Chapter 56 The Fiancée's Resentment (Part 5)

Lakeside Cottage is one of the most upscale restaurants in the city.

Si Yue gazed tenderly at Shi Lan, who was dining elegantly. "Lanlan, I specifically asked them to use less oil and salt. How is it? Does it taste alright?"

Hearing his boastful tone, Shi Lan swallowed the bland food, grinned, and forced out a "Not bad."

The original owner preferred food with little oil and salt, while Shi Lan liked rich and flavorful food. Si Yue thought he understood the original owner, so he served the dishes he had ordered in advance, leaving Shi Lan no chance to choose.

Si Yue grinned, showing off his white teeth, and said happily, "I'm glad you like it."

Shi Lan looked up at Si Yue, who was smiling broadly, and felt a deep suspicion.

She only ate a few bites, clearly showing a poor appetite, yet he still believed in this mere polite formality.

How does someone so clueless manage to control his employees?

A petite figure peeked out from the doorway, cautiously looked around, and then, seemingly spotting her target, timidly entered.

Shi Lan glanced at her out of the corner of her eye and felt that she looked somewhat familiar. Upon closer inspection, she snorted inwardly, but she also knew that she wouldn't just obediently disappear from her life.

Shi Lan put down her chopsticks, raised her chin, and said casually, "Did you invite them?"

Lakeside Cottage is a high-end restaurant, and you can't enter without a reservation. Shi Lan's question surprised Si Yue. Following her gaze, he saw Cheng Yueyao with her graceful gait.

Si Yue's smiling face immediately turned angry. "Why are you here?"

Startled by his angry voice, Cheng Yueyao shrank back slightly. After a few seconds, she tentatively took a few steps forward. Seeing that Shi Lan did not react, she seemed to gain some courage and walked to the table where the two of them were eating.

"President, I received a notification from HR today saying..." Cheng Yueyao seemed to feel her voice was a bit weak, so she quickly adjusted her tone, raising it a few decibels, "that I've been fired."

Si Yue said impatiently, "That's right, I gave the order to the HR department. Cheng Yueyao, if you know what's good for you, leave on your own, otherwise you won't even get three months' compensation."

Upon hearing Si Yue's words, Cheng Yueyao's eyes immediately filled with tears, and her rosy lips turned slightly pale. "You can't do this. I... I didn't do anything wrong. You can't fire me without cause."

Si Yue's thick eyebrows furrowed tightly, and his beautifully shaped eyes were filled with coldness. "The personnel transfer order has already been issued. It's not up to you to decide whether it's possible or not. If you're not satisfied, you can file a lawsuit. The company's lawyers are incredibly bored every day, so this is a good opportunity to give them something to do."

Seeing Si Yue's firm attitude, Cheng Yueyao turned her gaze to Shi Lan. "Miss Shi, please speak up for me. My mother is not in good health, and I can't lose this job. What happened that day was an accident. I... I have nothing to do with the president. The president has never liked me." As she spoke, she grabbed Shi Lan's hand, which was resting on the table.

Shi Lan reacted quickly, immediately crossing her arms in front of her chest to show her refusal.

Cheng Yueyao missed her chance, and after a moment of awkwardness, she put on a pitiful look and pretended to kneel down. "Miss Shi, please, I really can't lose this job. Do you want me to kneel down and beg you?"

Shi Lan chuckled and said strangely, "Miss Cheng, although I am a shareholder of the company, I do not participate in administrative work. Even if you have to kneel, you should kneel to the right person!"

Cheng Yueyao glanced at Shi Lan, who had a smile on her face but looked distant, and then at Si Yue, who was frowning. Suddenly, she knelt down in front of Si Yue with a thud.

"President, I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have gone to the hospital to see Miss Shi, and I shouldn't have gone with you after you said we were going to the bridal chamber. I just wanted to listen to you. Please, don't leave me."

Cheng Yueyao's shoulders trembled as she crawled two steps to Si Yue's side, carefully grabbing his straight trouser leg and swaying it slightly, murmuring things like, "Please, don't leave me, I can't live without you."

Si Yue initially frowned, looking impatient, but as Cheng Yueyao cried uncontrollably, her face turning pale, Si Yue's brows slowly relaxed, and he even revealed a hint of pity and compassion.

"Lanlan, look..." Si Yue looked at Shi Lan with a troubled expression.

Shi Lan appeared indifferent, but inwardly she sneered.

He's utterly hopeless; he forgets all the promises he made to her after just a couple of cries. This kind of man is disgusting. Shi Lan thought she was doing a good deed by fulfilling the original owner's wish to get back together with him, but Si Yue's attitude made her not want to tolerate it for even a second longer.

So she pushed aside the cutlery, placed the napkin on the table, looked at the two of them, and said calmly, "Today's lunch was quite good, thank you. Of course, thank you also for Ms. Cheng's wonderful performance."

Shi Lan's words stung Cheng Yueyao, causing her to stop crying. Shi Lan glanced at Cheng Yueyao with disdain, stood up gracefully, looked at the waiter who kept glancing in their direction, and left the restaurant without looking back.

Even a fool would know she was angry in this situation. Si Yue wasn't stupid; on the contrary, he was quite shrewd. However, his shrewdness was manifested in business, while he was incredibly naive when it came to women. Cheng Yueyao seized on this, and just as he was about to get up to chase after her, she gritted her teeth, tilted her body, and fell to the ground, blocking his path completely.

Si Yue's steps were blocked. He subconsciously looked down and saw Cheng Yueyao, who was pale and had already fainted. He panicked and quickly looked around, calling for someone to call an ambulance.

In the midst of the chaos, he unknowingly forgot to coax the already angry Shi Lan.

Back home, Shi Lan was seething with anger. She felt like the original owner of this body had completely drained her brain cells. How could the original owner not be able to let go of such a man even until her death? She truly understood the saying "the one involved is often blinded" today. In any case, the original owner's only wish was to find the murderer who pushed her down the stairs. As for Si Yue, it was just that Shi Lan was soft-hearted and wanted to fulfill the original owner's dream.
