Chapter 53 The Fiancée's Resentment (Part Two)

After reading about the original owner's life, Shi Lan was so angry that she felt a lump in her throat, unable to swallow or spit it out.

She reached out and pulled out the IV drip that was almost finished, then moved her arms and legs a little. Feeling no discomfort, Shi Lan breathed a sigh of relief.

Turning her head, Shi Lan saw Si Yue sleeping soundly with his eyes closed, like a dead pig, with even a smile on his lips. Shi Lan gritted her teeth in hatred, raised her hand, and slapped his fair face.

With a crisp 'snap', Si Yue opened his drowsy eyes, looked around in confusion, and finding no one there, could only cover his face in bewilderment. When he looked up and saw Shi Lan's dark and deep eyes, he immediately smiled, "Lanlan, you're awake?"

Shi Lan nodded with a straight face, lifted the blanket, and tried to get out of bed.

Si Yue hurriedly bent down to arrange the slippers and said ingratiatingly, "Lanlan, where are you going? I'll go with you."

Shi Lan looked at him expressionlessly, "Go to the restroom."

Si Yue paused, awkwardly withdrew his outstretched hand, and stood stiffly to the side, his slightly upturned phoenix eyes narrowing to conceal the uncertainty in them.

As soon as Shi Lan closed the bathroom door, she slapped herself in frustration.

She really couldn't resist; she hadn't figured out how to deal with him yet. What should she do now that she'd woken him up?

Shi Lan sat on the toilet seat, deep in thought.

A few soft knocks came from outside, followed by the sound of high heels clicking on the floor. Si Yue's voice could be faintly heard through the door.

Shi Lan jumped up and rushed to the door, pressing her ear against it to listen to what was happening outside.

"What are you doing here? Get out, you're not welcome here."

Si Yue's voice was cold, with a hint of disgust in it.

"I...I'm here to apologize. Everyone drank too much last night..." the woman stammered.

"Get out! Didn't you hear me?"

Si Yue's blunt actions made Shi Lan, who knew who the visitor was, secretly nod, her impression of him improving slightly. Perhaps this Si Yue wasn't so hopeless after all.

"...After what you did to me last night, you left without looking back. Now that you've seen me, shouldn't you ask me how I am?" After a few seconds of silence, the woman said, sobbing.

The outside became completely silent. Shi Lan frowned, opened the door, and walked out with a perfect smile on her lips.

"A-Yue," Shi Lan said, her gaze falling on the woman with tears in her eyes, "and who is this?"

A hint of panic flashed across Si Yue's face. He quickly took a step back, blocking the person at the door, and reached out to help Shi Lan. "This is Secretary Cheng from one of my company's departments. She's here to tell me something."

Perhaps feeling guilty, Si Yue offered an explanation for his seemingly superfluous act of "turning snake into feet."

Shi Lan dodged his outstretched hand and said calmly, "Since it's a company matter, let's talk about it at the company. This is a hospital room, not the Si Group's office."

Shi Lan's voice was soft and pleasant, but in contrast, the coldness and aloofness in her words were palpable.

Si Yue's hand trembled, and when he looked up at the coldness in Shi Lan's eyes, his mind was in turmoil.

With tears in her eyes, Cheng Yueyao glanced at Si Yue with tender affection, then suddenly walked towards Shi Lan. "Miss Shi, what happened last night was my fault. The president has feelings for you. It was me, I was drunk and bewitched, wanting to fulfill my desires," she said, large tears sliding down her cheeks. "I would never ruin your happiness. I'm just an inconspicuous weed by the roadside. Miss Shi and the president are the perfect match."

As soon as she finished speaking, Cheng Yueyao covered her mouth and burst into tears, her body trembling like a withered leaf in the wind.

Shi Lan frowned as she watched Si Yue's excellent singing and recitation performance, then looked up at the embarrassed yet somewhat proud Si Yue, "You slept with her yesterday?"

Si Yue blushed, nodded haphazardly, and reached out to pull Cheng Yueyao.

Whether it was because he learned that a woman was so infatuated with him, or because he felt sorry for her, Si Yue's tone softened considerably. "Lanlan is still sick. What are you doing here? Leave now."

Following his force, Cheng Yueyao staggered, let out a soft cry, her long legs went weak, and she fell limply into his arms.

Si Yue froze, his hand, which was about to push her out the door, paused, and he stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do.

Shi Lan raised her hand and clapped her hands lightly, a slight smirk on her lips, and said coldly, "This is quite a sight. But you two seem to have chosen the wrong place to show off your affection. This is my hospital room. Please leave immediately."

Si Yue snapped out of his daze and quickly pushed Cheng Yueyao away, saying awkwardly, "Lanlan, let me take her out first, and I'll explain to you later."

A cold smile appeared on Shi Lan's lips. The goodwill that had just arisen vanished with his actions.

A few minutes later, Si Yue walked in.

Shi Lan stared at him coldly, without saying a word.

Si Yue sat at the foot of the bed, head down, with a look of having done something wrong.

Shi Lan took a deep breath and asked him, "What do you plan to do about this?"

Si Yue secretly glanced at Shi Lan and asked her in a low voice, "What do you suggest we do?"

Shi Lan was so angry she almost laughed. Did he really need her to come up with ideas for something like this?

"I see that Miss Cheng is deeply in love with you, and you also have feelings for her. Why don't I do you a favor and break off the engagement?" Shi Lan turned her head away, suppressing the bitterness and pain spreading in her chest, and said calmly.

Si Yue stood up abruptly, and because of the sudden movement, the chair he was pulling over tipped over.

"No, I disagree," Si Yue said loudly.

Shi Lan turned to look at him. "Isn't this what you wanted? You brought him to our bridal chamber and did that kind of thing on our wedding bed, which I haven't even slept on myself. Isn't that what you meant? What's the point of you objecting now?"

Shi Lan chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Now that they've come knocking on my door, if I don't give up the space, do you expect me to come and kick me out?"

Si Yue wanted to argue, but couldn't come up with a reason, so he could only clench his fists, his arm muscles tensing up.

Several rhythmic knocks came from the door, and a man's voice came in.

"May I come inside?"

Si Yue turned to look at the closed door. Shi Lan glanced at him and called out, "Please come in."

The door slowly opened, and a man in a white coat walked in with a nurse with an apple-shaped face.

"Excuse me, did I disturb you?" The man sensed something was off as soon as he entered the room.

Shi Lan smiled and said, "No, we just finished talking."

The man glanced at Si Yue, whose face was ashen, walked past him, and came to Shi Lan, examining her fair and delicate face. "How are you feeling? Is anything bothering you?"

Shi Lan shook her head. "No."

The man nodded, picked up the medical record from the bedside table and glanced at it. "I'll have a routine check-up with the nurse later. If everything's fine, I can be discharged."

Shi Lan thanked him with a smile, and after the two left, she coldly glanced at Si Yue, "You can leave now. Tomorrow I will publish a statement in the newspaper announcing the annulment of our engagement, so that Aunt Si won't have to notify everyone."

Si Yue's chest heaved violently, his clenched fists trembled slightly, and the words of pleading were on the tip of his tongue, but under Shi Lan's cold gaze, he still turned his head away in a disheveled manner and left unwillingly.
