and asked Shi Lan, who was looking at him with a relaxed expression, "Where did you learn your embroidery?"
Thinking of the probing questions she had asked him, Shi Lan couldn't rule out the possibility that he was secretly investigating her, so she said, "I learned it on my own."
Ning Yuze raised an eyebrow, but inwardly thought it was nonsense.
Such lifelike patterns and such intricate colors—it would be a miracle if she could embroider them so well without the guidance of a master.
Shi Lan lowered her eyes, eating her rice and vegetables with satisfaction, not caring whether he believed it or not.
Ning Yuze silently tried to coerce him with his eyes for a while, but when he found it was useless, he looked down and saw that most of the food was gone. He didn't care about anything else and quickly lowered his head to eat.
Although Shi Lan kept eating, she kept glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. When she saw his actions, she puffed out her cheeks, which were full of food, and tried her best to suppress her laughter.
After finishing his meal, Ning Yuze felt increasingly uncomfortable. He was uneasy that Shi Lan was involved in something without his knowledge. Out of habit, he subconsciously wanted to order someone to investigate, but when he saw Shi Lan engrossed in her needlework, he hesitated.
Although his subordinates are very tight-lipped, the things they investigate will never be known to a third person.
But for some reason, he just didn't want anyone to know anything about her, not at all.
Ning Yuze twitched his fingers in frustration and, trying to make conversation, said, "Winter is coming, and you'll need to change your uniforms."
Shi Lan absentmindedly hummed in agreement.
Ning Yuze glanced at her, then glanced at her again.
Shi Lan lay on the embroidery frame, not raising her head.
"Change the clothes at the old house too."
...
This time, even the perfunctory "um" was gone.
Ning Yuze's face darkened, and he had no choice but to make his point clear.
"I'm leaving this to you."
Shi Lan was embroidering half a petal on the shoulder when she vaguely heard him say "give it to her." She quickly came to her senses and asked, "What did you say?"
Seeing that she had been brought back to her senses, Ning Yuze immediately straightened his back. He thought to himself that she only bothered with him because she knew there was money to be made, but he didn't care. Thinking of her attitude just now, he immediately raised his chin arrogantly and said, "I don't know."
Shi Lan blinked, wondering what all this was and why she had been entrusted with it.
Shi Lan wanted to ask more questions, but Ning Yuze turned his head away and became engrossed in his computer again.
Shi Lan silently flirted with Ning Yuze for a while, but the expected change of heart did not occur. Helpless, she could only wait and see what he would do.
As night fell, after making the bed for Ning Yuze, she habitually tilted her head back, waiting for the kiss that she received every night.
A faint rustling sound of fabric could be heard, but the expected soft touch was nowhere to be found.
Shi Lan opened her eyes in confusion, only to find that the man who had been standing next to her had somehow crawled into the blankets, leaving only the back of his head exposed to her.
Shi Lan blinked, belatedly realizing that he was angry.
But why is he angry?
Shi Lan returned to her room with a puzzled look on her face and took out the results of her staying up all night these past few days from the closet.
A set of finely stitched pajamas.
Turning the hem over and stretching it on the embroidery hoop, Shi Lan took out two strands of the black thread that had been split into thirty-two strands, twisted them with a strand of gold thread, and began to stitch along the pattern that had been drawn earlier.
After several night train journeys, the embroidery on the pajamas was finally finished. Shi Lan then starched the clothes, hung them to dry in a shady place, and went to sleep.
She felt like she had only closed her eyes for a short while when she was forcefully woken up.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Ning Yuze looking at him with a sour face.
Shi Lan sat up halfway, still dazed, and asked, "How did you get into my room?"
Ning Yuze threw down a box with a dark face and said succinctly, "Wear it."
After saying that, he left with his back turned.
Shi Lan rubbed her head, opened the box, and inside was a well-made pale yellow dress.
Shi Lan raised an eyebrow, not understanding what he was up to this time, but judging from his aloof attitude these past few days, he probably wouldn't explain it to her.
She nimbly jumped out of bed, quickly washed up, and obediently put on the long dress, only to be surprised to find that the dress fit her unexpectedly well.
Looking in the full-length mirror, Shi Lan gave a smug wink. As soon as she opened the door, she bumped right into the person standing there. To make matters worse, her gaze hadn't even returned before he caught her looking right in the face.
"Young Master, what are you doing here?" Shi Lan's face hadn't felt this hot in a while. He coughed dryly and quickly stepped aside to avoid his burning gaze.
Ning Yuze stared at her for a while, then turned around first, his mind flashing back to the captivating beauty of her glance.
Shi Lan followed behind him obsequiously, wanting to ask him where he was going, but worried about being rebuffed, feeling incredibly frustrated.
Ning Yuze, being tall and long-legged, turned directly around the staircase and led her down to the basement via a direct staircase behind a bookshelf she had never imagined.
Even after getting into the car, Shi Lan was still a little dazed.
Ning Yuze floored the accelerator, and Shi Lan felt as if she were riding a rocket, shooting straight off.
They sped along and arrived at an antique-style mansion.
Two elderly people were playing chess by the door. When they saw Ning Yuze, they greeted him warmly, "Little Ze is here," and then became engrossed in their game again.
Ning Yuze gave a faint "hmm" and then pulled Shi Lan into the courtyard.
The courtyard has a wonderful environment, with two slender stones arranged one in front of the other, surrounded by green trees and fragrant flowers.
After walking halfway around the covered walkway where people kept passing by, I saw an elderly man with gray hair lying in a rocking chair in the distance, enjoying the green trees and red flowers while leisurely drinking tea.
Upon seeing the old man, Ning Yuze immediately grabbed Shi Lan and strode over.
Shi Lan had no idea he was going to pull this stunt, and she struggled frantically.
Ning Yuze gripped her seemingly boneless fingers tightly, then suddenly turned his head and said, "My grandfather wants me to marry Zhou Lisha."
Shi Lan was startled, her eyes widening as she stared at him. What did he mean by that? Was Zhou Lisha the big-breasted, brainless girl she had met when she delivered the cake?
Ning Yuze seemed to understand what she meant and nodded affirmatively.
This completely enraged Shi Lan.
